hello, i’m 17 and a senior in high school. i’ve worked the same job for 3 years, but unfortunately we found out today that we are going out of business. i’m enrolled in a work release class at school, and if i don’t find a job in 2 weeks i have to leave the program. does anyone know of any part time jobs hiring teens in plano? i’m having a really hard time finding something id like. i really don’t want to work in food lol. id appreciate any help yall can provide:)

Do you have any interest in becoming an HVAC technician or plumber or electrician?
All retail is going to start staffing up here pretty soon for the Christmas season. I would tell you to go work at HEB or the Home Depot.

Its a shame the school only gives you 2 weeks. Dont get rushed into a bad fit just for their benefit; I can just say you work for me in construction if you need more time

Go on Facebook, find a local group for Plano or Frisco or a surrounding area. Search the group for posts about hiring. Find posts from small business owners looking for help. Message those folks, introduce yourself, and tell them you’re interested. Several of them will probably want to interview you.

Handel’s (Legacy and Independence) is hiring if you can work afternoons.

Literally anywhere. Go to the mall and go door to door filling out applications. You’ll get one easy.

Heard that going door-to-door doesn’t work anymore (even though the grandparents insist it works lol) and you’d just get told to apply online. But has this worked for anyone recently? That would be cool!

It helps to build some rapor with the manager. Don't go during g peak time. Smooze if you can incirporate work study and prior experience. Have resume to hand out. Then apply online. Or apply online first and IMMEDIATELY go in Person before the AI bot weeds you out.

Try any of the gyms or boutique fitness (like Orangetheory, Cyclebar, Pure Bar, etc). Also movie theatres. These are business that are likely to have positions that accommodate your school schedule.

Being 17 just makes yourself open to weekends and night shifts, retail is never the worst…not being 18 will set you back to some places though, Craigslist’s is a good place for on the spot jobs

where were you working and what part of plano? i've talked to teenage workers at tea2go (legacy/coit) and churn&bake (15th/independence) that enjoy their jobs. churn&bake is food, but what do you like?
