As always, feel free to add events I've missed in the comments. Links to the event info are helpful and welcome. Feedback about events you've attended or plan to attend is also very welcome.

Noteworthy:

This week is the 3rd Monday through Saturday and the 4th Sunday of the month. I’ll be adding this each week in case you’re watching for First Saturday, Third Friday type events.

Jim Schutze may be one of the most entertaining writers in modern Dallas history. He’s been making the rounds at Dallas book stores promoting his new fiction book--not his first, but certainly a departure from his lifelong journalism gig--Pontiac. He knows so much about Dallas you might be able to learn its history just sitting in his presence. If you missed him last week, you can catch him at Interabang Books on Tuesday and Whose Books on Saturday.

North Texas Giving Day is Thursday, September 19. This is a long-time designated day in Dallas every September 19. If you don’t know what that is, check out its mission here. Their website is also a great place to find volunteer opportunities in your area of interest (and that part’s true year round.) Take the quiz on the home page or click the Find a Cause button.

Traffic Notes: A couple of races this weekend could potentially cause traffic issues and street closures on Saturday morning - Tour de Fleurs at the Arboretum/White Rock Lake, and Cheers to Oktoberfest at Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. Festivals that will likely cause congestion are Addison Oktoberfest and the Plano Balloon Festival. Expect traffic in normally congested areas to increase from now through Christmas. (It’s a thing.)

Upcoming: The rest of this year may be a blur for those who love to go and do!  “All-things-pumpkin” season starts this week with the Pumpkin Patch at the Dallas Farmers Market opening on Monday, Pumpkin Nights in Arlington starting Thursday, and Autumn at the Arboretum kicking off on Saturday.

State Fair season starts next Friday (Sept 27), but before that, the first event of every holiday season in Dallas, the Chi Omega Christmas market  opens (Sept 26-28). I don’t even have a Halloween Round-Up done yet. (But it’s coming soon.) On my blog, I do have a Fall Fun page on my website with lists of pumpkin patches and more, free outdoor concerts and movies this fall, all the Oktoberfests, and more fall festivals than you can imagine.

Have a great week!
