I've never been more excited to be so in over my head! My first Project car is this 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider!

May the SPICA gods smile upon youÂ

I'm pretty sure that's why the engine isn't running, so pray the fix is cheaper than a swap to Webers.

I've got a digital copy of Wes Ingram's SPICA manual, but I'm not familiar with Cardisc, thank you for the recommendation!

Definitely follow his manual, especially regarding the primary fuel system and use of the pressure warning light, but I wouldn't even bother calling him if you need a pump rebuilt- he's booked years out. Pray you can fix it by messing with the TA and fuel delivery🙏

Dad had two… and hey are a fun car to drive!

A friend of mine had this car, the clutch slave cylinder has a lancia replacement; but it's a bit too long, so you may have to grind some off of thepushrod. Ask me how I know. Awesome car to drive!

I smartly took the picture at a good angle.
Pretty much everything needs work. The body is really solid, but the front fenders have some bubbles under the paint and the driver side will need a patch panel, aside from a smidge of surface rust, there's this weird paint bubbling on the trunk lid that doesn't at all look like rust. The interior pretty much all needs to be redone: Dash is cracked, windshield is cracked, Leather seats are torn, and the passenger seat was at some point impaled by the top's folding mechanism breaking and stabbing into the seat where someone's shoulder would rest. While in thinking about it, the top has seen many better days; the less said about the carpet, the better.
Also, the engine doesn't run, which is a bummer. I currently believe I have narrowed down that issue to the fuel system needing work, and of course anything even resembling rubber has dry rotted past the point of saving, so tires, mounts, Ect will need to be swapped. Finally, the mirrors and wipers are held on with hopes and dreams, but I can intend to swap those out for the earlier chrome/repro stainless mirrors, wipers, and bumpers so those were going to get tossed anyway.
Thankfully 99% of what I need is in production from various distributors or refurb services, and the last 1% will involve little things like learning to make simple gaskets, which I'm told isn't hard.

Ah the ever popular "good side" photos, this isn't Tinder!!
It's still a 45 year old Italian car, I assumed it appears nicer than it is, but it's actually way worse !

Great car, although the engine isn't exactly beginner friendly.

Congrats! And welcome to the Alfa addiction! Those series 2 spiders are a great project car and not hard to work on.
First things first, go find the Alfabb.com and start reading up on the Spica injection system. It’s not hard to work on, but you can’t just start turning screws. I bet the electric pump is dead. If you get that pump working, new fuel hoses and filters, and check the Thermostatic Actuator, I bet it will start. (Oh and new spark plugs of course).
The Alfa Club (AROC) is also full of super friendly and knowledgeable people happy to help.
Enjoy!

They are fun when they run right.
Good luck, have fun, carry tools when driving it.
