This was THE toy when I was a wee lad. Only knew one or two kids that had the full set.

I liked the other voltron better, the vehicle one. But yeah, I had the black lion. could never afford the rest.

Well maybe you can afford it (if you want of course) now. It's about $120 for the set.
Target regularly has the individual 40th anniversary lions (pictured) in stock. A couple online toy stores sell the 5 pack too.
With the initial buy most sold out and were out there at scalper prices. Now that there's regularly stock, you can get them at retail.

I got a couple of lions one Xmas because my parents didn’t understand you neeeeded the full set. That was also the year we got a bunch of D&D toys and the Fortress of Fangs instead of He-Man and Castle Grayskull.

I somehow managed to do it. I think my grandma got me the black lion for Christmas or birthday, I saved my allowance for another and the rest I picked up from garage sales or thrift stores. So it wasn't while the show was at its peak but close enough for it to be awesome for my poor ass.

Yes, me and my two brothers combined had the full set. #memoryunlocked

When you combined did you form your own mini Voltron?

No, my parents didn’t love me enough.

It was never really a thing in Australia or NZ, the big one there for Gen X was Monkey. Still, Japan continues to pump out the types of shows that Voltron was edited from and they're often cheaply dubbed into other Asian languages for kids. My son was more into other robot series, but big box store toy departments in parts of Asia are still full of this stuff.

Nope, but it was one of my favorite shows. I haven't thought about it in years!

Yes! My brother and I got it for Christmas one year long ago. My parents kept all our old toys so now my youngest has it in his bedroom. It's pretty unstable when fully assembled. Some of the connectors are also quite worn. When you try to lift it by the body, the legs usually slide off so you have to be careful with it. It works best sort of lying down instead of standing up at this point.
I have bins of old 80's toys. My son was just walking around playing with Silverhawks, Captain Power, and Robotech figures an hour ago. He doesn't know what they are but he imagines they are characters in Roblox.

Luckily I got the full set on Christmas of 1984 (I believe, maybe 85).

My brother did. It was the die cast metal versions of the lions.

Sadly no…

We did. We sold our Star Wars toys to afford it. We kinda regretted that in 1998-99.
