Texas officials say they’ve scrubbed the voter rolls. Here’s how to check if you’re still on them.

I’m so paranoid every Tim I come across this type of thing I check jeez 😥
LostPilot517@reddit
Just to counter the narrative and top posts. It is super easy to check your registration, wouldn't you know it, I am still registered and wasn't scrubbed like the vast majority of registered voters in Texas.
Participate in your elections, voter registration integrity is important to the integrity of elections. People move, people die maintaining a quality database of residence and voters of districts is important. There is nothing nefarious about deregistering those no longer qualified to vote in a district. Could mistakes happen, sure, but those are the exception.
The tools to verify your registration are readily available, and ample time given to register ahead of an election if you are not registered.
KellyAnn3106@reddit
My knitting club checked a week ago. A bunch of ladies who have not moved and participate in all federal and most local elections had been purged for no reason.
I had someone file a false challenge on my registration last year. It took months and multiple follow-ups to get out of suspense status. I'm in the county shown in this video.
photozine@reddit
Let me get this straight...ANYONE can file a challenge claim on someone just because, and this will automatically deregister such person???
KellyAnn3106@reddit
It puts you in suspense status while it's investigated. I could still cast a provisional ballot when I went to the polling place but I had to take all of my proof of residency with me. I've been an active voter in Denton county for more than 20 years.
I had moved within Denton county in 2022. I updated everything and got my new voter postcard with my updated info. I voted in the midterms with no issue. Sometime after that, I was notified that someone had filed a registration challenge on me. I responded with all of my info. I was still suspended. When I went to vote on the property tax and other issues last year, I took all of my documentation with me. The election judge at the precinct was baffled about why I was suspended and we filled out a form together to get me reactivated. I was still suspended months later. I sent in all of my documentation a 3rd time and was finally restored to active status about the time that video came out.
So, yes, anyone can file these false challenges. It ties up the country staff as they have to sort through them and eliminates a bunch of valid voters who may show up to find they have been suspended or removed.

Report greg Abbott
HASHTAG_CHOLOSWAG@reddit
Gag Abbott will be around until another tree falls on him sadly.
ishyc@reddit
hopefully sooner than later ... lol
RayfordLLewsob@reddit
Gregg Abbott has been one of the best Governors we've ever had.
ishyc@reddit
Lmfao,, why don’t you go wheel him out of here and make sure to sit on his lap when you are done
horrormetal@reddit
But tell me why though
RayfordLLewsob@reddit
OK .... one thing .. The Border. Governor Abbott is doing everything he can to stop the Illegal Invasion. God knows we don't want another "Jocelyn Nungaray" event.
photozine@reddit
This is messed up.
I know what people will say, but the US really needs a national voter registry.
HeavyVoid8@reddit
National voter registry and a damn federal holiday to vote
kromptator99@reddit
We need automatic voter enrollment and mandatory voting
HASHTAG_CHOLOSWAG@reddit
the more people who vote, the more Rpublic/ns lose so that'll never happen.
Nubras@reddit
The US also needs guardrails on challenging other voters’ registrations. Why is it possible for random-ass strangers to challenge each other’s registration?
SadBit8663@reddit
There's too many bored rich old fucks with nothing better to do than stick their fingers where they don't belong in Denton right now.
Texan2020katza@reddit
Provisional ballots are not counted, I believe.
KellyAnn3106@reddit
They're only counted if the election is super close and they're needed. If there's enough margin between the candidates without the provisional ballots, they don't bother.
Responsible-End7361@reddit
Didn't you know, if you put a D in party affiliation Paxton assumes you mean "delete my registration."
MonSoleil937@reddit
Sorry, a knitting club?? The one I was in kind of fizzled out. Where can I learn more?

The GOP can’t win on ideas. Only by cheating.
EpitomEngineer@reddit
I’m confused. The article states that
“””Federal law prevents states from systematically removing registered voters within 90 days of a federal election, though there are some exceptions if the voter has died, been convicted of a felony or been declared mentally incapacitated.”””
The election is in 51 days. Are they just framing every removal is one of these exceptions?
Texan2020katza@reddit
It’s voter suppression. The TX GOP at work!
November9999@reddit
Everything is a conspiracy!
broniskis45@reddit
I wish this was a conspiracy but I myself was ineligible to vote in the previous election cause apparently my citizenship was in question. After I proved my citizenship, I got a jury summons, which annoyed the hell out of me. These texas politics are fickle and aren't to be trusted REGARDLESS of affiliation.
RayfordLLewsob@reddit
You don't have to live in Texas.
PoliteHostility@reddit
My wife, whose name could be mistaken for being hispanic, was put into a suspended state.
I, with the whitest name possible, was not.
We have both voted in the same elections, lived at the same address, and registered at the same time. So why was she removed and I wasn't?
whiFi@reddit
voter suppression by the GOP is hardly a conspiracy and has been well-documented in numerous states going back decades. but sure
Tuesday2017@reddit
No it's because the article is 'click bait ' "news" from a trash publication trying to push a narrative.
It implies that Abbott just removed 1 people from voting, but if you read the article (most people don't they just read the misleading headlines) they make referrence to a press conference that he had last month in Aug. In that press conference, as reported by the Texas Tribune, they stated
"Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Monday [ back in Aug] that the state has removed roughly a million people from its voter rolls since he signed a legislative overhaul of election laws in 2021."
So they removed people over the past 3 years who died or moved.

