What is the new “legendary”?
Posted by daylightxx@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 28 comments
I was over on the Taylor swift sub and someone said, “everytime I hear the word ‘legendary’, I think of How I Met Your Mother.”
So I replied, “I don’t. I think of English people. Everything is ‘legendary’ to them. Or everyone is a legend. At least, it was a few years back. They might’ve moved on to a new word to call something phenomenal.”
So I came to ask you guys. Please bestow upon me your best and latest British slang. And please specify if/how it’s region specific.
Please note that I adore you guys and your slang.

When I was last relevant, things were “skill”.
That’ll date me.

I feel we are of a similar age and location.
40s, and northern?
focalac@reddit
40s and I couldn’t have got much more southern without speaking French.

Everything is 'iconic' to the young un's I work with, not sure if that's the case all over but I suspect it is.
daylightxx@reddit (OP)
I’ve heard this one. And the subject is often, not, in fact, iconic.

Like when everything was "random".

Everyone is a leg-end
SnooSnooSnuSnu@reddit
As opposed to a bell?
Subbeh@reddit
"What's a bellend?"
"The head of a penis is bell shaped, so basically dick tip"
"Ewww, a bell?"
Actual conversation many of us probably had with a girl in school, tbh if you weren't the owner of a penis it's probably hard to imagine.
SnooSnooSnuSnu@reddit
Fun bit: Over in the US there's the slang "dickhead."
daylightxx@reddit (OP)
Oh my god, that’s how ‘bellend’ originated??
SnooSnooSnuSnu@reddit
Sorry to spoil that 😄

If something is great people just say “it slaps” or is “peng” I wouldn’t use this because I’m nearly 40, but it’s seemingly everywhere.
