Solitude Lake Management Position

I want to try and get my foot in the door in a marine biology job down south but I don’t have many connections. I’m not sure what I want to do yet. I saw a job as an outdoor lake and pond technician with Solitude Lake Management and Rentokil. Does anyone have experience working with these companies? Would it be a good stepping stone into a career in marine science? I’m interesting in field work and I want to get some experience in that.

Hey, marbio student here! Question 1, do you have a degree? Question 2, any prior experience halfway adjacent, even lab work?
UNCW is hiring a shellfish hatchery research technician, 40 hours per week, ~40k, and I think it’s a state employee so bennys should be okay. Qualifications are high school diploma and a year experience in adjacent field, BS marbio preferred. I’d totally include lab experience (even university), any larval rearing, and fisheries work to hit that 1 year experience.
That being said, is Rentokil a pest control company? And the other an environmental consulting agency for lake management? Anything can pad your resume but I think you may be better off starting to look at Division of Marine Fisheries for your state. In NC they’re almost always hiring for surveying field work (gill net, shock fishing, commercial vessels) so give them a look!

The UNCW position would be perfect! Is that position on their website?
I have a degree in marine biology and I have lab work experience.
It is a pest control company I’ve been looking into marine fisheries work but it always seems like you need to pay a lot of money to get certified in certain things so I wasn’t sure?
