Engine swap on an 04 dodge neon

My first ever car was an 04 dodge neon sxt, as I got older I got a more reliable newer car and the neon has wasted away in my back yard. Of late I've started to work on it and later on I wanna do an engine swap- it currently has the 2.0L 4 cylinder- any recommendations on what to swap it with?

Besides the srt4 engine? Nothing. It’s not a good car to swap, and extremely little to no aftermarket support for anything swap related.

Do you know what sub you're in?

Yes, and most people on here don’t have the faintest idea or ability to swap a different drivetrain into a car, which is why they’re on this sub asking stupid questions instead of actually doing it.

You can do either a regular 2.4 swap or an srt4 swap pretty easily. I would recommend a manual swap at the same time. I did one back in 2008 as my first real car project and it was pretty easy, all things considered

Anything outside of an SRT-4 engine is gonna be a completely custom job and you'll have to fabricate and wire 100% of it yourself. It was never a particularly popular platform and there aren't really any swaps out there that have kits for them or anything like that.
Swapping in an engine that was never originally an option for the car is a major undertaking even with aftermarket support for it. Doing a swap no one has done before (which is what you'll be doing) is a whole other ball game and unless you are a very skilled fabricator with access to a fully stocked shop and deep pockets you're probably not going to be doing that.

I've done plenty of engine swaps and built a lot of cars- more so just wanna try something I've never done before so if customs the only way then fuck it- I appreciate the advice

Srt-4 swap is the most probable

check how badly it is rusted before you spend any dime on it.

I did, body is in amazing condition with little rust- when I say it sat I mean it more in a metaphorical way- it's been in a enclosed carport so it's hadn't been in the elements