NewUsernamePending@reddit
Or had “reason to believe” they’ve moved. I haven’t moved in a decade and had a suspended voter card for whatever reason. I’ve been voting, so it’s not that. Had to tell them I’m still here and it took a few days for that to go through.
jjmoreta@reddit
They're not removing people NOW. They've already done it.
If you look at the original press, the 1 million voter number consists of voters removed since the last presidential election. Some for valid reasons, some not.
But the deadline for postmarking your registration in Texas for the November election is Oct 7th so the time to see if you're still on the rolls is now, so you have time to reregister or to correct your county if you've moved.
Aleyla@reddit
Republicans: if they are voting democrat they are clearly mentally incapacitated.
boxofdem0ns@reddit
hey they didn't purge me this time! nice change of pace.
bgrimm72887@reddit
Just bought stamps for the first time in a decade so I can mail in my registration! I honestly thought it was just an online form. Having to get stamps and find an envelope, hell even printing the form, seems like such unnecessary steps. Im a lazy mf and I almost didn't do any of this bc....well I'm lazy.
PerilousAll@reddit
Mine is good (so far). But I've never had a party affiliation connected to it.
vmanu2@reddit
Checked my wife and I, everything is still good.
EveKaia@reddit
I find it interesting that I have moved out of state and just checked to see if they purged me and my husband. I thought they would have, seein' as we have given up our Texas driver licenses and registered to vote here but nope we are still technically on the rolls.
Basement_Chicken@reddit
Republicans know that if they don't cheat, they have no chance of winning.
Icy_Team_664@reddit
I’ve been checking every week!
wingedassassin0103@reddit
I looked over a month ago to find I was in the "suspense" category. Despite immediately updating my information and mailing it in, I am still showing to be "suspense". I'm betting that I'm not the only one.
envision83@reddit
My wife and I are fine but my daughter, who’s 20 and voted in the general a couple years ago, couldn’t be found when doing a search. Need to get her re registered because she’s adamant about voting for a Harris and Allred.

I've been regularly checking and as of at least 2 weeks ago I was registered.
Now I'm not any more. Fuck these people.
Redsupplier@reddit
I’m confused, I’ve been told as long as I have my ID I should be good even if I’m suspense. Is this true? I also plan on bringing the blue voter registration card thing too. Last time I voted was 2018 senate race.
November9999@reddit
I thought ID’s were racist? It’s so much to keep up with these days 😔

have you tried being normal
NewUsernamePending@reddit
You should be able to confirm your address, I was able to do that and went from suspense to active.
SuburbanGirl@reddit
As I understand it you need to be registered. If you are not, and you bring all the correct documentation, then you can file a provisional ballot. It will only be validated and counted if the election is within the margin of error. Much easier, faster, and will be counted of you just register.
Disclaimer: I could be wrong.
msixtwofive@reddit
AKA they are purging expected dem voters every day and will happily be doing so until election day.
neverpost4@reddit
What sort of money can I expect if I file lawsuits?
Houstonontheroad@reddit
Just wanted to say Thank for putting this out there. It is incredibly important to make everyone aware of what is happening in Texas. And to give people enough notice to do something to register to voting. Voting is a right, not a privilege.
Lokaji@reddit
I've been checking my voter registration every week for the last couple of months. I'm paranoid about it because my name is very Mexican.
Doub1eVision@reddit
This is an obvious, and likely successful, attempt to prevent Texas from turning blue.
MonSoleil937@reddit
This is like in 2016 when I voted but all the database records say I didn’t. Both the primary and the general.
I got so much fucking mail about it and my coworkers shamed me so hard for it because I’m brown and a woman and therefore me “not voting” was extra egregious. But I fucking voted.
Fuck this stupid state and everything it stands for. I’ll be making sure everyone I know checks their registration ASAP.
OG_LiLi@reddit
Side question. I mailed off my updated address form 3 weeks ago. Is this timeline still on for me to get my card in time?
LovetopsG82021@reddit
....the AG is suing counties to stop them from reaching out to people who are eligible and not registered smh. I love Dallas but the Texas government throws money away on BS you have your county officials tied up in court with tax payer money over some bigot nonsense. Him and wheels need to be removed
whiFi@reddit
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL REGISTERED. Even if you recently renewed your DL and got a voter registration card in the mail, etc.
I checked last week and realized that I was apparently removed for no damn reason; I am still at the same address, etc. Just mailed in my new voter registration form and I will be checking back to make sure I make it back onto the damn roll.
heyitsmelxd@reddit
I recently transferred my license over to a TX one and got the voter registration card in the mail. Am I supposed to do something with it? It didn’t provide any instructions. I checked and it says I’m registered. “Effective Date of Registration: 09/28/2024”
whiFi@reddit
no, the card just serves as your record of registration. If you double-checked online and it says you're registered, you're good. when you go to vote, you just give them your name and they'll look you up on the voter roll.
Biker3373@reddit
Thanks for posting this.
10Core56@reddit
Well, check you ain't scrubbed, y'all.
AnastasiaNo70@reddit
I’ve checked mine and my husband’s multiple times. We’re still there. It’s good to check.
