Hello, I’m currently negotiating with a private seller for a 2012 ford escape and I’m being offered a pretty great deal. I’ve negotiated with other private owners and they all want 2k or more for the same year and range of mileage. The only red flag is that the title says “not actual mileage - bonded title”. I paid for a vin check report and the title is not salvaged and it is not stolen. The owner has been pretty honest and transparent and says they changed their title to that because it was off by a few miles when they purchased it. That is actually what the report is showing me too. Historical miles was 148251 on February 2023 and then the current owner purchased it September 2023 and reported the mileage at 148027 and that’s what triggered the whole thing. Is there anything I should be worried about and could the title ever become a fully clean title again? Thank you.
