Not the same massive modding community as their other titles. Think the modders figured not enough people will be playing it in the near future to invest time in it.
Skyrim se on Nexus has 92,000 mods with 5.3 billion downloads of said mods. Popular modders make a bit of cash via donations so if a game isn't doing well, won't have AS many modders. Still a decent supply for SF it seems, with more coming.
Never tried mods but I played about 6 hours when I had gamepass, so it was kind of free in a sense.
It's not that its bad, its just that its bland. Empty. Feels like a ps3 RPG. An early gen one. Cities feel devoid of soul and every NPC feels only slightly more active than the random roamers in morrowind.
I also had just played CP2077 right before, which in spite of its faults felt very alive. Dense with active, moble NPCs with diverse animations that arent just standing, walking with identical gait to everyone around them, or sitting like a stick is stuck up their ass.
Story is also generic as hell. It really does feel like every NPC rolls up and says "hey you're clearly the protagonist. Take my ship, my robot, this jetpack, join my secret society."
Few pieces of media have felt as soulless and it pretty much killed any hype I had for TES6.
Don't remember why exactly but I picked up CP2077 with a ~6 month delay, and I remember being completly dumbfounded why people shat on the game so much (after reading about the state at release, I got it though).
My biggest issue, even with good open world games like CP2077, is that just too much of the maps and random NPC interactions are too repetitive. I honestly hope that the next gen of these games make some clever, heavily restrained use of LLMs to add some randomness to non-essential interactions with the world.
People make mods for games that they’re passionate about. Not many people are passionate about fallout 4 and people passionately hate starfield. Bethesda was always my favorite company and now they fucking suck. They have one chance to redeem themselves with elder scrolls 6. If they fuck it up it might be over for them.
You truly are, also you are missing out on loads of great stuff. I can't imagine Fallout without my Radio mods(Podcast/horror narration like the True Vault escapades, etc.)
Which when added with a mix of lore friendly weapons that add variety, and the old fallout progression system using "Be exceptional" And some bits of difficulty mods... the game just opens up for me.
This is without the multitudes of Quest mods, that change the vanilla storyline into something more satisfactory and bring even more supernatural horror content to the game.
Man you are missing a lot if you are not giving mods a try.
Fallout 4 has one of the most dedicated modding communities ever. Fallout: London was just released recently which is one of the largest mods for any game ever. People will still mod the hell out of shit games if you give them the right tools, which Starfield didn’t.
Right, I remember when it first came out and I pirated it and I had to inject DLLs just to get it to load plugins AKA any mods at all. And then no modding tools released with it. Absolute garbage
People really just make shit up all of the time, huh? Good thing I didn't believe you and looked it up myself. bruh, fallout 4 is number 2 on nexusmods right behind skyrim. There's a reason for that.
And between Fallout: London and Sim Settlements 2 (with Fallout: Miami and Capital Wasteland in the wings, we'll see when if and when they drop), Fallout 4 has easily the most impressive big mods I've ever seen.
Completely forgot because I didn't include it in this playthrough, lmao. The focus of this playthrough is Gun for Hire and Sim Settlements 2. Didn't want America Rising to clash story wise.
It's all shitty weapon/armor add-ins, NSFW mods, and visual effect mods. Nothing substantial like quest mods. I know London just came out but that's still just one mod.
You know in Fallout 4s case you can change the game completely in all the aspects due to how moddable its compared to older games... There are hundreds of quest mods... difficulty mods that change how the game world reacts, even the old Fallout progression system.
The modders even fixed the game.... just look it up, if you are interested in fallout world.
That's because there was no soul to save. Skyrim might have been mega broken but it still had Easter eggs and handcrafted quests, not proc Gen garbage that never changes and has like 3 different buildings.
No. I pirated it a while ago, tried to find mods to overhaul it, found nothing, and got bored with the game in the first 5 hours. If you can't make a single thing for the player to give enough of a shit about to keep playing in the first 5 hours, your game sucks. There's seriously not a damn thing interesting about Starfield.
Look up star wars genesis. It's a massive Star wars overhaul that replaces all weapons and armor and adds custom voice lines, as well as some rebalance and a few new features. Last time I checked it out they remade New Atlantis and it looks like an actual city now. Funny how one guy can do what Bethesda can't.
I’d thought about modding Skyrim and I know they have kind of streamlined it but isn’t it like a couple hundred mods, 100 gigs of space needed, generally, for the better or more substantial ones?
PUZZLES could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this temple before. There could be PUZZLES anywhere." The solar wind felt good against his space suit. "I HATE PUZZLES" he thought. The loading screen music reverberated his entire ship, making it pulsate even as the 9 credit alien liquor circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of starborn after completing the temple. "With a loading screen, you can releport anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.
This is a cherry picked extreme example from an individual who’s identify is completely kept secret and goes off of a number and code name basis, I mean it’s 4chan what do you expect
There isn't context missing in the screenshot really, "though that was already my preference." Is the point of the post they made. The words that are in the image are all of the context needed.
I mean, hyperbole and exaggeration are the absolute most common form of verbal communication that we have so yeah, at least that's how normal people talk lol.
Yes being 4chan i’d expect nothing less, and I guess anyone who forms an opinion from this who hasn’t played it well guess that says enough about them to be fair, all that being said still definitely the weaker of the Bethesda games, but for actual reasons such as storytelling or lack of, not just jumping on something as silly as this exaggeration
The fact in the first five minutes of meeting your first companion you find out how amazing and gay he is really set the tone for the rest of the game.
So they want to "protect my identity" while simultaneously confirming that they are a blue-haired trans warrior? That honestly sounds like real life, actually
I probably would just shrug and move on, unless I was getting progressively more annoyed at the game generally, then I might seize upon it as yet another point of criticism. Personally I didn’t play it at any point because the game didn’t appeal to me at any point. If it was something I was looking forward to I could imagine being more invested.
One small line from one NPC is in your face? I just had to choose my vagina/penis starting a character in Baldur’s Gate 3. I could care less about the culture wars and was wierded out. I think you’re stretching things just so you can be offended.
I’m not offended, I don’t really care, I didn’t play Starfield because it doesn’t appeal to me as a game and seems poorly designed generally. I just observe that the line seems to go out of its way to fit into contemporary language controversies and seems a bit jarring as a result. I don’t personally believe that 500 years from now spacefaring civilizations will be giving out pronouns as introduction, seeing as it’s a ten year old concept coming from a very specific quarter.
Both things can be true though. People just NEED to put things into easily to mentally digest boxes. You’re either woke or a nazi. It’s never that cut and dry, it’s ridiculous.
Dd2 is getting a new patchadoo soon actually. They tweeted it out.
Also if Elon wants us to call twitter “X” does he want us to use a new verb for using X? “They exxed out an update about a new patch” tf we gotta do here?
