Who has come the closest to replicating the magic of the original Top Gear trio (Clarkson, Hammond, and May)?

I wouldn’t mind more Grand Tour episodes.

No one unfortunately.

The trio with Matt LaBlanc was a distant second place

They were so good. Wish they would have kept it going.

I know it’s not video and an off the beaten path opinion, but I think it is the cars and bids podcast team - Doug, Fillipo, and Kennan. Honestly they are really similar to the big 3 - Doug has loud, stupid opinions that he asserts are right just like Clark’s on (for example - electric cars are naturally aspirated), kennan is a purist about correct facts, cars being right like James, and fillipo isn’t quite Richard but is enthusiastic about regular everyday cars not crazy hypercars. I think they banter really well together, and if they could get a visual acting part down could be great

I could do with with two of my buddies. only problem is lack of resources

Im gonna throw in a vote for the roadkill/motor trend crew. Freiburger and Finnegan work super well together and Finn still brings Tony along for drag week shenanigans. Fun road trips along with a few ridiculous builds now and then like stubby bob.

throttle house

The British accent helps

Throttle House maybe? FortNine, SavageGeese also come to mind. None approach the OG trio though.

top Gear had a certain magic that included the three original hosts and a significant budget. That said, savage geese, Everyday Driver, Henry catchpole, and jason camisa are all reminiscent somewhat.

Old car throttle, jack, Ethan and Alex were the closest I think. The video style, the jokes, loved those videos from that trio

No one. I just think there was so much chemistry there that can’t be replicated. Clarkson was ballsy and curmudgeonly, Hammond was quirky and James May was poised. They really made a great trio and played off of each other well.
