Which mobile network in mk

I currently have O2 and it does not work well for me up the city. Used to have Vodafone and that was not great either. I can have full reception with O2 and when I come out of the city I receive all my WhatsApp messages at the same time. I switched off 5g so it only uses up to 4g and they improved it around mk but not up the city, still just as bad.
Which mobile network do people use?
dilithium-dreamer@reddit
Depends on the area. I'm with EE and the signal is dire in Woolstone (MK15) but perfect in Emerson Valley where I now live (MK4).
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
If I switch my wireless off at home nothing works. Oakridge park.
If I walk outside it is ok until I get to great Linford and I have no data at all.
I don't think any network is good in MK.
dilithium-dreamer@reddit
It's incredible, really, considering it's such a big city. I've travelled all over the UK and Europe and never had a problem with EE, even in really remote locations. Come to MK and meh, utter crap.
I used to have to use the Wi-Fi to make calls in Woolstone, but I have full coverage here.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Yeah no provide is good in MK
Kaniasterr@reddit
I think it’s shit everywhere in mk to be fair. I’m with Voxi and it’s £10 a month so I really can’t complain. I do have a network connection most of the time, i have seen it on EDGE/2G but it’s very very rare
Redpoltergeist@reddit
EE is the best also it has wifi calling feature so it’s works when you don’t have receipt home but in wifi
slenpree@reddit
no issues on Three, get 5G everywhere
direct-evil@reddit
EE is by far the better option. Not only because the service but the customer service is superb. All UK call centres and personally I've never had an issue
violetliberty@reddit
Are you referring to phone signal or data? When I go into the shopping centre I have to manually switch my wifi off or it tries to connect to the (very terrible) CMK wifi which would explain why you then get whatsapp’s once you leave as you have dropped from the wifi and gone back onto 4g.
Helpful_Designer_523@reddit
Signal is piss poor in MK.
But lets keep bending over and continue to get screwed by telecomms companies.
brannydeef1@reddit
I use three tends to be good enough
Mr_Valmonty@reddit
It’s mad how MK is so forward thinking in almost every way - except the 5G signal is awful in the city centre and Kingston to the extent I wonder if it is intentional
adamm255@reddit
Yeah. Aylesbury has really good 5G and has done for about 3-4 years now. We seem to have a load of 5G towers but no coverage.
Don’t get me started about Kingston…
adamm255@reddit
Especially as around Kingston centre are about 10 cell towers.
kdnguyendl@reddit
Networks in the UK are horrible overall I would say. Every time I go abroad, their phone signals are so much better. I'm with EE, my partner been with O2 and Vodaphone.
In the supermarket? No signal. Sports hall? No signal. In a school? No signal. In the centre of the city in a random shop? No signal.
Maybe EE works for others, but not for me. (And it's not my phone)
TheMonkFeesh@reddit
That’s the building construction usually. Lots of metal roofing/cladding used.
VLM52@reddit
Not a great excuse. I’ve gotten better reception underground in Seoul than I’ve ever managed in England.
adamm255@reddit
There’s 4G in the Jubilee Line now. Better signal than in MK LOL
kdnguyendl@reddit
Agreed. I went to Vienna in March and their signal was so good underground and everywhere.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Yeah same for me. So frustrating
kdnguyendl@reddit
It's 2024. People are sent into space and all, but mobile signals are not sorted? It's a joke really lol
zebcode@reddit
People went to space before widespread mobile use but I understand the point
kdnguyendl@reddit
Haha that's a very good point

Carriefan@reddit
EE is best in MK, then Voda, then O2 and lastly Three
foxheno@reddit
The connection probably gets thrown around in a roundabout tornado
oo0st@reddit
Try cellmapper.net if needed to compare coverage in exact locations. Overall it’s a UK problem.
trigger2k20@reddit
I used to be with O2, now I'm with EE. So much better in terms coverage and speed. Never going back to O2.
MountainInformation7@reddit
3 was dreadful but recently I get a pretty stable and strong connection. I've tried EE in the past and it was good.
Practical_Bullfrog20@reddit
I have Lebara no problem with it.But yes there's some dead spots around the city.
dallibab@reddit
Giff gaff works good for me, 10yrs Think they are on 02s network. Better than my colleague who are on Vodafone.
DJBurke98@reddit
I've always been using EE. I hardly have issues with them
supercbuk@reddit
I get good 5G with Vodafone. Also depends on the phone. I downloaded a security update on my old S22 which pretty much killed it unless you were stood next to the antenna
oalfonso@reddit
Depends a lot on the street. I'm happy with BT, I think it is EE, but in Stony Stratford high street it doesn't work.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Yeah it is frustrating.
I turn off 5g as that is pretty much a line of sight signal.
oalfonso@reddit
I switched to Vodafone years ago and had switched back to BT because there was no network at my office in the city centre.
Ayowolf@reddit
Ive never had a problem with sky
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
That is O2. So you use it ok up the city?
Ayowolf@reddit
They arent the same but similar,i use it fine but it bad up in the Kingston and Broughton area but i live near the center so its fine
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Yeah. They are the same but billing and account set up are different.
By law an mvno is not allowed a lower priority on a network and I am very sure that it would not make sense to give an mvno a higher priority.
IndefiniteLouse@reddit
Sky uses the O2 network, so coverage would be the same
eithrusor678@reddit
Three does very well for me in mk.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Seems a couple of people are happy with that.
Does it work for data up the city?
eithrusor678@reddit
Honestly couldn't say, I rarely go up there. Sorry
Away_Refrigerator823@reddit
The signal in MK is a joke. I had more signal in the middle of nowhere in Northumberland than I do in Milton Keynes. I’m on Vodafone and it’s shite.
BewareTheSweetcorn@reddit
honestly, since the removal of Huawei tech from the 5g infrastructure, most networks seem to be suffering. 3 used to be good everywhere, so did Vodafone but now both have patches of low signal quality. I don't think it's a service issue, so much as an infrastructure one. I'd do a check on the locations you spend most times in and see if any provider has a better network there, but take heart that we're all in the same boat.
Soft_Intern_2849@reddit
Network in MK is horrible in general.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Yeah it really is. I don't think any network will be decent.
mattcosmith@reddit
I use EE and seem to have signal most places.
My wife is on O2 and doesn't always have signal. She works in Springfield and gets no service there as apparently someone crashed their car into a mast and it still hasn't been fixed.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
See on o2i get signal but miss calls and have no actual data
CeresIsAPlanetToo@reddit
Three is the only one I've not had much trouble with here.
uncertain_expert@reddit
I run both EE and O2 via an eSIM in the same phone. Both networks have their black-spots, but I generally have signal on one or the other.
O2 seems to have better signal overall, especially within Centre:MK.
Extreme-Acid@reddit (OP)
Oh dear. Guess I am out of luck then.
moss3000@reddit
I've found EE to be dreadful around MK expecially around MK4 with regards to data speeds. Could also depend on the plan which in some instances caps speeds. EE have a no frills plan they stuck me on citing 'unlimited' data but it's capped at 10mbps which is below par. Maybe check with neighbours.
cankennykencan@reddit
EE is prob the best overall. O2 seems to have alot of coverage but not much capacity in built up areas like the city centre and Kingston etc
