misstiffie@reddit
Hahahahahaha this just made me laugh so hard
DGenerAsianX@reddit
There’s a non zero percent chance that the kitchen is making a statement about your request.
fnibfnob@reddit
Is there anything with a zero percent chance?
habichtorama@reddit
Two parallel lines crossing in three-dimensional space.
fnibfnob@reddit
Math is imagined, not observed. It's not a thing, it's a thought
za_sausage_doge@reddit
No, no, it's a thing and a thought.
Yung_Ceejay@reddit
You getting laid.
27Rench27@reddit
Fuckin got’em
fnibfnob@reddit
Really? I wonder what the average age on this board is. It's baseless and incorrect conjecture in response to a legitimate question
thenotjoe@reddit
Bro thinks using longer words makes him smarter.
27Rench27@reddit
You’re on a food shitposting board man, don’t expect too much lol. But no, I don’t think anything has a completely 0% chance, but to answer that deeply gets into a lot of philosophy
fnibfnob@reddit
Thank you for being the only one to have a real response 🩷 Makes me feel crazy that people are so prone to jump on a bandwagon of utter nonsense
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Definitely not crazy. There are a lot of weirdos on here that share a hive mind and only chime in because they feel powerful hiding behind anonymity, which is sad… and also scary
Coordination_@reddit
Thats alotta words for a virgin
fnibfnob@reddit
This is objectively false. Why the fuck are you guys so pissed at reality?
Amelaclya1@reddit
Why would it be an unreasonable request for cheese on eggs? That's a pretty normal way to eat them?
Long-Motor-1897@reddit
No, no, no. Are you 3??
thenotjoe@reddit
“Eating cheese on eggs is for babies” bro has never experienced flavor combinations
Stoplanet@reddit
I need you to be deeply serious my man
bestywesty@reddit
At Waffle House maybe.
hamdunkcontest@reddit
This is an absolutely crazy stance. Eggs and cheese are combined in many breakfast dishes that would be served at upscale restaurants.
UnchillBill@reddit
I love a cheese omelette
Brownhog@reddit
Lol enough with the elitism. If you got two Sunnyside eggs on your menu in some fashion you're not any better than a waffle house. Let the man eat his eggs with cheese.
Dextrofunk@reddit
yeah, and if you really don't want to, just say no. This is totally unnecessary
Euphorium@reddit
Watch your goddamn mouth about Waffle House.
Undecided_Username_@reddit
I didn’t realize there was a community of cheese on egg haters, enjoy your pitiful lives purists.
DGenerAsianX@reddit
No. The point is that all restaurants are capable of executing a perfectly delicious and visually appealing dish of eggs and cheese. Some restaurants just take substitutions as an offense and while never ever tampering with the food safety of your food, will maliciously comply.
Full_Ad9666@reddit
Non zero? Is that like saying 100%?
yourliege@reddit
Just another way of saying there is a chance. I think this tone and word choice implies it’s likely. A bit tongue-in-cheek
DGenerAsianX@reddit
Exactly. I don’t know. I want there.
SilveRX96@reddit
Non-zero percent, which could be like 1%-99% and of course percentages with decimal points too
zanzard@reddit
Why not 100?
SilveRX96@reddit
Oh that's true too, brain fart lol
KittenPurrs@reddit
They keep Kraft American Singles on hand expressly for this purpose.
peppnstuff@reddit
I mean, they don't go bad...
temthree@reddit
They had to ask OP what kinda cheese
mai_tai87@reddit
A good sharp shredded cheddar is delightful on eggs. Though I usually mix it into scrambled eggs.
Unique-Bit-2172@reddit
With hot sauce or nah
thenotjoe@reddit
People shit on hot sauce but it’s honestly a great way to add brightness and heat to a dish, and it pairs extremely well with eggs.
RichLather@reddit
Sriracha for me.
mai_tai87@reddit
A little bit of Tabasco or Crystal is how I finish it off.
PunkShocker@reddit
So is a good Kraft Single.
Amelaclya1@reddit
I actually really love cheese omelettes made with Kraft singles. The cheese is so melty and good. I like other cheeses in my omelettes too, of course, but Kraft singles are definitely in the rotation.
