Hindu people tossing a statue of one of their Gods in Lake Arlington. I saw multiple incidents like this yesterday. Is this considered trespassing or what? Is this even safe to the environment?

I went to photograph the moon at lake Grapevine last evening and noticed a Hindu family doing this. I found it fascinating! They asked me to take a picture of their family with the cultural item. I was happy to do so.
hastinapur@reddit
It’s clay, i was Hindu once. I don’t like it but it’s nothing to be concerned about unless you are running out of things to be concerned about.
yvonnalynn@reddit
I don’t much about Hinduism. Thank you for replying to the OP in a respectful but also funny way.
hastinapur@reddit
Thank, I have a feeling OP knows what’s happening.
fivemagicks@reddit
Ignorant conservatives are always worried about things that don't affect them. The world and country must be in their image, otherwise ... heresy.
yvonnalynn@reddit
How sad. I thought I was going to be able to see interesting things about Dallas without all the finger pointing ranters calling the other political party “ignorant” but I suppose it’s inescapable. I’m not aligned with either party.
The OP might’ve learned quickly from @hatsinapur the answer to their question and May have been genuinely curious… but keep on being the good little virtue signaler fivemagicks. We see how glorious, perfect, and wonderful you are now stfu and let the rest of us enjoy r/dallas without your stupid political & moral self righteousness. I had enough of church and preaching growing up to last multiple lifetimes… I’m betting the majority of people have.

