When does the cricket season end in Dallas?

Found dead cricket in my shower, one walking in the kitchen at 2 am all within 4 hours. Also saw lots of them in the parking lot at night.
Question 1 - when will they go away? I have a phobia of insects its really taking a toll on me
Question 2 - where do they come from? I have sealed the underside of my apartments main door. I live on the 8th floor. Still they are here. My balcony doors are also sealed.

Well, you might have moved to the wrong place if crickets freak you out that much. It has been a few years since we have been invaded by crickets but sometimes, they swarm the city. I remember the whole side of Kroger on Mockingbird being coved with millions of crickets one year. They get so bad restaurants close their outdoor seating because the crickets will jump straight into the plates of food.

I thought this was a sports question….
They don’t last when the weather turns cold. You probably can’t get things sealed up enough to keep them out.
Crickets are omnivores. They eat nearly anything but rocks, glass, metal and plastic. But they can be attached but food smells like pet food and decaying stuff. Your neighbors may be inadvertently attracting them. But you might think about your own spaces and whether you have something attractive.
Glue traps are not a bad idea, especially if you don’t have pets.

Same, I mean it's somewhat big here due to UTD. They're actually hosting a huge tournament in October.

Are crickets normal here? Only been here two years so far and I don’t remember seeing any crickets until now. We moved to a new apartment back in October and don’t remember any last year either. Now they are all over the place here.

every few years there's an unusually warm winter and the following spring and summer has biblical-plague-levels of crickets. my first year in DFW they managed to get into my building's fire suppression system.... nothing more disconcerting than watching a cricket climb out of your sprinkler

In the same spot as you, moved here 4 years ago. Never saw a cricket and suddenly seeing too many now. I researched online, seems like the weather conditions this time are perfect for their breeding. I hate it so much.

Every time I see one, I think it’s a roach and think “I know my place is a little messy, but not messy enough for roaches.”

Are you proficient in the handling, maintenance and use of firearms?

Are you suggesting they shoot the dead crickets in their kitchen at 2am?
Don_borders6@reddit
I believe that is exactly what they are suggesting.. and i’m all for it 👍

I read the title and immediately thought about Twenty20s. Which I guess is a flag that I work in IT.

Burn wild mountain sage at all of your door and window sills. Insects retreat from burning vegetation.

It’s so weird that we find crickets on the 20th floor of our office building downtown. I name them all Charles.

Gonna have to just wait til the weather finally cools down. Just be glad they aren't the poisonous ones

They usually can sneak in through the faucets because they are following the water source. I’ve had the same issue in my place. They are harmless, just loud and annoying.