YourAverageGod@reddit
I unironically slap a kraft on my over mediums just like OPs.. just at home where only my dog can judge me
ChunkyBlowfish@reddit
I use Velveeta instead of milk for my eggs sometimes
adieuaudie@reddit
Lol I used to cook scrambled eggs with American cheese mixed in for my daughter. I thought she loved them that way. Then one day, out of the blue, she begs me to not make them cheesey because she hates them like that 🥲
flambasted@reddit
No such thing!
Shirowoh@reddit
My first thought, who the fuck asks for cheese on sunny side eggs?
dannatao@reddit (OP)
edit: sharing a pic from the restaurant’s Yelp that shows they are capable of cheese on non-scrambled eggs and it’s not completely unheard of https://imgur.com/a/ZE9ZTxY
Can’t address the “why would you get cheese on your sunny side up eggs” because I didn’t personally order or eat them. But we still all had a good laugh
hansuluthegrey@reddit
Yeah. Thats cheese on an egg. Same that you got. Being mad that its not as pretty doesnt matter. Also it looks to be different cheese
sususushi88@reddit
Looks to be cheddar. Op's dumbass probably asked for American.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Nope. Friend just said “cheese”
sususushi88@reddit
You're dumb enough to go to a place not known for cheesy eggs and asking for cheesy eggs.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Cheesy eggs aren’t exactly groundbreaking. Maybe touch some grass
sususushi88@reddit
I agree, so don't order them at an expensive restaurant you dumdum.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
No ❤️
amaelle@reddit
The pic you shared looks like an actual dish on the menu. Did you go off-menu and ask for “just 2 eggs with cheese” to save a few bucks?
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Nah, just side of eggs, which can be typical to want with one’s entree.
amaelle@reddit
Presentation is kind of odd but not entirely unexpected since this was an off-menu order.
Silly_Education_6945@reddit
Sharing this like it's proving you're right is going to end poorly for you.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Just showing it’s not as unusual as people think. I posted it on this subreddit acknowledging that it’s shitty food
happydoctor631@reddit
There’s no way 😂
Mean-Cheesecake-2635@reddit
Did you specify what kind of cheese to put on your fried eggs? If not they fulfilled your request.
bustingmyballs@reddit
It’s ugly but you asked for American cheese on a sunny side up egg. How did you expect it to look?
suhhhrena@reddit
Fr like how were they supposed to make that work 😭
Brilliant-Depth6559@reddit
Literally just sprinkle it on top lmao. The logistics of this are very simple.
candlegun@reddit
How the hell can American cheese be sprinkled though?? Cheddar, yes. But not that
Brilliant-Depth6559@reddit
You can buy shredded american cheese lol. Don't overcomplicate it buddy, it's pretty simple
Fried444life@reddit
I’ve done it w shredded cheese.
but this? This is an abomination
michiness@reddit
What restaurant is this?
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Catch LA 😗🫢
King_of_the_Goats@reddit
Looked up the menu. Why are you asking for a single egg with cheese at that restaurant? You deserve this.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
We were brunching and having dishes where eggs were more acceptable like shakshuka and avocado toast.
DaddyBee42@reddit
Yeah, with all due respect - for using "brunch" as a verb, you deserve everything you got.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Actually, it’s a pretty common phrase in casual speech, like ‘adulting’ and ‘chilling,’ so maybe dial down the condescension.
squeezethesoul@reddit
Not the guy you were responding to but brunching is absolutely not a common phrase in casual speech, this is literally the first time I've ever heard someone use the term brunching
claremontmiller@reddit
I’m a Californian and it’s pretty standard in the southern half of that state. Live in Portland now and it’s not uncommon up here either. Shit might be regional or you don’t eat enough brunch
TheLittleUrchin@reddit
It might be a class difference not a regional difference, let's be real lol
claremontmiller@reddit
I mean you could say “we dined” or “we chored” which is functionally the same thing linguistically, because brunch is I suppose technically an activity.
