NATO official: Ukraine has legal right to strike deep into Russia

Admiral Rob Bauer, who serves as the principal advisor to NATO's secretary general, also said that nations supplying weapons to Kyiv have the right to limit their use.

Ukraine has the solid legal and military right to strike deep inside Russia to gain combat advantage, Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Rob Bauer said Saturday. “Every nation that is attacked has the right to defend itself. And that right doesn’t stop at the border of your own nation,” Bauer, who serves as the principal advisor to NATO's secretary general said, speaking at the close of the committee's annual meeting.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told state news agency Tass on Saturday that the US and British governments were pushing the conflict toward “poorly controlled escalation.”

The issue is that even if ukrainazis press the button, it's nato instructions guiding them, identifying the targets, providing them satellite inteligence, etc.

Ukraine has the right to defend itself, but that doesn't give NATO free reign to arm Ukraine, feed intel, and operate the weapons without it being an act of war.

If NATO hits Russia with cruise missiles, that gives Russia the right to do the same to the capitals of NATO. Once that happens nuclear war the next step. It will light a fuse that will kill hundreds of millions of people and ruin continents for millions of years.

Russia is literally the largest weapon exporter in history. It's not up to them to talk who should and shouldn't export weapons and where to.

When western made missiles will start hitting Russian industrial and military facilities, Russia will have 3 ways to procced:

cope, cry and do nothing. Yeah, they would lose some factories and bases, but the country itself would be generally OK
launch missiles into NATO, triggering full-blown conventional war between the two. They would lose that badly and would end up being carpet bombed into surrender. In this one Russia still exists, but is practically destroyed as an industrial society and severely humiliated
nuclear war. No West anymore, but no Russia either.

Do you really think that Russia got a death wish?

If Russia strikes NATO it will use it as an excuse to try to destroy Brics. Brics is a rejection of US global hegemony, and the biggest threat. It might be worth it to Russia to suck it up until they crush Ukraine. The course of the war can't be reversed by Ukraine. Russia is too big, the way they're fighting was designed to unstoppable by western military tactics. We can't do long term hot war against a near peer. The West doesn't have the industrial capacity or the nerve to absorb millions of dead soldiers. We're not going to sacrifice 50k to try to take a city, like Ukraine has.

If it goes nuclear the planet would be decimated. I live within range of a nuclear base, so that would be the end of me. I don't look forward to being buried in 20 feet of ash. Russia doesn't have a death wish but it it looks like they're going to lose then they have nothing to lose. Putin won't let the west bring Russia into their hegemony again, neither will China.

1) brics isn't a military alliance. None of them would have a reason to join the war. Neither the US would have any reason to bomb any of them.

2) Russia isn't nearly as big as some people think. NATO has 7x the population and 20x the economy of Russia

3) it's not anywhere close to be a near peer to NATO in terms of military power. They have similar chances against whole NATO to Ukrainian ones against Russia & China combined

4) Russian MIC looks great when it comes to fighting Ukraine, a broke country that has next to no Air Force, hardly any missiles and no naval power at all. Not the case with NATO, tho

5) all that talks about the American hegemony is just propaganda bs. I am 100% sure Russian officials aren't dying over that crap

They lost a decade of economic growth and gained bad relations with the West and Ukraine + 120.000 sq km of wasteland on top of 15.000.000 sq km of wasteland they already had. Not really a W, if you ask me. Not to mention that as of now in terms of median/minimum wages as well as pensions and life expectancy, Russia looks pretty bad even compared to Asia or LATAM
