If you speed in a active school zone doing 50 in a 15 you should lose your license. If you get to that point you just given up caring. Normally I would put anyone out like this but you truly are trucking scum.

I find real joy in slowing down to active school zone speeds. Knowing I'm not only doing my part to be safe in that area but also really pissing off the 4 wheelers trying to fly through them is a small pleasure with this job. And when they do pass me at speed just makes their actions more obvious lol
PrinceTeg@reddit (OP)
See I feel exactly the same way you do. Plus if slowing down for kids is what's going to make you late you probably shouldn't be driving.
StolenRage@reddit
Please tell me you called the company and reported this.
PrinceTeg@reddit (OP)
100% I called but I'm sure nothing will be done.
StolenRage@reddit
You have done what you can then. I hope for the children's sake that they do something.
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
Not really. Calling the local police or sheriff's dept is what would have led to real consequences.
ConwayHGV@reddit
Not without some sort of evidence, even a photo or video wouldn’t be enough because it doesn’t measure speed.
Guuuda@reddit
You can absolutely measure speed in a video
ConwayHGV@reddit
How exactly?
Guuuda@reddit
Google it
StolenRage@reddit
They can't do shit unless they see it, or the driver is dumb enough to admit to it.
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
Really? Being a witness doesn't do anything?
StolenRage@reddit
The oy thing that might help is the tattle-tells on the truck itself. Gps, speed/tach, and any other devices the company has installed.
TheRealMrSpeedBump@reddit
He said/she said situation.
PinInitial1028@reddit
Why would you think nothing would be done? It's a pretty serious thing.
TransportationBig547@reddit
Cop callers lol
TractorHp55k@reddit
Maybe civil engineers should make Federal roadways to conduct commercial traffic away from school zones, I noticed that there is a lot of areas where there's business right next to a school zone and it makes no sense course that could also be on the business owners as well cuz as a driver I don't like going through slow zones it is a waste of time and it's unnecessary traffic it's not as if I want to go through the school zone but there are a lot of instances where that's the only way that I'll get to my customer, people also need to discipline their kids to not dart out into traffic, it didn't take a hand full of whippings for my ass to realize that was not something good to do.
Guuuda@reddit
One of the most ignorant comments to date
TwoToadsKick@reddit
What? So youre saying schools should be in their own secluded section of the world? No gas stations, food or anything?
TractorHp55k@reddit
They can be near civilian locations I'm just saying that business and Commercial areas should be secluded away from school zones cuz that's just accidents waiting to happen it isn't just big rigs that go through school zones when there's business next to them there's big tractors and other dangerous machines, it makes no sense and I'm not saying that there should be signs put up I'm saying that the businesses have enough money to buy a safe area of land that is a safe distance from the school zone they're just being cheap by putting it right next to a school zone and residential.
Mindes13@reddit
Sometimes the best route isn't on the interstate so you end up going through school zones at times to get from point a to point b. It has nothing to do with commercial warehouse or businesses being near the schools.
TractorHp55k@reddit
Respectfully I would beg to differ I'm from Southern California and my current residence area is being switched to a commercial business environment they're building warehouses left and right, we have petitioned with the city for them not to build the warehouses near us cuz it's already blocked out the view of the mountains and they want to put one right next to us when there's plenty of free open cheap land elsewhere, plus the property value is going to go down once they finish building those warehouses as well. Of course I understand that right off the interstate you won't be able to directly get to your customer but as of right now I'm hauling produce and there's a handful of places that are near schools and residents which is unnecessary there's a meat market up in Northern California Bay Area that's built in a residential area I'm not sure who was there first but it is completely stupid how the only way to get through it is to either go through the residential and find some way to turn around through the tight city corners, once you get there they don't have a loading Bay so they'll unload you off the street where you parked right next to the building plus you can't idle and on top of that there are signs all over the business that say no trucks allowed because the area is still primarily residential, but what's even stupider is the company will charge you a hundred bucks if you go down the wrong Street, and the street that they give you to go down is filled with cars you can barely turn with a 53 ft trailer and a full sleeper truck someone in the comments might know who I'm talking about because they have quite a few customers Who deliver with 53 ft trailers I know B&B transport out of Fresno has delivered up there and SmartWay Express also out of Fresno goes there quite often to deliver as well.
joezupp@reddit
Did you contact the company?? Or just put him on blast here? I’ll call the company and provide the info to their safety department. Then i would post here, lol. I spent 33 years driving, seems the newer drivers are always in a rush. I’m glad i went back into mechanics as i got old
LloydAsher0@reddit
I get the same euphoria when I have to stop at railroad tracks.
