Willingly giving away their freedoms in exchange for perceived security.

I always liked their rugged individualist movie image — crocodile Dundee and the like.

That's unfortunate.

The real concern is people, particularly younger people, support this

These policies keep happening because they often have support. The problem that libertarians have to face is that while our policies are popular in the abstract, the masses are irrationally prone to letting the fear of hypothetical and statistically improbable dangers convince them to yield very real and commonly used rights. This continues until it gets so bad that people start to again realize that the biggest threat to their safety is and always was their own government. Then the cycle resets after upheaval. The key is to hasten the cycle or even short circuit it to maximize rights and minimize upheaval.

They are bat shit crazy voluntarily walking into it

Agreed, they got everyone used to it with subjective hate speech, proscribed language & the notion that speech is offensive & violent.
I don't think they could believe what they got away with over Covid, everything that was characterised as misinformation has subsequently been found to be either true or relative to the discussion.
It completely changed my mind as to trust in authority, I saw what happened when you gave extraordinary powers to weak politicians, a self perpetuating bureaucracy, compliant media & over zealous law enforcement.
It was used against normal people just to make this crowds life easier
You will note the same characters are excepting themselves from control & compliance of censorship regulation.

Democrats are playing these ppl like a fiddle, they just cannot see it. The gov is evil and they cannot see it. We’re all crazy to these ppl and trying to point it out is futile. I’m just hodling onto 1st and 2nd amendment for dear life

Australia is like some kind of mini nutter world where 1984 is just accepted as life. The oligarchy has been steadily taking everything away from them, and it seems like they are just fine with it.

The inbred prison colony being a prison, I'm not surprised

I live in Australia and the amount of people that actually agree with this is worrying, sad times especially with the greens constantly getting more and more votes each election. The worst part is, the liberal party which is our right party actually used to be a classical liberal party and was founded on classical liberal principles however they are hardly better than our labour party anymore. Only positive is we have libertarian party formerly known as the liberal Democrats that is gradually getting more of the votes and has a couple seats in the country, so all hope is not yet lost. Preference voting also makes it a lot easier for smaller parties to get elected with 1/3 of the population voting third party these days, so you never know.

Disarming the populace and the government will do anything it wants without fear of reprisals.

The Western world is moving towards the middle ages of lords in the manor and serfs in the fields. Keep your heads down, your mouth shut, and make master his money by toiling in the factories or dying in wars till you drop.