For the record I am 33 and somewhere between upper poor and bottom tier middle class
Historical_Koala5530@reddit
Oh so it's a socal thing? Yeah no, that makes sense. This is why NorCal is superior. "Brunching" is absolutely stupid.
Juhyo@reddit
Born and raised in LA; from the OC, SD, to Silver Lake, Santa Monica, and the west side, I’ve never heard someone say brunching before. I disagree with giving OP shit for saying “brunching” since it’s still a functional word that conveys what it means, but I’ve never heard someone say it in my anecdotal case.
claremontmiller@reddit
Nah I got you, I just always assumed everyone said that. This is the first I’ve heard of it not being a thing
squeezethesoul@reddit
I know California and major cities generally have a large brunch culture, but for the most part it's pretty non existent in NJ so I'm with you, it definitely has to be regional
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Everyday language is subjective, so I’m fine agreeing to disagree.
MattcVI@reddit
Just as insufferable as "brunching"
dannatao@reddit (OP)
I won’t argue with that, but I will say complaining about someone’s word usage on Reddit, of all places, is no less insufferable than someone using the word ‘brunching’ or ‘adulting.’ 🤷🏻♀️
Estrellathestarfish@reddit
Why didn't you order from the brunch menu rather than ordering an egg with cheese on top? Their brunch menu looks really good, if pricey.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
We did both, and the brunch food wasn’t even bad. My friend just wanted extra protein to supplement her entree, and it ended up coming out this way. We laughed and moved on with our day - nothing more to it!
carr1e@reddit
I checked, too, and I the only cheese they have with eggs is feta or goat cheese. I would have chosen one of those. That ”cheese slap” was intentional (and super funny). If you even think about it logistically, how else would any sliced cheese be added to sunny side up eggs? It has to be a shredded or crumbled cheese to have any pretty presentation.
DaddyBee42@reddit
Both of those go so hard with eggs, too. OP done fucked up.
TropicalVision@reddit
Only in an omelette though, not on fried eggs
DaddyBee42@reddit
I dunno man, one of my favourite breakfasts is poached eggs on sourdough with some avocado, roasted tomatoes and feta, with a bit of balsamic vinegar.
I'm literally just half an hour after a fried egg bagel, as well, and to top it off, I have some feta in the fridge that needs used. If I'd read this comment an hour ago, you better believe that feta would've been going in that bagel.
wanderingsheep@reddit
Yeah I googled it and it appears to be a seafood restaurant? I'm not sure what OP was expecting.
suhhhrena@reddit
That makes this all so much funnier omg 😭
flatgreyrust@reddit
lol I just looked too and OP’s literally an asshole for ordering that at that restaurant and the chefs were 100% telling them to fuck off.
madmaxturbator@reddit
Dude sorry but that looks like a garbage restaurant lol, even just based on the description:
For real?? They tout Celeb sightings lol?
It’s an expensive chain, when you’re paying extra so they pay celebs to show up.
norfnorf832@reddit
Your fault for ordering a waffle house-ass meal at a high end restaurant
Pitch-forker@reddit
There are two scenarios here.
One is that they are showing you what they think of your request/ messing with you.
Or its a shitty “high end” tourist trap.
I refuse to believe that a respectable cook (let alone high end chef and team) would make this on purpose.
Revenge-of-the-Jawa@reddit
To add a third, famous as in Kitchen Nightmares type of famous
madmaxturbator@reddit
I live in nyc. We don’t eat out all the time, but we do occasionally go to restaurants.
The food quality is insane.
Yet everyday on Reddit , people will post some horrid food and then try to convince the rest of us that “this is from one of new York’s highest rated restaurants”
I don’t even go to the highest rated anything lol. So I got to assume these people are doing some weird shit for the clicks and views.
It makes no sense.. you don’t even have to spend a lot of money in places like nyc or LA to get very good food! Not frou frou nonsense, but very high quality tasty stuff.
Damianawenchbeast@reddit
When it comes to New York, LA is kind of shit for food. They cater too much to the neurotic trend followers, dieters and people with fake allergies. They have good food but also a lot of trash.
