Quote from the article.
Barak Richman, professor at George Washington University’s law school, called the US government’s ad tech lawsuit a “fascinating case that is harder and perhaps more important than the Google search case.”
“It illustrates the policy tension of what happens when a company creates a new market, which is presumptively good, and then hardwires the market for self-advancement, which is presumptively bad,” he said.
Google has passed from beneficial to tech growth to just being a monopoly bent on holding control. Gone are the days 'just do good' and caring about the users. Time to start breaking up these massive tech companies.

A big shift I've noticed is in Android. The Play Store blocks perfectly workable older applications (can be sideloaded so confirmed functional on a technical level). The key here is how many free hobbyist open source or lifetime purchased licence options (all ad free) this has effectively wiped out for the typical user. The app store today appears to preference ad-supported apps only, using, you guessed it, Google's ad business as provider.

But it works so well with forcing constant upgrades to the software. Not a problem for a corp shop but kills the open source guys.
