Issue - Monitor picture turns black for a few seconds, intermittently

Issue: Monitor picture occasionally turns solid black during use for a duration of about 5 seconds. Then the picture comes back on screen, and the "HDR" flag appears in the upper-right corner. Other input, output, and processing seem unaffected. For example, if playing a game, the game is still running unaffected and I still get audio, can input commands, etc. I use Windows Auto HDR out of the box settings. This behavior occurs maybe once or twice a day, regardless of what applications I am using. Desktop, web browsing, games--doesn't seem to matter. Windows power settings at Ultimate Performance. This problem has persisted since I built my machine like 10 months ago. Not a showstopper but annoying and puzzling. Any help would be appreciated.
