Not sure how the diesel is there in Canada but fuck the 2.0 TDI. I'd ditch it before the HPFP gives out.

i got a disaster kit hooked up

My experience was with a 2013. Bought at 72k miles. Within 20k miles the HPFP died, $3k warranty fix. Get it back, check engine within 100 miles, EGR clogged and DPF cracked. Another $3k warranty fix. I ditched that thing as soon as possible, it's extended emissions warranty expired this past May and I wasn't about to cover those repair bills.

mine is deleted. just seems like you didnt do your research on the car

Definitely didn't research it enough, no, and it bit me in the ass (kinda? I didn't have to pay to fix it). I considered a delete but with the feds cracking down I decided to just ditch the thing. I was offered private party money from the dealership that replaced the DPF.

im in ontario where theres no emissions testing. i've essentially got all the bad stuff about the car out of the way except for maybe removing the egr cooler (for potential leaks)

People online seem to think the issue may be that the engine wasn't engineered for the diesel used in the US.
