Any other Xennials use Reddit exclusively for social content?
Posted by waywardviking208@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 323 comments
I like reading posts and comments about subjects that interest me.
I don’t like any social media apps not sure if Reddit is classified as one but as time goes on my distaste for traditional social media is greater.
Had Fb years ago found it unhealthy and deleted.
I like news and sports sites but for everything else I come here.
Just curious if any others my age agree.
CaptainsYacht@reddit
I miss IRC... :(
planenut767@reddit
I'm of the, probably unpopular, opinion they all suck, even Reddit. Some subs are great and I like what they provide. but most of them just make my eyes burn when I read some of the comments. Not on Facebook or Instagram and don't plan to, on LinkedIn and X but I'm very lukewarm on both, Discord seems a bit disorganized but deal with it because certain groups I belong use it as a primary means of communications. You Tube love to hand out strikes at the drop of the hat to content creators, but unfortunately "that's where all the content is". I see positives and negatives in all of them.
Salt_Sir2599@reddit
I keep FB for marketplace, but I’m Reddit nowadays. Had IG but it’s all look at me’s
Allaplgy@reddit
Got off Facebook 12 years ago. It was already getting to creepy with it's algorithms and such and just generally unhealthy. Still use Insta sometimes simply as a place to kind of store and share photos and communicate with a few friends, but stay away from any sort of politics or "influencers."
perfectlyniceperson@reddit
I keep FB for marketplace and because it’s the only place my birding group posts stuff
Salt_Sir2599@reddit
Same. I have a few groups to follow also.
DrenAss@reddit
I just sold something on Facebook Marketplace yesterday but other than that, it's garbage. There are a few groups I like so I keep it, but I never scroll. The scrolling is pointless. One day I counted TEN ads and "suggested" sources to follow for every ONE post by someone I knew. It's unusable.
Henchforhire@reddit
Same here but as of late Marketplace sellers are flaky as fuck.
guitarghosts@reddit
Can't get rid of FB because of marketplace. Once in a while I accidentally scroll my feed for about 5 seconds before my brain says everything here is fake. It's like collective insanity with a like button.
Spats_McGee@reddit
Only have IG because certain businesses make that their only mode of communication with the outside world.
No-Independence548@reddit
Yes. I deleted Facebook and Twitter, never had Tik Tok. I use Instagram maybe twice a year.
statistacktic@reddit
Only active in Reddit and Bluesky.
I still technically have instagram, but only post on it 2-3 times a year, gave up on IG msgs (prefer group text), and never look at my feed because I abhor short and over edited videos (they give me anxiety). Basically I’ve become a curmudgeon.
UpOrDownItsUpToYou@reddit
It's the only one I use
Born-Wasabi-6550@reddit
It's wierd. I used MySpace first, then Facebook, then Instagram, then TikTok. I just recently started using Reddit and love it. I'm finding myself more and more using it more than the others.
Every_Instruction775@reddit
At this point absolutely yes
silverfang789@reddit
Reddit to me functions more like a message board than social media. It seems to be more about communities of a shared inerest than individuals showing off their latest selfie or food shots.
Solid-Hedgehog9623@reddit
I like Reddit better than the rest because I literally know no one. It’s ok when strangers make asses of themselves, but it feels bad when you see people you care about do it. I also have learned a lot here. Useless knowledge, mostly, but interesting just the same.
OverGas3958@reddit
I just told someone this today. It’s no strings attached drama and information. (gen - x)
fitzmoon@reddit
Gen X here too, I love the random information. I learned here and the comments that people chime in are fucking hilarious, obviously. And it’s so interesting to hear peoples take on different things. You are so right, it’s no strings because you don’t know anyone but it’s pretty satisfying to see all of these anonymous people come together and agree to be nice to each other and rational.
OverGas3958@reddit
You had me until the “agree to be nice to each other.” Lol I love me some Reddit and a lot is so much fun but there is definitely an incredibly toxic side to it as well. Which again, who cares because we’ve got no skin in the game.
Easy_Independent_313@reddit
I try to get all my "information type" people on Reddit. It saddens me that I need to explain there are two reddits, the gross "look at my wife's snatch Reddit" and the "when did eels start being included in the human diet Reddit."
Solid-Hedgehog9623@reddit
It is pretty broad, isn’t it? But that’s ok. Something for everyone. Like going to the mall in the good old days lol.
Kennedygoose@reddit
Exactly why I stopped using Facebook for contact. I got so angry watching people I grew up with get dumber and more racist every day. I couldn’t take it.
TheLastBlakist@reddit
Watching my family go full Facebook just...
'You raised me to be better than this.... Why?'
vegemitebikkie@reddit
I’m currently on no speaking terms with my older sister after I unfriended her on fb. I told her I’d be her friend in real life but that wasn’t good enough. It’s been weeks of blissful silence so far
Vegaprime@reddit
It was the editing of George Washington to be driving the Grey challenger in Charlottesville for me.
TheLastBlakist@reddit
I'd been zero facebook since middle of Obama's first term... when I first saw how most of my family were behaving.
'I can't do this....'
Whatchab@reddit
Exactly when I left FB and for the exact same reasons too. Never had IG or any other platform (well, MySpace, which was the best!) so I only use Reddit to look into topics I like. Feels like a last hold-over of the old online world (but it is slipping fast with AI and sell out).
Kahnza@reddit
It was all the stupid quizzes and fake sympathy posts that made me quit. Haven't used Facebook in 6 years.
