What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?
TheRealCropear@reddit
Yes on a RCA video disk player on an RCA color tv in a rural home in Oklahoma on a summer afternoon. Mofo just turned into a snake in my living room. FML before FML was a thing!!
Boondockstdedpoolgrl@reddit
I remember my mom going to the video store and either renting one of those or a vcr for the weekend.
TheLastBlakist@reddit
YOOOO You actually had one of those? I had thought they were a goddamend fever dream child-me had til I saw youtube about it.
TheRealCropear@reddit
They skipped so much when the needle got bad. And storing the Videodisc was not as easy as LPs. As they evolved if the casing was blue it was in stereo audio out. So you could run the composites to you HiFi. It was fantastico! We had Monty python holy grail and game of death (Bruce Lee)!
JohnnyLuchador@reddit
RIP Thulsadoom, thanks for giving Conan all sorts of problems you Wizard fuck.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
He had to school Conan about the power of the flesh.
TheLastBlakist@reddit
And then conan schooled him in the power of the will that flesh is bound to.
Y'know. Nothing to lose your head over.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
Touche my friend. Touche.
JohnnyLuchador@reddit
I went to school with a girl with the same haircut as Thulsa Doom, and i always addressed her as Thulsa, she never got it.
xubax@reddit
He was good as admiral Greer in the jack Ryan movies.

gullyfoyle777@reddit
Conan the barbarian and Flight of Dragons were the first times I saw James Earl Jones.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
Love Flight of Dragons. Jones as Omadon and Harry Morgan as Carolinus killed the game.
mixedcurve@reddit
Conan is actually a really personal film for me. As a kid it was the first R-rated film I ever saw. It was on TV a lot or I would catch the last half. Soon I had it memorized. His story of forging his destiny by his own hand helped me get through a rough childhood and have hope, to fight bad circumstances. Thulsa Doom was absolutely part of that story. He was grand, imposing, and actually right, but for the wrong reasons. RIP Mr. Jones you legend.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
The sound track by Basil Pouldouris took me through a huge battle with weight loss. It really is a special film all around.
BigTomAbides@reddit

I have noticed today that millennials tend to cute Lion King while Xennials and older tend to cite Darth Vader as what they remember him most in. It’s pretty interesting to see how people remember these iconic actors when they pass.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
Well I'm actually technically Gen X. Born June 76. Still I identify most with this community for a lot of shared experiences. This role when I was a kid stuck with me. The scene where he transformed into a snake blew my mind back then.
IamHydrogenMike@reddit
I have seen some people post about sandlot or Conan…it’s just interesting how he crossed so many generations and made an impact on all of them.
Orlando1701@reddit
By Dawns Early Light or Dr. Strangelove or Stone Gardens are all great films he did but Field of Dreams will always be peak Jones to me.
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit (OP)
I'm from Iowa so that tracks.

GeetarEnthusiast85@reddit
Yeah, that's why I listed "The Genie of the Lamp"
drvic59@reddit
Genie of the lamp?
GeetarEnthusiast85@reddit
Faerie Tale Theatre did its own rendition of Aladdin and James Earl Jones played the Genie.
