Manhunter. Great movie, great soundtrack.
everythingbeeps@reddit
Not the same but I saw The Crow once and didn't like it at all, but the soundtrack is legendary.
As far as movies I never saw, Last Action Hero is one. Had the soundtrack, l.oved it, never ended up seeing the movie.
Carnivorous_Mower@reddit
If you ever do watch Last Action Hero, remember it's a parody of action films. It's a bit of silly fun. Unfortunately, a lot of people didn't get it when it came out so it flopped.
everythingbeeps@reddit
Oh I know exactly what it is, that's kind of why I haven't watched it. I'm not really enough of an action movie watcher to appreciate it, probably.
lgramlich13@reddit
Agreed on "The Crow."
Hilsam_Adent@reddit
I loved the film. The soundtrack is one of the better albums ever released, period. Every track rocks your face off. Even the Cure song, Burn which is one of the better tracks. I don't care for them, but that song is certified killer.
everythingbeeps@reddit
I had for years resisted getting into the Cure, and Burn was what finally convinced me to give them a shot.
I loved the hell out of them for a handful of years, but it kind of went away and I haven't listened to them in probably two decades.
toodledootootootoo@reddit
I listened to it last night cause I had an out of the blue craving to hear that song. So fucking good
Tardisjanitor@reddit
My mind was blown when I learned the NIN track was a remake from an old 80s Joy Division song. Trent’s version rocks ass and I love it.
Carnivorous_Mower@reddit
Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight. Bad movie, great sounds.
gotfoo@reddit
Anthrax should have been on this soundtrack.
Carnivorous_Mower@reddit
We got Slayer instead, so no complaints from me.

Bring the Noise with Public Enemy was two years prior.

Soundtrack to Johnny Mnemonic was awesome

I still think of that metal-opera scene sometimes. :D

Pump Up the Volume, even with the different version of Everybody Knows.

Empire Records
Movie was kind of dumb, except to just stare at Liv Tyler.
Sad-Status-4220@reddit
For me, this is the ultimate Gen X soundtrack.
Skindigga@reddit
Del and Dinosaur Jr is dope as shit.
Laxevaag113@reddit
Grosse Point Blank
Five_Toes_Left@reddit
Soundtrack is awesome...almost like a best of the 80's compilation. The movie ain't bad either. I always considered it to be sort of an 'unofficial' sequel to Better Off Dead.
6rayRabbit@reddit
Until the End of the World, a film by Wim Wenters. Lou Rees, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Rem, etc etc.
IntoTheSunWeGo@reddit
Great soundtrack. The movie was good, I thought, but 3 hours was a little ridiculous even for me.
ConsumerAnthemist@reddit
Return of the Living Dead
Effective_Device_185@reddit
REPO MAN ('84) is killer.
zombuca@reddit
This is a better soundtrack than the movie deserved.
Tardisjanitor@reddit
Are we talking movies we didn’t see but loved the soundtrack or just epic soundtracks? Sorry I got lost in the comments. However, Hackers (absolutely not what hacking is like) has an epic soundtrack.
BoneDaddy1973@reddit
I had the Last Action Hero soundtrack, and never saw the movie. Great soundtrack!
marigolds6@reddit
New Jack City soundtrack was impressive, but I never knew anyone who saw the movie. Same thing with SubUrbia. Above the Rim is probably the best example i can think of not already mentioned.
dawg_will_hunt@reddit
Spawn soundtrack. Some bangers on that one
Respond-Leather@reddit
The soundtrack to the movie "Singles"
Never seen the movie to this day. Still own the CD soundtrack album and listen to songs from it on Spotify regularly
Muggi@reddit
lol same
Jewzilla_@reddit
The soundtrack came out three months before the movie. And it’s better than the movie. I believe that people went to see the movie because of the soundtrack. One of the first dates I went on was seeing the movie. I tried watching it again a few years ago. It hasn’t aged well.
Gluverty@reddit
Godzilla 2000, The Crow, Trainspotting (though that movie is brilliant), And the x-files

Spawn soundtrack

Repo Man
egdirbkram@reddit
Spawn soundtrack has a couple good pairings by unlikely metal/electronic groups.
Suspicious-Yogurt480@reddit
Soundtrack to the animated film Heavy Metal, I think many more kids at he time had the record/tape than seen the movie. A lesser known film, also animated, was 1981's American Pop, also an R-rated movie, but a decent soundtrack for the era.
yukonman27@reddit
The street fighter soundtrack was dope. Never saw the pic though
battery_pack_man@reddit
This was such a weird and odd concept of the soundtrack that tied into the plot.
Came out before korn paved the way for rap rock 2.0, which was just butt rock+ black cultural appropriation. But this was cool as it had each track collaborate with different bands across the divide to come together. I thought it was great and the de la track still slaps.
But I cannot think of this sort of thing being attempted at this scale anywhere else.
RKOouttanywhere@reddit
I got the opposite. The gone in 60 seconds Nic cage version. Movie music dope. Soundtrack Dafuq is this shit???
jvan666@reddit
SFW was an awesome soundtrack
FormerCollegeDJ@reddit
Singles obviously
Gibder16@reddit
Soundtrack for SLC Punk was really good, actually.

I still have the vinyl, but have bought MP3s of a lot of the songs.
domhnall21@reddit
I’ve still never seen Singles.
monjatrix@reddit
Good film but total banger soundtrack
HarlandKing@reddit
Point of No Return (Americanized LA Femme Nakita) soundtrack. Still listen to it.
Old_Goat_Ninja@reddit
Loved this movie. Never heard of it and it was on one night back in the 90’s sometime and I really liked it.
Anyways, has nothing to do with you’re asking, I just really liked this movie at the time. Haven’t seen it since.
