I work at a university and we got an email on Tuesday identifying the first confirmed case of measles on campus. They released the student's movements in public areas and are notifying students that have classes with this person.
My takeaway is that the students movements through the public areas looks like this student works in food services. That hasn't been confirmed though.

That’s not good. Measles is highly infectious. I’m surprised students aren’t required to be vaccinated to be on campus though. Or is that just for students living in the dorms?

My school (public, 40k students) requires them for all students but you can get a spiritual exemption as long as you can get a spiritual authority (literally anyone) to sign a formz

I am not aware of vaccination compliance is a part of the admissions process.

I remember my daughter having to, but she did stay in the dorms so possibly that is why.

I don't know about other colleges, but when I was in, the MMR vaccine was required and students were mandated to have to live in the dorms the first two years (unless they got accepted to a frat/sorority or were living with family).

7000 laid off today. The supply chain is good, just mass restructuring and redundancy layoffs.

I live real close to a National Guard HQ in Iowa. Noticed these last couple weeks they've gone from flying on just Thursdays to almost every day now. Not sure if it's anything.

Burning that “End-of-year” money is a plausible reason. Spend it or lose it next year.

FWIW, my local guard post has been quiet here in Oregon. It’s impossible to miss it when they’re flying.

I’ve noticed restaurants in Northern Colorado not being busy on Friday nights. We got out and can get a seat immediately at local spots. We used to have to wait an hour or more. I’ve asked friends from other states if they’ve seen the same and they have not. I think perhaps folks are cutting back due to a massive increase in insurance costs and property taxes. 🤷♂️

My company has some work with the Federal Goverment. Some of the larger projects, in early stages, have been put on slow walk (not stop) until after the election.
We are still hiring but its way down from early this year, we are just focusing on finding key individuals. I normally get calls from recruiters trying to lure me away, now I am getting calls from recruiters asking me if I would like to look at hiring candidates through them. Seems like the labor market is softening.