"Oh gee sorry I'm taking 10 seconds out of your day so I could 100% avoid a train hitting my gas truck"
Extra_Significance81@reddit
With 3 years of fuel and another 5 years of other chemicals behind me I can appreciate this.
DaHick@reddit
As a 4 wheeler, I appreciate this.
JusgementBear@reddit
I do the same thing and I throw a lot of lights one and go diagonal in the lane when there is school school Bus dropping off kids
PinInitial1028@reddit
That's probably just much more dangerous. People will now be pissed at you and blindly race around you only to discover a group of kids getting off a bus.
Extra_Significance81@reddit
Nice. I'll use my 4 ways myself when stopping for a bus.
ignoreme010101@reddit
school zones, construction zones etc, am glad to read this I do the same :)
OrdinarySalary@reddit
If it’s a 2 lane road and there’s a cop I get behind the cop so morons speed right by em. Only worked once so far but it felt so good 😂
Vorenious1@reddit
You become the real hero also blocking the traffic for a school bus dropping kids off. Watched a video yesterday of a woman who saw her children get run over getting on/off the bus
HeywoodJaBlowMe123@reddit
I had the satisfaction of witnessing a 4wheeler get pulled over for speeding in a school zone.
I was in the right lane going the speed limit, this 4wheeler zipped into the left lane and started going 10+ over the limit. The fun part was, I saw the cop tucked away on my right side, so when the 4wheeler went to pass me on my left, my truck was essentially blocking the view for the 4wheeler to see the cop. Cop saw the whole thing, waited for me to pass, pulled out of his hiding spot, and went on by me with his lights to pull over that car. Lol
I so badly wanted to tap my air horn a couple times as i went by, but i figured i won’t push my luck and “rub it in their face”. I had myself a good laugh going by, though.
Extra_Significance81@reddit
I can't tell you how many times I've wished for that scenario!
Handmedownfords@reddit
Yup. Me too. If anyone ever smoked my child in a school zone they wouldn’t keep me from them
Show_Quality_Trash@reddit
I love doing this lol
niayasparxx@reddit
I appreciate this post. A lot of us are parents so when fellow truckers, who are supposed to be professional truck operators, do dick moves like that it can be very discouraging. Seeing others that call out the bs and demonstrate that they actually care brings me joy.
Plane_Computer2205@reddit
Lose their license? They should be tossed out of the door of a helicopter!
oasuke@reddit
55mph in 15mph, especially an active school zone is definitely grounds for having your license suspended
Throwmesometail@reddit
And yet we get drivers who do this on weekends
PontoonDood@reddit
The school zone by my house IS 50mph when the signs are flashing. 60 normally.
unlikely_intuition@reddit
I don't mess around in school zones. the reason they exist is.... awful.... and I want nothing to do with that.
Arnhildr-Fang@reddit
One of my company's drivers was a SUPER dumbass & did that, but did that past a stopped schoolbus, oh I was livid when my boss showed that clip on the dash cam & the pics of the police report (police was THANKFULLY behind the schoolbus & gave the max for every violation possible. I hate that he gave my company a bad score & me a bad img, but glad he was fired on the spot
Royal_Prize_4381@reddit
I speed basically everywhere I go, believe me but one place I don’t speed is school zones.
PrinceTeg@reddit (OP)
I am basically in that same boat as you. I won't lie I do speed but school zones and active construction zones are a big NO NO for me. (Before trucking I did construction work it sucks having a semi haul ass 2 feet from your face.)
Also HAPPY CAKE DAY!!!
Royal_Prize_4381@reddit
Thanks lol!
SkribbyCakes33@reddit
Just call the local office and explain.
StalinPaidtheClouds@reddit
Nobody cares about anybody else, even little kids, and it's pretty fuckin sad. Like that TikTok trucker that killed 5 and barely showed any remorse on scene, more concerned about his leg and if he was in trouble. Narcissistic assholes.
Good on you, OP.

easymachtdas@reddit

gamergabe85@reddit
Speed in a school zone once in my car when I was younger and got a $300 ticket. Never done it again. I could only imagine what it is in a truck.
mike-2129@reddit
Aren't school zones 25? What do you mean put anyone out?
mvamv@reddit
Depends on the state/city/jurisdiction you're in. Where I live, it's 20mph.
johnarmysf123@reddit
I live in Harrisburg Pennsylvania and school zones are 15 mph
Garydrgn@reddit
Where I am it varies by road size and normal speed limit, from 15 MPH to 35 MPH.
CHAOS-GOON@reddit
Where I live if any road went that slow it would cause so much road rage it would be more dangerous than just letting the school zone be 25mph where everyone goes 30mph. I obey the speed limit but you can only get these brain dead idiots to go so slow before they start acting even more dangerously.
