Travelling and seeing the world going to collage in a different state meeting new people going to party’s getting a lot of hobby’s are things you miss when you get kids young at least until they grow older
Travelling is mostly done by retirees anyway young people might be able to go into a bunch of debt to spend a few weeks in Europe, but it's no great loss to miss out.
Meeting people and going to parties? Code for casual sex? Yeah every successful middle aged adult I know tells me they wish they had partied more and had sex with more random men
Hobbies? Hobbies are a way to fill extra time not a fulfilling part of life. Only a man-child thinks video games and Warhammer collecting are meaningful parts of life that will be lost when you have a family
Idk how is it in your country but over here it’s expected for you to go for a trip for a few months after the army usually to India or south America where everything is cheap you can go with 15k$ and travel at least for half an year
Believe it or not some people do regret that they didn’t spend their youth better and enjoyed themselves more also You are arguing here about getting a child at 18 how many successful woman do you know that got pregnant so early
Everyone does what they like but you took the most useless ones hobbies can be playing an instrument surfing working out painting woodworking and much more hobbies make you a more interesting person and fulfilling your creative side
That's what they always mean, they just frame it as "a fulfilling career in social media marketing" or one of the many woman-jobs that keep them entertained as our society withers away.
Hmm, so is being sexually successful and surrounded by little versions of yourself that you love a win or a loss?
Yeah, she should’ve probably chosen the path of a dry, depressed, and lonely career woman without kids. That would’ve been a truly meaningful existence—imagine how much FIAT currency she could've made for her employers.
You could be the one to buck the trend, to prove that nurturing, upbringing and hard work can trump over genetics.
I do agree though that for some people with severe hereditary diseases, they might not want to have children of their own. But then why not foster? There are so many children who need a good home.
You could be the one to buck the trend, to prove that nurturing, upbringing and hard work can trump over genetics.
NO, I will TEACH MY KIDS about how hard life is, and if they think I’m abusive, I’ll just tell them about their shitty grandmother! I will pass on the family traditions!
For some people, self-actualization comes from having children. You heal the childhood wounds and are able to see the bigger picture between generations.
It's a little presumptuous to assume there's only one reason to have a child or that the reasons should only be altruistic. Its a boon to you and your childs life to be able understand your own behaviors and values and being able to see yourself through the eyes of a parent. Thats how you foster positive change for the next generation.
Don’t be mean for no reason. He’s right in saying that if parenthood were forced onto you, for whatever reason, you would try your hardest to be a good parent. You would, too.
Happiness alone isn't everything. You could spend your entire life paying video games and not make a positive contribution to the world and be happy. But that would be a wasted life.
True happiness lies in making a difference in someone else's life. We only have maybe 60 to 80 years on this world and then we're gone. The only legacy we will leave is the imprint we have on others.
Except when you get a partner you realize that when you get sick, the laundry still piles up because everyone except you is a lazy PoS. Living alone in my 20's taught me to be brutally efficient with managing my space, but it seems most women never learn that lesson for obvious reasons.
Sounded like a friend of mine who recently got a married to a women whom he met when he's trying to get his degree in Animation and digital arts. Dude has to teach her how to mop the floor and clean the bathroom and cook is basic human functioning on how to live
If this is what you expect from children boy are you in for a surprise.
Still young
Yes, she has about 1/2 the life experience of your average grandma, as well as seemingly no education beyond high school. She'll have to play the role of mom for her grand daughter and the role of grandma will still be left open. This is not a good thing.
Career woman without kids
The vast majority of "career women" end up having kids, they just wait until they are secure, with an education and some savings and (most importantly) a stable marriage. Without these it is a gamble.
It is good that things worked out relatively well but gregnant at 15 is a dangerous situation, physically but also socially/financially. A lot of risks taken here, now being repeated by the daughter. Hopefully things keep working out but it's not a great idea to roll these dice when minor delay (can be a super young grandma at 48 if you both have kids at 24) to get an education, build a nest egg, and ensure strong relationship with spouse can alleviate a lot of risk.
