Standalone ecu advice 2JZ mk3 Supra
Posted by kohuch@reddit | projectcar | View on Reddit | 9 comments
I purchased a mk3 supra with a 2jz-ge non vvti na-t turbo setup currently running stock ecu and am looking for advice and suggestions for the build to improve. I’m wanting to budget an ecu to ideally an aem v2 if it came up on marketplace although it’ll be tough to work with or I kick the ball and get a haltech. Any suggestions on this or other recommendations for the setup? Goal is 400-450hp reliably, already plan to get injectors done with ecu.

Are you planning on having a go at tuning it yourself, or are you planning on having it tuned by a pro? If the former, I would recommend downloading each ECUs respective software and seeing what you like the most. If the latter, just ask your tuner what platform they prefer the most.
I wanted to be as hands-on as possible and ended up going with the haltech elite 2500. So far, the -only- thing I've run into that I don't like is the inability to set individual knock thresholds if you're running multiple sensors.
Mines controlling a 2jzgte vvti on a mk4 supra. Dash/AC/everything still runs and works like stock, only interior mod is can keypad.

Yea taking it in a shop to get tuned and I know a guy who can do a custom harness

Ask the guy doing the tune what she/he prefers to work with, then go get that.

Megasquirt or Megasquirt lite depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

I wouldn't run an aem ems at all since they no longer make ecus and doubtful will be providing support anymore.
Another company you can look at is maxxecu.

If all you want is 450hp you can just run a piggyback like MAPECU on the stock computer.

Haltech/LinkECU/ECUMaster

Look into rusefi could have a setup already or otherwise easy to use. Works with tuner studio and is open source.
