i7 9700f overheating

I installed an i7 9700F. I previously had a Pentium Gold G5400, and now the CPU usage is around 30% while idle and 80%–90% while playing League of Legends. But now is overheating; while on the desktop, it reaches 70°C to 80°C, and when I start any game, like FC24 or League of Legends, it goes up to a solid 100°C and usually drops to 94°C. I'm using the Intel stock cooler and thermal paste. Is it recommended to use a water cooler?

…. You’re using a stock cooler for a weaker cpu on a higher end cpu that it’s not made for…
Yeah, get a better air cooler.

Do you have any recommendations? I’m currently using the cooler that came with the i7.

I would recommend ps120 but… not sure if it has the bracket for your cpu. Pa120 is also an option but same question.

Thanks! I’ll review and buy one asap

That cooler can handle modern high mid range CPUs so … you don’t have to buy another one when setting a new system. Don’t lose the brackets it comes with.

Repaste and get an aftermarket air cooler. Stock coolers suck.

Thanks for the recommendation!