Lmfao I'm definitely not morally self righteous and will never claim to be. You ok? 😂
DualKoo@reddit
This is a liberal subreddit and the OP has POC in their fucking name and THATS what you got out of this?! Delusional.
Lonely_Refuse4988@reddit
Chill out! It is an important ceremony that recognizes Lord Ganesh, the God of overcoming obstacles. Even the GOAT QB Tom Brady carried a small murti/figure of Lord Ganesh in his duffel bag when he was in the NFL! I would worry far more about the Evangelical pastors throughout DFW raping teens than this harmless ceremony by Hindus! 🤣🤷♂️
saysthingsbackwards@reddit
Sir you're going to have to back all the way up
POC-545@reddit (OP)
Now Hindus are attacking Christians and get upvotes!
YouNeedTherapyy@reddit
You’re worried about the pedophile pastors getting attacked? Wow.
RosemaryCroissant@reddit
There are probably worse things thrown into that lake
POC-545@reddit (OP)
But this doesn't justify such actions
Chance-Adept@reddit
It’s clay - it will dissolve
POC-545@reddit (OP)
It doesn’t mean littering is ok. Even if it’s “only” organics.
Chance-Adept@reddit
Yeah this is a big time outlier of an opinion. Would you also not throw a banana peel in the water? Is that littering? Very strange hard line on what is essentially throwing dirt in a lake.
omar_strollin@reddit
Leave no trace would consider a banana bad, yeah.
Aromatic_Location@reddit
This is actually a bad example. Banana peels are really bad for the environment. Same with apple cores which I used to mistakenly toss on the ground until I found out how bad they were. OP is correct, this is littering. Although with all the pollution already in the lake, I doubt it will have a negative environmental impact and doesn't warrant much concern.
Chance-Adept@reddit
Ok, take me to littering jail. There is still no reason to be concerned about clay. It’s inert.
Aromatic_Location@reddit
It's not just clay. It is bad, and it is a problem that can lead to choking of the waters oxygen and cancerous chemicals in the water table. https://www.reuters.com/article/economy/indias-quottoxicquot-hindu-idols-choke-rivers-activists-idUSDEL58355/
Chance-Adept@reddit
This was in Arlington, not India.
Aromatic_Location@reddit
Yes but whether it's throwing dangerous substances into rivers and lakes in India or in Arlington, it's still bad right?
Chance-Adept@reddit
And unless you know it was toxic substances, and not pure clay (as many local Hindus have asserted in the comments here) - it’s actually not bad at all.
Aromatic_Location@reddit
I'd like to refer to the article that I shared. It isn't just pure clay. There are dyes and paints And even if it were just clay that is still bad for the biome of the lake / river.
Chance-Adept@reddit
I did refer to the article you shared. It was about people using dyes and paints….in India.
This is a waste of my time, enjoy policing everything all the time!
noncongruent@reddit
Damn, I've been chucking apple cores and banana peels out into my back yard. The possums eat most of the remains and what's left feeds the ants and other bugs.
Aromatic_Location@reddit
https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/news-events/the-buzz/even-if-it-is-a-banana-peel-it-is-still-littering/
noncongruent@reddit
Well, if my back yard ever becomes a national park with millions of banana and apple-eatin' visitors I'll have to reconsider. Until then, the possums get to enjoy their high-potassium snacks.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
No! I wouldn't throw a banana peel in the water!
This is why they invented trash cans!
Wake up dude this is not India!
Chance-Adept@reddit
Ah there it is. I figured it was some racism behind this “concern for the environment.”
Banana peels are natural, so are apple cores, strawberries, etc. So is clay. If you are familiar with the concept of composting? It’s like that.
Litter is cigarette butts, food wrappers, plastic, etc. - not compostable, don’t break down.
Please go clutch your pearls elsewhere.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
If your parents thought that tossing "natural trash" in water is fine, they made a huge mistake having kids.
Chance-Adept@reddit
My stance is based on literal science. Your stance is based on some general vibes based nonsense. So yes my parents taught me to reason in a rational way based on the available evidence.
Available evidence is that throwing fruit and vegetables and dirt in bodies of water is ok.
Available evidence is also that you are an annoying busybody that nobody likes, and a not very smart one at that.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
You said your stance? Evidence?
"Littering organics (like food waste, plant material, or other biodegradable items) in a lake is not a good practice, even though they are natural materials. Here are several reasons why littering organics in a lake can still cause harm:
Chance-Adept@reddit
I didn’t say all organic waste is ok, show me the evidence that an apple core, banana peels, or small clay statue is an issue.
You can’t, because it’s not. You’ve been exposed as caring about brown people doing something, not the environment. Take the L and learn to mind your own business.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
I bring an evidence, you say "I didn't say that."
Stop playing games, Mr "very smart"
Chance-Adept@reddit
Ok don’t toss food waste, you are 100% right and I was 100% wrong. I’m actually stupid, you nailed that as well.
Since I’m stupid, you can explain to me why putting clay (and only clay) in a lake is a problem.
YouNeedTherapyy@reddit
You’d rather compostables go to a landfill? You think that’s somehow better?
fivemagicks@reddit
I wonder if racist OP knows that most of the Texas soil is clay. 😬
noncongruent@reddit
If their foundation is cracked, they know, lol.
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
"If"?
noncongruent@reddit
There are places in the metroplex where clay isn't the predominant soil type.
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
I know. Just a jest.
RocketGuy3@reddit
I guess it's good OP deleted all his terrible comments. Hinduism is one of the most peaceful, open minded mainstream religions, generally speaking. Christianity... is not.
I've read most of OP's comments on this post one by one, and what started out as a possibly passive aggressive hint at bigotry-but-maybe-just-innocent-ignorance turned into a "holy shit, yeah, this dude's ignorant and racist AF".
I was raised Hindu, and don't get me wrong, it's dumb AF in plenty of ways, but your shit stinks just as much, if not far more.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
What you said again?
Hindu extremists ruthlessly hunt down Christians in India
Jurbl@reddit
I can use Mr Google too.
Christian Terrorism
POC-545@reddit (OP)
You live in a Christian majority country and you attack Christians? You can go back to India and enjoy Hinduism there.
RocketGuy3@reddit
Holy shit dude.
Jurbl@reddit
So pointing out Christians are capable of terrorism is an attack. You are a sad person.
RocketGuy3@reddit
Hey remember that Hitler guy?
chronictrees@reddit
I think you meant to post this on Parler
Historical_Dentonian@reddit
IDK, I’ve witnessed balloon releases. Pidgin releases. Fireworks and marching thru the street with Saints. This seems similarly harmless.
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
Balloon releases, markedly NOT harmless.
Successful_Ear4450@reddit
I think there was a cautionary tale about that back in the 80’s…
🎼 “you and I in a little toy shop buy a bag of balloons with the money we’ve got …”
Historical_Dentonian@reddit
Yeah, but the real threat from balloon releases in the waste of helium. A finite resource that has no substitute in medical and scientific applications.
Bardfinn@reddit
The latex or mylar are pretty bad in and of themselves. Choke fish & birds & turtles, clog digestive tracts, etc.
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
...and...
ArchReaper@reddit
This has got to be the most Karen post I've seen on here in a while.
Spent more time to record this and post it than it would have taken to google what they're doing.
greg_barton@reddit
Qaren, not Karen.
SiriusSlytherinSnake@reddit
No no. They don't like anything with q in it. Not quiet quitting. Or Quarantine. Not quinces. Definitely not a Quran. Those pesky Qs always causing trouble.
Bardfinn@reddit
It's an election year, and to some people, it's extremely important that everyone around be "concerned" about homeless people asking for (or getting) lunch on the street, people on public transit carrying bags, protestors in roads, the height of temple spires, political asylees, the rumoured disappearance of certain pets, "loud music", swimming pools, and unspecified dress codes.
One day we'll all decide to reject this agenda oberwhelmingly and they'll stop thinking it might be a winning one
hudbutt6@reddit
The Nextdoor and facebook Karen’s are spreading
Maximum_Analyst_1019@reddit
We toss car batteries in,to charge up the eels, a small ceremonial clay thing is no biggie.
NonlocalA@reddit
Thanks, neighbor! I was wondering why the last eel i got had a full meter!
A-Rusty-Cow@reddit
I sense a little racism in this post

