Best cpu for basic computer

I’m looking in to building a basic desktop for my parents as their current machine is getting quite dated. They don’t do anything that would require dedicated graphics, mostly just web browsing at 1080p 60hz. Are there any cpus in particular that stand out for their performance in this role?

Get them a pre-buit or a laptop.

14400F if u can spend, if not then even 14100 would suffice.

I put in a Ryzen 3 2200g + SSD for my parents web browsing PC in 2019 and it's still fast as hell for what it's used for. Not slowing down anytime soon.
That's a 4 core 4 thread CPU that's pretty slow by today's standards.
Todays i3, like a 12100 (4 cores/ 8 thread), would probably last years to come only being used for web browsing. I would recommend the lower Pentium Gold (2 cores/ 4 threads) or Celeron (2 cores/ 2 threads,) but it seems like the 12100 is not that much ahead in terms of price so may as well just go for that.
Over on AMD, AM5 currently doesn't have "cheap" options like that. Older AM4 has a 5300g (4 cores/ 8 thread) which could be an option.
If you want to save even more money, you could look into the used market for some older basic CPUs as I'm sure they'd be plenty for parent computer needs.

Lots will get the job done---12100 or 12400 probably the best little bang for the buck and get a basic GPU Could go with AMD either 5000G or 8000G which include integrated graphics.

Kind of depends on the web browsing. If it's literally just that, i.e. not even YouTube videos, then you're probably fine with literally anything with four cores and an iGPU.
If you want something modern, go with 5600G/5700G, any AM5 non-F, or any LGA1700 non-K, non-F.
