Well dude in normal clothes on a belt loader. So pax probably got througha security door and ran up into the bin. I can see if I can find anything on our stuff
Depends on the aircraft type. For example the A319 has both holds pressurized with the most heat in compartment 51 in the back so AVI preferentially get loaded there. A220 it's the front. All of them are going to be colder when you're up at cruise altitude than you'd want to be. Some airplanes don't have heated cargo holds so you'd freeze.
No but cold enough that you'd be very uncomfortable, especially if baggage was between you and the fresh air vent. In some places it can be -70°C outside at cruising altitude so it won't take long for parts further away from the vent that conduct heat away through aluminium parts to drop. Unlike in the passenger cabin the convection of fresh air is not as reliable depending on the baggage and cargo load. For example we can't load a dog with bags between it and the air vent. I guess if you wore a parka, toque and warm pants you'd probably be alright.
I thought they only breathed a special type of dog air that they had to carry around in pressurized bottles but they can filter, purify, and produce it themselves at altitudes below ten thousand.
Once they hit that altitude, similar to humans there just isn't enough in the air. They turn on the bottles to let the dog air out. We can breath it but not purify and utilize it like they can. From my understanding it just smells like Cheetos and birthday cake flavored ice cream.
I happened to see it during a slow period at work! Most people don’t really think about the fact that pets can be loaded as cargo unless they have shipped a pet themselves.
This appears to be an aft bin in the image 🤔. Is what you described for a specific aircraft or do they all generally follow the fwd bin air/pressurized cargo rule?
Exactly, one is passive aggressively stealing office supplies because you know you are going to get fired and one is walking into your boss's office and taking a shit on his desk while he watches in horror and disbelief.
He stowed away inside of the aircraft pit? How do you even miss a person just chilling in there when you go to close it up. I have so many questions, American is going to be a mess for their rampers
Naah. Aircraft like this (at least in my own case) have at least four people working it. One, hell even two people could dissappear - you'd just assume they were desperate for a piss or something and you'd go find someone else to wing walk it in their place
Obviously this man smuggles frogs across the world and was caught in the middle of retrieving said frogs after a STING operation shut his operation down and loaded his remaining frogs and equipment as classified cargo on this unsuspecting AA flight. Y’know, typical stuff
Some bins are heated and pressurized (where the live animals fly) and some are not. You can survive in an unheated/unpressurized bin if the flight is not too long and/or too high altitude.
Yes, air travels between the hold and the passenger area (necessary to prevent the floor from buckling in the event of decompression) Obviously ventilation down there is less than idea, but it doesn't get too extreme.
A side question, are the cargos heated on extra long flights, say Sidney to LA? If not, wouldn't much of the luggage freeze and potentially cause issues with the customers?
Well I know for sure the he will never be comfortable in Economy class. Is it just me or does he look half as tall as the fuselage? Can a fully flat Business class seat fit him even? Dude's not made for flying.
I'm still not even sure myself. I'm told he jumped the fence near the roadway, which isn't far. I was loading bags on the belt loader and noticed this out of place man running up a belt and into a cargo bin. I thought I was seeing things. As soon as I told my chief what I thought I saw, cop cars and airport security cars come flying in, and we all dropped everything. Supposedly, he was distraught over his wife, but that's second-hand information.
I didn’t enjoy it until I was old enough to understand. I was in high school when I watched The Wire and season 2 was an absolute bore but as an adult, I loved it
It's much more enjoyable now with age and after multiple rewatches. But the first two times I watched The Wire I ended up falling off for a bit in season 2. Something about it just doesn't quite grab you the way S1 does.
You get to lay down, stretch out, find a soft bag to lay your head on. It's nice and cold, maybe a bit too cold but maybe not. Perhaps have some furry friends to keep company with. Nice and dark. Slide around a bit, but mostly not. No drink service, but you can relieve yourself in a box or bag. Could be worse, could be on Frontier.
Went to look for this but there are to many people that don’t even want to pay for the cheap seats . Here’s another one

Stupid question from a Helicopter A&P, do those big boys have oxygen supplied to the cargo area?
Livingston_117@reddit
Ramp agent here- yes! The forward bins have air and are pressurized for animal cargo. :) the aft bins are a different story…

Probably not below freezing temperature? Or things in glass bottles would get explodey.

Thanks for the explanation!
t-poke@reddit
And if there are dogs in there, I think I’d rather hang out in the hold and play with the pups than sit in cabin.
Conch-Republic@reddit
When I last flew with my dog, I could hear him barking below. You would not have wanted to be down there.
FourteenTwenty-Seven@reddit
You sure it wasn't the PTU?
hospitallers@reddit
If someone doesn’t know WTF is a PTU that someone can’t determine if it is that or the dog barking.
FlyByPC@reddit
An Airbus with only one engine running (on the ground) makes a "barking dog" sound. It may have been that.
Conch-Republic@reddit
No, it was a 737, and it was definitely him. He barks very loud. Although through the plane, it was so muffled that it was barely audible.
_methodman@reddit
Thanks for the info and quick reply!! That seems obvious now that you point out the doggos being down there.
lopedopenope@reddit

Nope it's pressurized same as the cabin they haul more than dogs in that pit sometimes even wild animals like Lions and Bears as cargo

Depends on the model of aircraft and manufacturer. A 737 has both bins pressurized and temp controlled. An e175 only has the front.

Preindustrialcyborg@reddit
depends on the class of compartment. Not all of them are pressurized.
mb4828@reddit
Yes it’s pressurized but very cold
palsonic2@reddit
i think the problem would be the landing. you’d bounce around in the hold unless they strapped you down.
Johnny-Cash-Facts@reddit
Doubtful, I’ve laid on a crew berth mattress in the back of a jet on landing and it was completely fine.
palsonic2@reddit
fair enough 😂 i take that back ahaha
SwissCanuck@reddit
Depends upon airline and aircraft. If an airline accepts pets in the hold that’s an easy way to know they purchased the heated hold option.
