Their new convertible concept looks even better, in my opinion. I really hope they make it, especially now that they've actually decided to sell the hardtop version (Celestiq)
I really wish GM would push Cadillac upmarket and compete with Bentley/Rolls instead of BMW and Mercedes. They could do it with cars like these if they did it right with build quality and bespoke components, and still be profitable in that price bracket. Let Buick move upscale (with accompanying product) to be the role Cadillac’s currently in, and have Cadillac put some meaning in that “standard of the world” marketing.
Cadillac was a world leader 100 years ago, introducing many automotive firsts and winning several awards for doing so. Duesenberg was probably a more direct peer to Rolls, but Cadillac was right there as well.
There is zero market for Cadillac to be in that segment. People who buy Bentley/Rolls are brand buyers. Trying to convince them to change brands to an American company that has major history in that segment is going to be like pushing a boulder up a hill. Bentley/Rolls/Maybach have a legacy that Cadillac never had.
Cadillac is positioned well in the market, being performance luxury. Buick is floundering a bit, but mostly because they can't compete with what Lincoln is putting out right now.

Ironically, Cadillac used to be on the level of Roll-Royce. No idea what happened, but look up Cadillacs of the 1930s to see what I mean.

Weren’t Cadillac the first to have an electric starter, as opposed to a crank?

GM lacks the talent to actually build these things en masse. Which is a shame because the crap Cadillac does churn out is a Chevy with nicer seats.

Do you want a Caddy or a Bentley? Your choice. That blue Caddy is a good looking car.

Hello Eldorado GM was to much of a coward to produce.
