Water Line Work on Park Boulevard is Underway!

We're kicking off a major water line project on Park Boulevard, and here's what you need to know:
- Phase 1: Preston Road to U.S. 75
- Phase 2: U.S. 75 to the east city limits
Each phase will have its own contractor, and lane closures will move as work progresses. Repairs will focus on smaller, localized areas to minimize disruption. The project is expected to run from **September 2024 through summer 2025**.

Why don't you finish one east- west route before you start another. Legacy as cones up, Parker has cones up, 15th, i think, has cones up. There's no way to go east to west without running into cones.

Boooo. Stop with the road construction!!

I think transparency and being realistic with timelines would really help public opinion on this. I feel like it’s going to be October 2025, and we’re still going to be told it will be finished in “Summer 2025”

spot on! After the disaster of Parker Road, the city is losing credibility.

Ridiculous
ranjithd@reddit
waste of prior road work done this year. time to rip out and fix again.. so stupid
zatchstar@reddit
As someone familiar with these type of projects elsewhere. That prior road work was likely utility companies coming in and moving their stuff out of the way so the city can start this job
ranjithd@reddit
you obviously have no clue how inefficient this city administration is and how incompetent they do them and their contractors work
zatchstar@reddit
Ah the oldie but not so goodie complaint on this sub… It’s not incompetence dude, that’s just how engineering and construction works. I do design work for TxDOT and NTTA and stuff all over the metroplex and state. Utility work always happens first and then the agency comes in and does their work. Yes it sucks roads have to get torn up multiple times in the same segment, but that does not mean the city is incompetent or they are trying to launder money through contractors.
There are federal regulations that are strictly followed all over the country regarding how contractors get paid and how much things cost. There isn’t some vast conspiracy to line peoples pockets… construction isn’t cheap.

ummm ok

Can you at least 100% finish Parker before you start ripping up the adjacent east/west main road???

u/CityofPlano, since it's so disruptive to tear up streets to work on utility systems, why don't we bury them just next to streets (under sidewalks maybe)? People can handle small reroutes much easier than cars.

Thanks!

Here we go again. The contractors will rip up and destroy the roads in September 2024 and not actually do the work to repair them until late summer or Fall 2025 to maximize their money

This. 😩
