ULPT need help with bereavement.

I recently told my job my grandma passed. They granted bereavement for the remainder of the day and I have two more days to use. The issue is it's not a biological grandma and there is a LOT of drama with my family. My boss wants an obit but the funeral home just posted there will be one to come later... our last names done match obviously but she was my grandma despite blood relation... what do I do!?!? Do I just submit the post from the funeral home that doesn't really say anything? I can NOT lose this job...

You're overthinking this. Submit the obit. Considering most people live in blended families, have in laws, etc. no component org is going to have an issue with this.
If you get push back on the dates you tell them the truth - you took off when you found out because your family needed you there for support and you were hoping to have a last chance to say goodbye in person.
I'm sorry for your loss but no ULPT needed here.

Thank you, and I'm sorry if I misused the platform.. that was certainly not my intention. I appreciate everyone's feedback!

Well I took off Wednesday and she died Thursday.... the call I got said she was going to pass and to be there so there IS that conflict

Typically, your Maternal grandparents would have your mother's maiden name, which would be different from yours. If they give you any grief just claim she was your mom's mom.

I already told them it was my father's side... he was my step dad since I was 3 years old and he raised me... would it be unethical for them to even ask?

She could have remarried late in life

In that case, for all intents and purposes you can consider your step-dad your "real" dad.
They shouldn't ask for a ton of details. Just provide them what they ask for, but don't give up any unnecessary information.

Okay thank you... it's just a picture with the dates her name and then blow it says an obit will be posted at a later date. Do you think a screen shot of the obit will do or should I print it out? I just don't want to get in any trouble...

A screenshot should work just fine.

Okay great! I appreciate your help.. I got freaked put when I was looking up info about bereavement and saw I could be fired if they found it to be false and could potentially be charged with a crime!

Just go to GoDaddy.com, create a fake funeral home website and list the obit to fit your story. Send your employer a link to the website.

That could work, but wouldn't it look sus if there aren't pictures of other obits, and what if they try to investigate it? Like reach out to the :funeral home" or look up the obituary thru another search engine?

It's a REALLY big company and they have a LOT of money and resources not to mention tech savvy 😫

Drilling into your life is not as important to them as you fear, trust me.

Use a Google voice number and have a friend record a voicemail recording. As for other obits use AI to generate photos and fake obits

I think your in wrong place. You have done nothing wrong. Submit the obituary as is and if they need more give them it when they post it. Regardless of blood or anything if you grew up seeing her as your grandmother….shes your grandmother.

Funeral homes have form letters for work, ask the director for one. Use it in place of obit.
