Rechargeable NOAA alert radio?

I’m looking for a portable NOAA weather alert radio that’s suitable for backpacking. It should have standby mode capability and not need continuous power— (ideally, a recharge once a week). Does anything like this exist? 😅

There are many hand crank radios on Amazon. They usually have rechargeable batteries, solar, and a hand crank. They are typically AM/FM/NOAA and usually also have a flashlight. Most can also change a phone as well.

This is what I have too. Note that nearly none of them have a weather alert function. Personally, that’s not a function I need when backpacking. I check the weather once or twice a day and can otherwise, ya know, see if that storm is rolling in faster than predicted.

Yes weather alerts are not necessary not to mention you don’t want a random alert going off and giving away your position or scaring away a potential meal.

The WX alerts on the Midland ER310 can be disabled/enabled by the user.

OP was specifically asking for WX alerts.

I understand that but an audible alarm is not a good idea and it limits the options. Just turn it on and check the weather report from time to time. It’s broadcasted 24/7 in 7 different channels.

The radio I suggest everyone has is the Midland ER310 but if your looking for something a little more compact for backpacking, go with the ER50.
Mechanik7@reddit
The ER310 is a good choice for longer trips as you can also use AA batteries with it in addition to the included 18650 lithium rechargeable.

Baofeng is cheap and does NOAA

If you want a simpler one, baofeng makes the G11s which is a gmrs radio that is great, has noaa and gmrs has no test to use (technically you pay for licenses)
