Is there anyone to start electricity service on a Saturday?

Been living in Dallas for 5+ years and never had this issue. We just moved and my gf was supposed to do set it up but in the rush of moving she forgot. Just moved in to our new apt this morning and we don’t have service. Anyway to start it today or do I have to wait until Monday? Tried calling two companies and they’re closed.

I recommend you call your current provider but you should be able to switch within 2 weeks before the termination without penalty fees. My term date fell on Sunday so they let me switch few days before.

If you are in the Oncor service area, all the meters have remote service connect/disconnect, so theoretically any provider should be able to turn your service on remotely pretty quickly.

I had the same issue. Gexa Energy let me sign on a Saturday.

Yeah, Gexa was great and took 4 hrs to set up.

Does anyone know how this works exactly? The only way to physically turn off the power is to pull the electric meter. I thought a lot of times they just left the meter in and the power on and then you just started paying for it instead of the apartment. If you really don't have power... then you don't have a meter... it's not a easy / remote operation to do a physical install of the meter to get the power back on.... does anyone know how this actually works in an apartment?
OR.. can a 'smart' meter be remotely turned on and off?

Have you shopped online? As you’re signing up for service they’ll provide a date for connection & it can be same day assuming no issues come up. Connection is done electronically for most these days and someone only comes out if needed.

Try TXU.

I've been told it's possible and also told it's impossible but whenever I need the power turned on at a place I just moved into it, I've never had an issue with getting it turned on ASAP

You should be able to start something today if you find a provider thats open usually you have to something this like 2-3 days in advance but if you get a same day reconnect its gonna be extra $$$