Duke_of_New_York@reddit
Even visiting for just a week, and being limited to restaurants within a short radius of our manhattan hotel, every single food experience was impressive. We vetted our options first, but I was still pretty amazed at the average bar for quality, and authenticity.
KYHotBrownHotCock@reddit
Duke_of_New_York i doubt your reasons for being so positive
Duke_of_New_York@reddit
ok shit I had to double back and read my own username
ComeonmanPLS1@reddit
To add a fourth, OP is just lying for fake internet points.
Damianawenchbeast@reddit
LA has some really shitty "high end" restaurants for people who only pretend to eat. They've got good places but also places that are all style and no substance.
Centaurious@reddit
Yeah my workplace is mildly fancy and we have a couple of things the kitchen won’t do. But we would just … tell the customer in those cases.
Cheese on eggs isn’t something we’d be picky about at all because it’s really not a big deal. At the end of the day the kitchen would rather roll their eyes and do something like that to make a sale and keep the customers happy.
Major_Wager75@reddit
What the fuck did you expect?
Accomplished_Radish8@reddit
What kind of famous restaurant even has Kraft singles on the premises? Calling horseshit on this one
Fried444life@reddit
???? I’ve worked in like 3 of them. All breakfast cafes. And yes, people requested this. Many times. Wtf are you talking about lol.
tacotacotacorock@reddit
The comments here are definitely making me dumber. Time to leave and not look back.
Fried444life@reddit
have you ever worked in one? I’m sharing my experience in working multiple of them lmfaoooo but good bye 👋
tacotacotacorock@reddit
Have you ever worked in a restaurant that does brunch and lunch? Something tells me you haven't.
TopAir6264@reddit
Who the fuck gets cheese on sunny side up eggs😂
EmployerOk7764@reddit
What in the absolute fuck? How does a high end restaurant not have good shredded cheese?
BabousCobwebBowl@reddit
I might argue that perhaps these absolute r-worded cooks used the proper cheese with improper technique.
That said, did you order sunny side up with cheese?? If so, you deserve what you get. Scrambled with the cheese mixed in, a Waffle House grill knows what’s up.
tacotacotacorock@reddit
Why is everyone referencing waffle House? There are zero waffle houses in California....
BabousCobwebBowl@reddit
Besides being the Egg Gods on the grill? They are known in particular for their cheese and eggs. Get a non-stick, ladle in a little canola and lay two slices of American cheese over medium low heat. Whip up three eggs and when the cheese starts to go soft pour in your eggs, stirring with either a plastic fork, rubber spatula or some chopsticks until the eggs start getting set and still creamy. S&P and to the plate with some raisin toast for the full experience!
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Fair. My friend ordered it in the moment with her side of eggs but still atrocious execution by the restaurant 😭
Rich-Pomegranate1679@reddit
I know it doesn't look the prettiest, but take note that those eggs are perfectly cooked and not even slightly burned, even though american cheese was melted on them. It might not look the best, but I bet it was tasty as hell.
BabousCobwebBowl@reddit
“Melted” is being generous. I would sure as fuck stolen that pan though
Good_Presentation_59@reddit
More like why does a high end restaurant have sliced American cheese?
TropicalVision@reddit
Because there’s some items that it works really well on?
TheUltimateScotsman@reddit
For burgers presumably
hattokatto12@reddit
By the presentation of the place, a fucking cooking pan for plate (insert we want plates subreddit), “marble” tables, I know these eggs costed at least $9. This is so offensive 😫
dannatao@reddit (OP)
Can confirm overpriced. The drinks alone were almost $20 each
TrevorSP@reddit
For drinks made with fresh squeezed juices and decent alcohol that is the new normal. Well-made cocktails are expensive. Just buying a large can of luxardo cherries is like $100
tacotacotacorock@reddit
Seems on par for brunch time drinks in LA at a trendy restaurant. Something tells me OP complains about everything.
dannatao@reddit (OP)
That’s a reach. I’m just sharing an amusing food experience on a subreddit meant for that and stating a fact lmfao.
tacotacotacorock@reddit
What were you expecting from $$$ trendy restaurant with celebrity sightings that specializes in creative seafood dishes. Especially at brunch lol. Are you new to this world? First time visiting LA?
