I see your Anne Gedes and I raise you one Mary Englebreit for the slightly cooler 90’s mom.

This look changed many previously baby blue and goose motif’d kitchens.

My cool mom definitely had this fridge magnet

I was thinking of this after the Gedes post! My mom loved Mary Englebreit but had no interest in Gedes.
aqua_vida@reddit
Yep, had this too!😂

And I raise you a Laurel Burch

I never put together that the end of the goose border and M.E. was some sort of timeline but it tracks.

She’s from my hometown, so imagine how much Mary Engelbreit stuff your moms and teachers had and then multiply it by a hundred.
Her sweetness and ubiquity made me hate her for years, but it turns out she’s rather cool. She sells social justice-themed prints that benefit Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center, and also has an edgier “Engeldark” line.
So Mary comes for us all, sooner or later!

My mom has been obsessed with her forever, too! We’ve had so much ME stuff in the house over the years. I really love how she uses her art for good stuff like you mentioned. My mom sends me posts every so often and I love how she’s not afraid to call out commenters if they give her guff about it. She’s definitely cool.

I hate how much I like this lol
VioletVenable@reddit
Same! I was like, “All right, bitch, you finally got me!” 😂
CactusHide@reddit
I like the art style of the picture you posted. I’m going to have to check that stuff out!

So lovely. Just the fact she used black and red as the foundation in most of her stuff made her “alt-mom chic” in the small midwestern town I grew up in. Glad to hear she’s still at it with a good cause. I’d gladly buy something from her.
laurenishere@reddit
I had this poster on my wall! Gifted to me by my mom, of course, who bought it at the Mary Engelbreit store at the mall. Yes, there was a whole store!
z_iiiiii@reddit
My mom was super into these! Memory unlocked!
giraffemoo@reddit
Every year for Xmas I'd buy my mom a calendar/planner with this stuff on it.
tessathemurdervilles@reddit
My aunt is the crafting queen and whenever I visited we’d do a Mary englebreit iron on sweatshirt and do a bunch of fun flourishes on them with puff paint! Such memories…

My mom was firmly entrenched in goose motif. Today I learned something new.

My mom was a manager at a Hallmark store and was absolutely psyched when ME did a signing there. I’m pretty sure she still has a few signed pictures, including this one, somewhere even if they aren’t hanging up.
TheFrozenFlamingo@reddit
I was 16 and working for Hallmark- I was a Beanie baby dealer on the low bc of the crazy people who shopped there 😭
CactusHide@reddit
“Ya’ll got any of those pink flamingos with teal feet?”

I live in Florida, so many long rained out summer weekends were spent with us inside hovering around one of her puzzles. 🧩
steamed_pork_bunz@reddit
My grandma bought me a jigsaw puzzle of this print ❤️
SlytherClaw79@reddit
My mom used to call me “The Princess of Quite A Lot”, so yeah, safe to say she loved ME.
hillyj@reddit
Moms? Do you mean middle schoolers, because I looooved Mary Englebreit
Glittering_Tea5502@reddit
I used to have those calendars.

Life is just cocks of boxed lattes.
gooch_norris_@reddit
My mom had this exact picture on a mug
Neonlikebjork@reddit
Oh wow.
ProllyNotYou@reddit
Mary Englebreit is still going, and she's actually kinda badass!
Sheschle@reddit (OP)
I hope she has a revival! The more “quirky” and “artsy” moms were always the ones into her when I was a kid.
Remarkable-Power-386@reddit
My mom was so quirky and artsy she made us both iron-on ME sweatshirts 😄
yardini@reddit
She does cool left-wing stuff now, but in her classic style.
PlatypusFreckles@reddit
Omgaaaaaaaawd, my mom was OBSESSED
peggysue_82@reddit
My mom was obsessed with her!

I actually still have 80s tupperware kits!
AnimatronicCouch@reddit
I had a notepad with the chair of bowlies on it!

Christ all my mother's passing fads that she bought everything for, while gritting her teeth when the grocery bill was over $80.

This one got me.
