My 928 project is 3 years in and about $30k spent but I’m slowly seeing progress
n_choose_k@reddit
You are a braver man than me. Great job!
i10driver@reddit
I wouldn’t say braver, maybe less intelligent
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Nice! 👏

I love the colour! I've seen a few with matching coloured Cup wheels, and it's a statement. Is it going to be a full stock restoration?
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Thank you. I’m super happy with how it is turning out.
Yeah the colour matched wheels are the Clubsport versions. I have a set of Cup 1 wheels but I’m going silver I think.
It’s going to be mostly stock.
I have a genuine Turbo S front lip, some KW coilovers and I have rebuilt the engine with forged pistons and rods but it will be pretty much OE+.
turbocarrera72@reddit
That's a good way to do it. Forged parts are so much lighter than OE it makes for a smoother and nicer engine in stock spec. Are the bores still alusil?
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Yeah they were pretty much perfect so I didn’t touch the block. It’s a pain finding a shop that can do Alusil bores anyway so best to leave them be I think.
Epic2112@reddit
Do'h, I was about to ask who did the work on the block. I have a 951 engine waiting for an eventual rebuild. But it'll definitely need to be honed or sleeved or something.
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Yeah sleeping is expensive but I think it’s much easier to find a shop that can put sleeves in these blocks than find a shop with the experience and equipment to hone them.
turbocarrera72@reddit
If they measure good, then definitely. What pistons are they? Wossner had a bunch of problems with alusil compatibility and scoring up bores. The chance of an issue always makes me paranoid.
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Yeah they are Wossner. But they are revised ones with the alusil compatible coating (fingers crossed)
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Also if you are interested I have an IG where I’ve been tracking the progress.
@irisblueporsche968
Yeah I have to change the handle at some point.

pitchingataint@reddit
I love fun colors on cars man. It looks great!
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Thank you! It’s actually a factory Porsche colour.
I figured if I was going to go to all the trouble of doing this, I needed to be bold!
TheSeansk1@reddit
Blasphemy!!
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
Don’t worry. I’m now planning to take 8 months off from making any headway at all.
TheSeansk1@reddit
Oh good, I was concerned you planned on making the rest of us look bad!!
funwithdesign@reddit (OP)
The project car creed is sacred.
