Anybody else discover SCTV when you were a kid?

I was in 8th grade and our local station would run it at midnight on Fridays. I happened to watch it one night and it blew my mind. It was so much funnier than SNL. I remember telling my nerd friend group about it and we started watching it religiously, recapping the skits on Monday. It made us start watching all the old movies and TV shows they'd reference, which made the skits even funnier. I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes a few years ago when a Millennial colleague was telling me how funny Catherine O'Hara was on Schitt's Creek, like she'd just discovered her. I wanted to tell my colleague she should check out Catherine's impersonations on SCTV (like Brooke Shields!), but I held my tongue.
