I’m getting a metal cabinet and filling it up with medical supplies, I’ve been looking into everything that I’ve been looking into buying, and now I’m just about to figure out how to organize it before I pull the trigger on buying it all. Honestly kinda excited about it.
Prepandpraypeace@reddit
Where will you get your antibiotics from? I’m looking into Jase Case but it’s so expensive
aLproxyy@reddit
I promise you, you can build a better set up then what a prebuilt medical supplies will give you. You can look up medication that is over the counter that will help you just as much. If you’re thinking on pulling the trigger on the cost of that just do what I’m doing. If I get everything I want all at once it’ll cost around 600$ compared to Jase case’s prepper set. It’s 1,600$. So you’re saving a grand. I’ll link my medical supply setup that I’m considering through Amazon. I’m still doing research on some stuff as I want to make sure it’s from a respectable seller. Here is my list. Not every idea I have in my mind is in here. But the medicines I have in these are the base. I’m buying at least 5 minimum of each. Solid pills also last longer. 3 - 5 years after expiration date depending on production methods and how you store should leave it with around 80% as effective as if it were new. This is just a start. I plan on having alcohol wipes and the liquid, plus bins to store them in an organized way. This list is very much always changing. But that’s essentially the start of my medical prepping set. Let me know what you think
Prepandpraypeace@reddit
I think this list is great. A few items on there I would likely rather get from Costco at a cheaper price. I have 2 small children and picked up a few things already. Just worried about not having antibiotics for them just in case.
aLproxyy@reddit
Yeah, I failed to mention that the Medicine that I’ve picked is what I’ll go for but I plan on finding the best price. Maybe a few things I’ll go ahead and buy but I’ll probably find cheaper alternatives elsewhere. Like Walmart, Costco, Sam’s club etc. but all the meds you see will be enough for most people unless they have some underlying condition.

Worked on my fall/winter stock up list. I live in a rural area and have tiny children, so I save for a few months during the summer and go shopping in early October to stock up so I don’t have to go out in the winter.
Bought the fertilizer for my apple trees.
Took a few extra walks to increase my daily step counts.
Prepandpraypeace@reddit
Bought 6 55-gallon drums, filling them now!

None of these Mfers understand that you don’t give your secrets 😂 like yeah I could be an innocent redditor looking for tips but I could also be the governments of our world finding out what to tweak my moab 😂😂

4 quarts full of hardtack made, going to make some salt pork next.

I got some pickle pipes to start experimenting more with natural fermentation processes.
It's not much, but should contribute something towards furthering production of wines, meads, and fermented foods.
https://www.masontops.com/products/pickle-pipe (not an endorsement as I just got these).

Local orchard was hitting end of season for Jonathan apples, so the u-pick was half price. I'm processing the 80lbs we picked over the weekend, which is triggering a pantry overhaul. Got back on my erg a couple of weeks ago and I increased my distance this week. Continuing getting appointments set up for me/kids/pets. Continuing reorganizing water storage.

It's Monday so last week: worked out 3x. Went for long walks with the wife and dog.

Fitness should be priority #1. This is the only comment I see so far that mentions fitness.
I put on heavy pack and walk up mountain.

Bought some 85 cent chestnut hill cans, bought flour for hardtack, made charred punk wood/crude charcoal, put some kerosene in a winded bottle from the trash, and also bought medicine. Found out cooked pine sap is used for wound repair and I've been using it as a pine sol substitute.

Got some compact waterproof jackets to go in our vedc. Kept on top of our deap pantry.

Got my first 2 buckets of dry foods sealed in mylar bags and labeled buckets.

Over the last month I have been testing with my Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus to get a good idea of real life requirements and how I will have to ration power to keep everything happy. My biggest revelation was my old gas 5000w generator pouring 700 watts into the Jackery to fast charge it over the solar panels. The Jackery recharge backup will be the generator and then the solar panels.

Besides the endless projects this time of year, I made time to reorganize my pantry and other shelving and bins. It's been on my list for a couple months and I hadn't gotten to it, and it was making everything harder and take longer lol thank goodness it's out of the way. Took inventory of all consumables since everything was torn apart anyway.
Added a few new cookbooks to the library - I enjoy collecting, and they're eternally useful, even just for inspiration. Working on upping my bread game.
We've added a dog to the family this year, so I'm working on a list of meds that are available OTC for him. We've got a little bit of extra dry food (etc.) in rotation for him, though my understanding is it only lasts so long, I'm guessing because of the fat content? I also know dogs are much more flexible than cats in their diets...but kibble is an easy thing to stock a little more of.
Savable seeds are being saved from the garden (and from elsewhere on the property). Food preservation in process. Adding a very basic storage shed for things that can be stored at any temp. It's here we just gotta put it up.
I think that's it. I'm gonna need a vacation after this month lol

Trying to restock my preps. Slowly but surely. I went through some financial strain the last year or so due to health issues. Having preps (pantry items, extra supplies, savings, etc) really helped me out. I wasn't as stressed since I knew I had a buffer. This is why we prep.

Got two more 30 gallon propane tanks for the generator. They last about 12 hours each.
Went and talked to the neighbors since they were having a garage sale, trying to interact with the local community more lately instead of ignoring they exist. Exchanged cell numbers with them too.
Got a data plan for my laptop, nice for when internet goes down but cell towers still up, can use it easier out and about without needing to spend phone battery on a hotspot.
Plans for this week: Move water filtration system from hiking storage to get home bag, might see if I can find a pouch that holds it all together nicely.

Bought thermal. Nvg. And a bluetti ac180. 264 gallon water bladder. Shoring up some last minute things. Extra batteries. Vitamins. Maybe another flashlight or two. Electric blankets to plug into the bluetti.
less_butter@reddit
I highly recommend testing this out to see how long the Bluetti will keep the blankets warm before you need to rely on it.
I did it without testing... at my off-grid cabin that has a decent battery setup (4000Wh). My wife likes an electric blanket when it's cold and it didn't last half the night before the inverter shut off due to low battery voltage. My battery system wasn't fully topped-off, but the blanket used a lot more power than I figured it would.
A typical electric blanket will use 100-150 watts (thanks, AI). The Bluetti AC180 has 1152Wh of energy. So that's about 10 hours of one electric blanket, assuming you can use all of the power - but you can't. The inverter will shut off before you can squeeze all of those watts out of it. The only way to tell for sure how long it'll last is to just try it. I think the Bluetti's have some fancy electronics that will tell you how many hours/minutes you have left with the current usage so that might help, you don't have to let the battery run down. But it would give you a lot of peace of mind if you did do a full test and see how long it takes the battery to run down.
Specialist_Loan8666@reddit
I will. But there are many videos of people running blankets all night on small power stations

Further improving my truck kit. Added a Nalgene to my truck as well as an emergency bivvy. Did some organization at home and looked into better organizing my emergency defense kit.
