Replacing coolant?

I went to get an oil change on my car that I drive infrequently. The guy checked the oil and said it wasn’t necessary but did tell me I should get a coolant flush/replacement. Is this routine maintenance I should be doing? I am not sure if he was just trying to sell me something since my oil didn’t need replacing. My car is a 2018 Mazda cx5 with 60k miles.

If you never flush the coolant ever on your car until something breaks you’ll be fine honestly. Over the years ive only ever seen one car that had “bad coolant”. It was an older dodge charger and the coolant got clumpy and caused an issue with having heat. 99% cars you can get away with never changing it. Its a sealed system and its not like theres carbon getting introduced to it like oil

Thank you so much for your response. Glad I didn’t waste money. Follow up question — I live in Arizona where it averages 110-120. Would the heat affect the coolant or anything?

Well im from chicago and weak coolant is a factor in the winter but that would only be weak if someone added water or improperly mixed it. If there was an overheating issue i really doubt it would be from bad coolant. It would be something else like your fans are bad or water pump or even all the coolant leaked out