Apprehensive-Cat2527@reddit
My guess is that they had eggs on the menu and that it was a very elaborate dish. OP asking for cheese on it is pretty insulting.
tacotacotacorock@reddit
Everyone is focused on the slice of cheese. I can't get past the undercooked egg whites.....
Long-Motor-1897@reddit
What kind of low life idiot asks for cheese on runny eggs??
SmokeMoreWorryLess@reddit
Who asks for cheese on their eggs?
Fried444life@reddit
literally 90 percent of people. Maybe not so much on sunny side up eggs, but I’ve worked in multiple breakfast cafes- it’s a lot more popular/common than you’d think.
DatOliveDoe@reddit
I would've asked for a refund lol
sohcordohc@reddit
Kraft singles the cheese food of Reddit..
hansuluthegrey@reddit
Looks like you asked for american cheese on your sunnyside up. Theres literally no other way to cook it without messing up the egg
BetterBiscuits@reddit
That’s a pissed off cook right there. “If you want Denny’s I’ll fuckin give you Denny’s”.
Grande-Pinga@reddit
That will be 63$
nunsreversereverse@reddit
Why stick a processed cheese slice on man 😅😳
AahAaahAaaah@reddit
How do the eggs look over cooked yet the cheese isn’t melted, rubbery looking egg whites
sucky_panther@reddit
There appears to be not even the slightest bit of browning on the bottom of the eggs. Doesn’t look overcooked to me
Gocats86@reddit
Tbf that's how my toddler eats eggs. Ain't half bad in an English muffin
SageOfSixCabbages@reddit
Well, you got it. 👍
esotericvue@reddit
I once ordered cheese fries and chicken fingers at our favorite dive bar. What I received was fries with a piece of American cheese slapped on top like this….and a chicken cutlet cut into strips.
I used to cook professionally and generally have lax expectations but mannnn. That was low effort lol. Still ate it tho.
warrior_3@reddit
If you’re actually going to catch it’s your own fault
No-Wasabi3526@reddit
Lived in LA for 2 years and idc what people say, the food is ass. The only exception is pop up taco places. I moved to atlanta and the food here is cheaper and literally 1000% times better.
Flimsy_Imagination86@reddit
Amen.
kid_sleepy@reddit
You went to a restaurant for this?
Make it yourself.
pruchel@reddit
If my grandmother had wheels she'd have been a bike slam
Western-Armadillo-19@reddit
Restaurant surely not famous because of the food
fnibfnob@reddit
Why is there a pan on a plate? This is like AI level composition lol
Stunning-Wheel-8149@reddit
iconic
kelppforrest@reddit
I'm surprised they even had a slice of Velveeta at a $$$ restaurant. Also, why did they give you the whole frying pan?
3700xx@reddit
That’s not American cheese it’s Kraft “cheese product “
SushiLover1000@reddit
No way.
Spurgeons_Beard@reddit
Waffle House did it better
elboogie7@reddit
you don't know how to make eggs at home?
galaxymewmew@reddit
r/foodlosangeles
Moto_Glitch@reddit
Cook clearly felt disrespected, this is malicious compliance in food form.
Gingernanda@reddit
Let’s cut to the chase…
UFC_Intern169@reddit
I used to make it exactly like this when I was a kid 😄
Nugginzz@reddit
I wouldn’t be mad. American cheese has a good flavor and melts quickly. Why a lot of places still carry it. If you wanted to be bougie and get bougie cheese then ask for your bougie cheese.
Fresh_Werewolf_7971@reddit
this is literally waffle House...
goshiamhandsome@reddit
Hahah they must have been trying fuck with you
___potato___@reddit
Why would you ask for cheese on your egg?
BSye-34@reddit
because they like cheese?
imustbedead@reddit
waffle house?
Gazman_123@reddit
I mean you did get cheese on egg
Lord_Abyessal@reddit
Hope you Didn't forget to tip.
Championpuffa@reddit
Dipped the tip in the egg for extra cheese.
L_ViaI_Viaquez@reddit
I know you fuckin' lyin.
