Ducks at Russell Creek Park

Rant, but I see so many parents allow their kids to harrass the ducks at the park.
Just today I saw a kid pick up a duck with their hands and tried to chuck it in the pond while the mom was cheering. Please do better. 🤦♀️

Take video next time and call the cops. I'm pretty sure ducks are covered under the migratory bird act and abusing them openly can get heavy fines.

Not domesticated ducks
Ravioverlord@reddit
Ok? This was a duck at a pond so not domesticated.
W1ttyNickname@reddit
Most ducks in parks are considered domesticated. There can be wild ones, there can be hybrids (where domesticated ducks mate with local wild ducks). It can be very difficult to tell the difference. As such, it would be VERY difficult to prove an individual duck in a park i s migratory.

Even so it isn't worth risking messing with a bird that may be covered. Plus to stand around doing nothing when you can at least get the word out about awful humans abusing animals and allowing their children to do the same is better.

They need some Canadian geese at that park to show the little brats what happens when you mess with their duck buddies.

That or Plano Parks and Rec needs to hire Skips

I always say, it’s not the kids I hate, it’s the parents 🫠

One tried to eat my dog the other day.
Less_Professional896@reddit
A duck tried to eat your dog?? Jesus Christ man
sfa1500@reddit
Its a real duck eat dog world out there man. But seriously the video of that lady who they caught eating the cat was wild.

Also please don’t feed ducks bread, it’s just as bad for them as it is people. Frozen peas and blueberries work great!

I fish there on a regular and frankly speaking, never on the weekends, due to kids and their parents out there. My two girls have been taught not to mess with wildlife in general and why some find it to be OK is beyond me. If they weren't such a nuisance, a couple Muskovy ducks would make the kids think twice with their size alone.
Aurelius_0101@reddit
Get in their face and go all Les Grossman on ‘em.
Jedi71@reddit
They just need to duck and roll.
bobster36@reddit
Maybe the kid was trying to find out if the duck weighed the same as his mother? Because that would mean…
Loud_Internet572@reddit
A witch? Surely not in Plano though?
sfa1500@reddit
I got better....
attempthappy2020@reddit
Exactly.. teach kids not to hurt animals!
November9999@reddit
Do you know if we are allowed to eat them? duck L’orange, anyone?
WinnerNo3497@reddit
Better than trying to eat them
NeverJustaDream@reddit
We just need a couple titan sized ducks to do the same to the kids and then the parents will learn