Waisted-Desert@reddit
15 or 25 here, depending on the the location of the street in relation to the school.
https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/School%20Zones.120428.pdf
IIRC, the last place I lived it depended on whether it was elementary, middle, or high school.
Grouchy_Cobbler_4935@reddit
Uhh where I live it's 15 when kids are present and 25 when not
OkinawaNah@reddit
Here in San Diego it's 25 if there's cops and 55 or 65 since the speed limit is 55
DEeZ_NutZ_KiLLaKill_@reddit
He’s say put on blast: company name/ truck type/ ID #
bloodsoed@reddit
Rule 7 & 8
mike-2129@reddit
Gotcha. Yeah definitely. Construction and school zones. No one slows down anymore.
didmyselfasolid@reddit
In New Zealand the law is 20kmh (12.5mph) when going past a school bus in both directions until well clear of the bus.
Our general built-up area speed limit is 50kph (30mph).
Exceeding the speed limit by 40kph or more is instant loss of licence for 3 months - right there on the spot - gone - call a taxi.
Lots of people do 60kph in a 50kph zone too so when they are pinged by a cop doing 60kph past a stationary school bus they get quite the surprise.
lord_nuker@reddit
As they should get, former school bus driver here.
lord_nuker@reddit
Wait, you wont lose your license doing 50 in a 15 school zone? Heck, over here that would a mighty fine, 3-5 years without any license and some jail time or a nice ankle bracelet at least.
ScarcityTough5931@reddit
I will speed anywhere except a school zone.
colleensdoormat@reddit
So you’re ok with killing the kids in mom’s minivan as long as they’re not near a school?
ScarcityTough5931@reddit
No, dickweed, because usually the mom's minivan is passing me. They're some of the worst speeders. Run along now.
dirtyoldman20@reddit
Holy shit .just realized both my wife and mom have lead feet
saykylenotcow@reddit
Getting fired is definitely better than getting multiple facial fractures after the father of the child you ran over rips you out of the day cab and helps progress your facial reconstructive plastic surgery appointment.
Grouchy_Cobbler_4935@reddit
I do not if the fathers in most kids lives are there to care enough now sadly
freaking_kickass@reddit
Oh, fuck off
rememberleapinglanny@reddit
I was approaching a school zone once, I slowed down and put my flasher's on. There was a douche in a BMW riding my ass, and like the typical douche BMW driver he instantly passed me, and there was a cop sitting right in front of the school, he pulled him over instantly. Karma got him good that day.
jamar2k@reddit
You're not, it happened to me I got a 500 dollar ticket, thing is I didn't make any excuses for it although the sun was blinding even more of reason not to have been speeding I owned it, felt like shit, the cop thanked me for being polite and holding myself accountable
EastSideFlo@reddit
All school zones should have speed photo enforcement 📸
TruckinTuba@reddit
School zone 15? Where im at they're all 25, but that doesn't excuse their actions
clairered27@reddit
So single lane is 15 single with a median/ turning lanes is 25 double lanes is 35 and double with median is 45. The highest I've seen is 45 for a school zone.
TruckinTuba@reddit
Really?? Where have you seen these? I usually only see 20
clairered27@reddit
All over I've done alot of city driving but that's normally what they follow sometimes you will get the 20 or random 10 but they normally follow that.
clairered27@reddit
I know alot of busses are getting cameras when people don't stop for them. They should have they in school zones as well. So people get sent a ticket.
NoBandicoot8047@reddit
Call the local police/sheriff dept, they LOVE setting up traps for scumbags like that.
This also highlights the downside of them being governed so slow that they feel the need to speed like that
Leek-434@reddit
If you're putting kids in danger, to hell with you. (Not YOU you, just the general 'you') ;)
ndarmr@reddit
They put them in danger by hooking Tesla semis on the front of their trailers. Going 50 plus is just an added insult to injury
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
Just make sure it’s posted everywhere, not just a movie neybgrab
iNaturalSelection@reddit
Imagine how much effort it took for you to write this post, probably deciphering his trailer number like the DaVinci code in a picture or dashcam. Just for Mr Frito to never see it, very unfortunate

danDotDev@reddit
Like, I'm against photo enforced speed limits/traffic lights in general, but as a former teacher, I think they should be mandatory for school zones.
Racer187@reddit
Sure, why not? The cameras are widely used on the school busses nowadays so why not in the active school zones? Other than the cost, what is the downside?
Temporary-Yogurt-484@reddit
Yup. Zero respect for such a selfish stupid person. If you do this, you're not a man, you're a Lil cry baby bitch