PNWShots@reddit
Hilarious that OP is getting dragged over this. If those people were big fat white Walmart MAGA chuds throwing a bLoMpF statue in the water, the exact same reply guys here would be pissing their diapers about muh environment.
worstpartyever@reddit
If these were Christians throwing a clay cross into the lake, would this post exist?
POC-545@reddit (OP)
Christians celebrate peacefully without harming anyone.
YouNeedTherapyy@reddit
How is clay going into a lake harming anyone?
chronicdemonic@reddit
Thanks for the laugh, I definitely needed it 🤣
coral225@reddit
LMAOOOOO
Jurbl@reddit
There are Christian youth groups that have bonfires. Have you been contacting them to stop?
chronicdemonic@reddit
I think it's better if we just don't interact with this one, reddit. She's special.
Alternative_Program@reddit
Being against dumping clay into our fresh water lakes should be an easy win. Sediment and silt are pollutants we put effort and money into managing as far as I can tell. I think without a permit, this should be a fine.
I feel like there’s a lot of knee jerk reactions in this post because of the tone of the title.
But that doesn’t mean littering is ok. Even if it’s “only” organics.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
This is what I mean. But people here are very sensitive.
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
Trespassing? I doubt it. It's public, isn't it? Littering and...
quyen83@reddit
Littering and....

Smokin the reefer

You know, Farva, only you can make a dark man blush

Literacola?

I don’t want a largefarva, I want a got damn litercola
Bardfinn@reddit
My cruiser weighs 16,000 kilograms eheheh …
One_Salamander_9701@reddit
Littering, and smoking the reefer.
Bardfinn@reddit
From a secular standpoint, they chucked a lump of clay into the lake.
It's clay. Mud. Dirt. Earth.
That's a lake. It has millions of times more clay already in it.
Clay isn't a pollutant. It's not a biohazard. it's just dirt
The same stuff that lines the entire bottom of the lake.
Proshchay_Pizdabon@reddit
Most importantly though, for what reason? I doubt it’ll contaminate the reservoir but I want to know why lol
FribonFire@reddit
Here you are
Motor_Inside270@reddit
they want to turn it into the Ganges river.
POC-545@reddit (OP)
I saw two incidents yesterday in one hour.
I think there are many more.
If they keep doing this, we will beat the Ganges river within two years.
TheXOMOUTH@reddit
yes for the next two years straight Hindu people plan to come to arlington texas for statue throwing! foiled again by observant texan with smart phone
Raza1985@reddit
They worship Idols, seems like throwing an Idol as a part of their rituals.
