You should instead use middle mouse click since that is a more universal mouse action to paste. It also works outside of just terminals. AFAIK you will have to use ctrl+shift+c to copy via mouse selection.

If you’re pasting with middle mouse button you don’t need to press anything to copy the selection. Selecting the text puts it into a clipboard.

isn't that a vulnerability of linux distros since i can have a password on clipboard and paste it anywhere when scrolling a page?
Ruashiba@reddit
Scrolling isn’t middle click.
WalkySK@reddit
yes it is, you can scroll with middle click and moving your mouse up or down. In firefox it's called autoscroll but it is not on by default on Linux.
Mixy1000@reddit
i also have autoscroll extension on chrome, and i press middle mouse button to auto scroll

I've not used this feature myself, but it looks like Alacritty can be configured to do this: https://alacritty.org/config-alacritty.html

Just highlight/middle-click.
Rightclick to copy and paste in WSL is Windows coping for lacking a primary clipboard.
