In my experience, the challenge is figuring out what these payloads actually are. Stripe has excellent documentation, but good luck trying to figure out what the Facebook marketing API is going to send you.
Half the fields are missing, a bunch of them are undocumented, and another bunch only show up during arcane conditions (if the Oauthed user is an owner of the marketing account but not the Facebook you will receive a thumbnail instead of a video file. Shit like that)
I would pay somebody good money to package all of that info up. Right now at work, we’re only able to have decent platform connectors cause we’ve run read a shit ton of data from big ad spenders. It’s honestly been a huge bottleneck in development.
OP: interesting idea, how useful this is will depend on the accuracy of the payloads! I have it bookmarked, I’ll check it out when I have time
Thank you for your feedback. I genuinely appreciate your perspective - I've been there myself. That's actually why we developed Webhook Simulator: we needed to speed up our own development process. You can read more about our journey in this blog post: https://blog.webhooksimulator.com/why-we-built-webhook-simulator
Let me clarify a few key points about Webhook Simulator:
Our tool simulates real-time webhook events with just one click or command.
It generates payloads for multiple APIs.
It integrates seamlessly with local development environments.
These features can significantly speed up the testing process, especially in complex scenarios. In summary; we do not claim to have invented something that does not exist and developed something revolutionary, we claim to have accelerated something that could already be done in roundabout ways and saved developers time.
Importantly, we offer a free plan that will always remain free. The paid plan is for users who need additional features and unlimited requests.
While AI tools like ChatGPT are certainly valuable, our solution offers a more specific and customized experience tailored for webhook testing. However, we understand that every developer's needs are different, and we hope you find the best solution for your workflow.
If you're interested, we invite you to try our free plan and evaluate it yourself. We're always open to feedback and questions - feel free to reach out if you have any.