As it is, if you support teen pregnancy I hope you also support universal provision of healthcare, childcare, food, and housing to ensure those kids grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Whenever that sub comes to mind and remember the shit they type there, I always wonder why they just don't off them selves since the world is full of pain and suffering, according to them. Earth is literally not suitable for humans and your kids will just die from either cancer or a random accident, dying from old age and being surrounded by people you love is just a myth spread by the Illuminati.
As long as the family is financially secure but also lives fulfilling lives. It's never good when you love the child but can't provide for them, which is why doing it so young can be a problem. However sometimes these things just fucking work. Either by God or just matching personality, they work.
there is definitely a difference between enjoying your role as a mother and being in destitute marriage slavery somewhere in rural India where all your talent and dreams went to waste for a man half as intelligent as you with equal sense of entitlement and Insecurity.
You understand the cons of child marriage better than 90% of india. This country which practiced child marriage regularly about 50 years ago, now considers it a taboo subject, and since no one talks or teaches about why it was banned, people build up their own interpretation and counter arguments. Things are actually okay in western areas as far as i know, but some states and most villages across country have instances of child marriage. The most common cases are when the parents, due to a desire to have boy child, keep on conceiving, and as Female Infanticide Prevention Act is an even bigger thing, some parents end up with 7-8 girl childs. If the family is poor or even middle class, they try to marry off their daughters asap. If you have any indian friends, ask them how many siblings their father/grandfather/great-grandfather (or mother) had, and it'll be an absurd number. India aint got the highest population for no reason. Yet the male-female ratio is poor. Man how did we even come this far with problems like this.
Ahhh man i downloaded reddit for catgirls not to spread info about current state of india. Oh well.
Got married at 25, we wanted kids asap but held off until 34 because we wouldn't have been able to give them a better life until then. Waited until we had a house to live in instead of a tiny apartment, money to spend on them and their activities. Now I have two and I think I'm giving them a better life than I grew up with which I honestly didn't ever think I'd be able to do.
Having a home is a basic requirement that all animals need before having their young. It's of course without a doubt the first thing that a couple will try to set up before having children.
The lack of children these days is as much a lack of housing as anything else.

If you consider the goal of life is to spread your genetics (as all living being's goal) then this is a W.
If you believe in human social construct then this is an L since they contradict the way of normal human
Personally? This is a W for she spread her genetics
"Contradict the way of a normal human" - Define a “normal human” for me, would you? Is it the guy grinding away in his 20s, failing anyway, then scrambling to marry in his late 20s/30s only to find a dating pool full of divorced and damaged people who only know short-term gratification? Or maybe it’s the “normal” one who can’t have kids because they’re either too old or too broke after burning out in their 20s? Then what - staring down the barrel of a lonely death, with nothing to look forward to except the cold comfort of material stuff and maybe their dog for company because they can’t face the crushing loneliness?
Yeah, hard pass. I’d rather “contradict” that life path and chase something deeper than the so-called “normal human” Western treadmill. Relationships, real companionship - that’s what makes life worth living. The guy with all the toys might look good on paper, but he’ll never know the warmth of genuine connection.
Give me people over things any day. At least I won't be hugging my TV in my 50s wondering where it all went wrong.
20 years ago I'd have called in an "L" but now seeing how many people chase the grind and fail completely to even get happily married, I'm gonna call it a "W"
NightOfTheLivingHam@reddit
W if you want a family, L if you wanted more out of life.

You understand the cons of child marriage better than 90% of india. This country which practiced child marriage regularly about 50 years ago, now considers it a taboo subject, and since no one talks or teaches about why it was banned, people build up their own interpretation and counter arguments. Unfortunately this leads to much harm due to ignorance of the subject and you occasionally find parents in remote villages marrying their daughters before age, justifying it by speaking out of their arse.
