Help upgrading my system for a game

My computer has gotten quite old but this didn't bother me as I could still play most games, albeit on low settings. That was until Space Marine 2 came out. I can't even run it on the lowest settings. So I wish to upgrade to something that can at least play it on medium settings. I'm hoping that I don't have to upgrade my whole system, and can just do the processor and graphics card.

Current build: i5-6600k 3.50GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 8 GB RAM Z170A Gaming M5 motherboard 550W power supply I do have a SSD for the game to run on.

may not be possible, you can try just upgrading the gpu to an rx6600xt but your cpu is rather weak, even weaker than the one in this video, the gpu is not a rx6600xt but it's slightly weaker.

if you have to buy cpu+mobo+ram you may have to go beyond 500$

Damn, looks like i'll need to save up then. You think I'm looking at less than $1000 at least?

i think it will go slightly over 500 if you want to cheap out but it's probably more cost effective if you put in more

Yeah if I'm already gonna save up to go over budget, I'd rather get something decent that will last awhile. Thank you for your replies.
