ULPT request: is selling tall patio propane warmers worth it?

Actual unethical request.
You know this tall gas patio warmers? I know of a private lot that has about a dozen of these sitting out in front. They are nice brands and look to be fairly expensive, as in $200+ new. They are light as can be and all next to eachother so the whole steal could be done in like 15 seconds with a couple buddies and a truck.
Does anybody know if they resale for anything worth it? Clearing $1000 for 6 of them would be "worth" the risk for me.
Its a big business, not private folks.

Would be pretty cool if the owner happened to be there armed when you came to clean him out. i’d love to watch the cctv vid.

It's not an unethical request, it is an illegal request
Anthonest@reddit (OP)
Do the two not overlap? Although I didn't ask for anything illegal at all, my question was just if anybody had experience selling them and more broadly how much they went for.
If you have a problem with how I plan to acquisition them then this is probably the wrong sub to be in.

Read the sub rules maybe.

They're not asking for ways to steal stuff. They're asking for how to fence stolen stuff. It's totally different!

Lmfao im not asking for that either, I've got that covered. As I've said in the thread and other comments, im asking about prices / what the market for them is like.
Reading comprehension.

Stuff, like propane heaters for example, that is stolen would make it "stolen stuff". So what you're saying is you have everything covered, including a buyer?
The answer to your dumb question, without you providing ANY important details that would determine value (condition, location, climate, season, etc) is "however much you can get for them".
BlottomanTurk@reddit
Resale value would be 10-50%, depending on how used/old they are, your time frame, and your resale market (both geographically and class-wise).
If you want them gone quick, you should expect less money. Ideally, you should have a buyer lined up already so that you can flip them before the business even notices and files a police report. Then you also won't have to deal with all the extra steps.
govcov@reddit
I bought one used for $20.
workitloud@reddit
Post one on FB Marketplace & see what is offered, and the number of responses. That would finger you, if someone sees it. If you get 6, that could be a felony, depending upon their original cost, including tanks and propane. You also have to cut in your accomplices, and all of you face the same charges.
Monarc73@reddit
Resell in a non-local market. Don't use anyone to help you. Rent a truck if you need to. This way you are taking all the risk, but don't have to worry about 'leaks'.
I would plan on selling them for 110 - 120 each, if you have a good story about why you have them. "I'm renovating a restaraunt. Owner is buying new ones, and just told me to get rid of them" ...etc.
SomeDumbPenguin@reddit
It's risky... How do you plan on selling them? Obviously the "used" price isn't going to be as good as new... If the cops get several reports of those puppies disappearing in an area & find someone selling them on Craigslist or something, they might start asking questions
Anthonest@reddit (OP)
The risk and the "how" are already well figured out, im not asking for advice on that, nor could I per rule 5. My question pertains the the value of the heaters themselves and how easy they are to sell, legal or otherwise.
IrradiantFuzzy@reddit
"Is it worth it?"
Not for you.
Anthonest@reddit (OP)
What does this even mean?
ZombiesAtKendall@reddit
When I do crime (in theory), I do crime alone.
Then you run into a dilemma, try and move them right away and people will be on the lookout. Sit on them and you need storage plus risk being caught with hot goods.
If you do this with buddies they will probably want their cut right away.
You will have to look up used prices. If you can’t find any used then that could be a problem because they will get looking out for them.
Ideally you would have a buyer beforehand and they would be aware of their origin. But you would also get less than $ for them.
Might also want to keep in mind what dollar amount is considered a felony and stay under that (probably under $1,000).
Large niche items that you don’t have a buyer for and will need accomplices for, probably not the best idea.
Anthonest@reddit (OP)
I'm mostly asking for selling advice here because you're right about all the above, which is why I'll probably avoid it all and just tip off a local for a cut instead of doing it myself. But I've got to know if the goods themselves are worth the trouble of selling for that to even be an option.
Hypothetically, when I do crime, id rather play the feeler and get paid for info, instead of putting my own person at the scene.
Kamiden@reddit
That's a really niche item. It might take time you don't want to be holding them for. If you can get a brand, you might be able to find prices.
jackrats@reddit
Wrong sub. You're looking for r/IAmATotalPieceOfShit

Rule 5
kerodon@reddit
It's so specific and they're so large that I imagine you'd get caught pretty easily if you tried to resell locally.
