Wife is having problems getting the HMRC app to identify her even though her details are correct, can't get through on the phone without being cut off after 30 minutes twice, any suggestions?

We've got her gateway number, password, log in number, biometrics all set up no problems.
It then wants to identify her which requires name, national insurance number and date of birth. It then says this information is incorrect. We've triple checked the NI number is correct and I'm pretty sure she knows her date of birth and name after all these years.
The alternative is to use postcode and again it says that is incorrect.
There is clearly some wrong information about her with HMRC, but we can't get through to check it. Every time we call, depending where on what we say, we either get told to go online by the IVR and cut off, or we end up in a queue for 30 minutes and then it cuts us off.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that we could try, like a webchat or a specific number to check your data.
Someone has said that calling at 8am usually means less wait times, but we both have to work at that time.
Thanks for any help.

did anyone solve this? i have the same problem. I’ve phoned and email but no one gives me a solution. I have been trying to set a lifetime ISA but it doesn’t let me because it says my details don’t match HMRC records

Hello, I just wanted to ask if you were able to resolve this please!!
OkClue2852@reddit
I’m in the same situation I can’t log in online or on the app I’ve called since September 24 it’s now march 25 and nothing, I just started my self employed job how they want me to do the tax if I can’t access my UTR NUMBER🤦🏾♂️
Abject-Standard2765@reddit
How did you resolve this?
Affectionate_You_858@reddit
Had exactly the same problem, said my details did not match. I know my bloody name and dob
Unlikely_Diet5489@reddit
Did you resolve this? I'm having the same problem too! My NI no. Is tattooed on my brain, I know my DOB (obviously) and even my postcode didn't work.
I did change my name in 2018 just before and after I got married but I've been officially living here for 5 years, I'm on the electoral roll and the details (including newest name) were all on my PAYE payslips for 3 years.
I quit working for a bit after that to have my kids but I've just set up a LTD company which began trading this month and I can't arrange payroll without verifying my details!
I know calling HMRC will be utterly fruitless if they have the wrong data (I work in accounts so have dealt with them a lot) and read another post on here where they had the wrong DOB and advised it would be a year to change it!
Advice from anyone else is also welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I had issues leaving out my middle name a while back as I don't use it at all on anything really, but after several tries, just providing them my info and including my middle name got it through if I remember rightly

Try setting up a new government gateway ID. It seems if you forget your password they ask you to set one up again so just pretend that's the issue and start over again.

I just downloaded it to test it - it's the same as logging in through the website for me. I didn't need to do anything except my gateway no, password, two factor and then set up a pin etc.
I've changed my name twice, but it didn't even ask me for it!
Have she logged in through the website before? Does that work? The app seems to just send you there for most things anyway.

I believe she has tried the website before, but we could try together and see if we can muddle through.
I had some difficulty myself earlier on in the year, but finally cracked it. I just don't remember it being as difficult as this.
Thanks

The only advice I have for you is that the web chat was utterly useless when I tried. It was basically an advice service that didn't have access to most of the system. Unless it has changed. The only thing I can suggest is just keep ringing.

Wife gave up on this. Her documents were in maiden name but her payroll was under married name. When she phoned up they directed her to the app when she said that is why she was calling they said they can't help with verifying. She offered to send her marriage licence so it could be updated manually and they couldn't do it.
