You know, it's better than Windows applying updates while the laptop is closed and detached from power and then powering up all the way once they apply so it's dead in the morning when you need to use your computer.
OS X has the only functional hibernation support of any major operating system.
This antifeature by Windows is really annoying. The more I use Linux, the more I question what Microsoft is doing. I am curious if and how many people will finally make the switch after Recall is spying on them.
I refuse to update my personal computer up to Windows 11, and when Windows 10 gets EoL'd next October I have a MacBook Air and a remote (next room over) Linux server for development. So many day-to-day tools are now fully in-browser, and for everything else there are virtual machines (unless you're really unlucky with your software options).
If Microsoft wants to play stupid games then they better be ready for the consequences. They'll never be irrelevant, but they'll definitely push the average consumer away as Apple continues to make their ecosystem more integrated and convenient to work with. Windows on Arm will probably be the last straw for a lot of people as they get stuck with dogshit x86 emulation or transpilation that's a fraction as good as Rosetta 2.
I notice this when I activate my Win10 computer on my left side. Takes quite a bit longer. (To be fair, I use IceWM most of the time, and I disable all screensavers on linux, such as KDE when I use it. I don't fully understand why software-screensavers are really useful.)