Ratatoski@reddit
Yeah the signal to noise ratio is abysmal. I mean yes I'm missing out on a few big life events of friends and family that they only post to FB, but I can't be bothered to deal with the amount of pure shit that's on there. Most of my feed is just pages I never heard of posting AI shit or stories from Reddit anyway
CautionarySnail@reddit
Same. There’s something particularly horrible about seeing folks you care about being pulled into that unreasoning hate vortex.
No matter how many life preservers of sanity you throw their way, they tell you that the hate vortex is the way things should be, and dodge them.
One in a whole I managed to pull someone free, but the next time they saw Fox News, they’d hurl themselves back in. With twice the vigor. It makes me deeply sad to see their willingness to discard any pretense of logic. “Illegals are coming to be unemployed on welfare while simultaneously stealing our jobs!” 🙄
TPlain940@reddit
The racism is what did it for me. I got so tired of deleting people one by one that I decided to delete my entire account instead. I refuse to be the black friend or acquaintance of a casually racist dumbass.
Big_Monday4523@reddit
Basically the same reason I stopped using Facebook. I'm originally from Canada and as a first nations person it was disheartening to see relatives and friends racism against people like me expressed so unapologetically.
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
I quit FB because I got tired of fighting with small minded people. I tried to ignore them but in the end it was easier to say goodbye.
Zestyclose-Ad-5305@reddit
Reddit is just moderated Craigslist and I’m here for it. Old millennial and I couldn’t care less about any Meta platform, snap, X, etc.
YVRkeeper@reddit
How many friends did we have to dump on Facebook during the pandemic due to their “research”…?
I scrapped the whole app.
mhoke63@reddit
Same. Same. Plus, during the times when you are in a bad or weird mood, you'll sometimes write things that are wrong or bad following a downvote to hell.
Nobody knows me. Who the fuck cares? I don't have to think back on it and feel ashamed because nobody I know said it. They don't know me. I like it.
DG04511@reddit
I quit FB and IG in 2020 for this very reason. Gave up on Twitter after Elon bought it. It’s just Reddit now.
Antique-Ad-4422@reddit
Twitter is still good for finding out what the celebrities are up to.
neanderthalman@reddit
And Reddit is much more diverse and interesting than real life friends and family. And far funnier.
CautionarySnail@reddit
This! And I’ve learned positive things here, and it’s curate-able, far more than Facebook.
ReferredByJorge@reddit
I preferred the specialized forums that were attached to niche interest websites back in the early 2000s. Reddit does the closest to that of the "social media" sites. I don't want to read updated on the tedium of life from people I went to high school with. Sorry, friends, family, work associates, and classmates, you're just not as smart or snarky as random upvoted strangers in the subreddits I'm subscribed to for my hobbies.
Tralfamadorian82@reddit
Yes! I like being interactive with other people but it’s easier when the focus is only on the topic and not the person/relationship/background. And if I’m not sure about something, I can state it here and someone will quickly tell me if I’m wrong.
Trilly2000@reddit
I’m probably in Reddit the most, but Threads is pretty cool lately.
Witty-Bug8222@reddit
Yep
FriendlyDish1106@reddit
I still use all social media sites.
ladyzowy@reddit
Yup starting to
LordLaz1985@reddit
This and Tumblr, which isn’t quite social media? I do avoid a LOT of subreddits though because the misogyny is intense and I have no desire to hang out with dudes like that.
Esternaefil@reddit
I exclusively use reddit for social, though I also use discord but that's more direct messaging (I liken it to irc rather than message boards).
DustedGorilla82@reddit
I’ve been using it a ton more over the past year, but I still scroll facebook and insta daily
gilly8878@reddit
46 here. Reddit is my only connection to social media. And judging by all the shit I see on here from the other media sites, I'm not missing anything. I don't post I just stalk and add snarky comments and rarely interact with anyone. Love it.
irishlore@reddit
I use it because everyone isn't a piece of human waste. My wife uses it now only as well. No Facebook etc
Exotic_Page4196@reddit
100%. I don’t know anyone here and no one knows me, keeps me from contacting old flames and people I shouldn’t but I still get the fix I would get with traditional socials. I love it
robin_888@reddit
I abandoned Facebook when almost everything my ~~friends~~ contacts posted were shared images of aphorisms.
I have an Instagram account, because I thought it was a photo platform, but it wasn't. I tried following celebrities I liked, but it was boring. I tried to share photos, but hated that I was bound to the abhorred aspect ratio. I also despise it for pushing vertical videos.
I have an old Twitter account, but never got into it.
I also rarely participate in online forums, because to me they always felt clunky with their board structure.
I did use newsgroups on Usenet a lot for 20 years. I liked it because it had no HTML overhead, it had a tree-like response structure and I didn't need a new account for every other topic I had a question about.
Reddit was kind of a replacement for that to me. A multi-forum with tree-like structure.
stryst@reddit
I have a facebook page I check once a month in case my sister or brother message me. Ive never had any other socials other than reddit.
NoNameTony@reddit
Yep- the day my state went on lockdown the first time during Covid was my last day on every social media except Reddit. Maybe popped on Instagram once or twice to reach out to an old friend, but otherwise... ain't nobody got time for that.
Instabanous@reddit
Reddit for other peoples drama and interesting nonsense, Facebook for family and some friends, X for feminism.
Purple-Protagonist@reddit
Yeah. I've never had a FB profile, and I dumped my barely used Xitter for obvious reasons.
The only other social media I messed with was MySpace. I miss Tom.
Psychoholic519@reddit
I use reddit mostly now, sometimes IG, and I’ll check FB about twice a month. It’s all trash, but some are less infuriating than others
ayamummyme@reddit
I joined Reddit in the beginning because so many news and entertainment news sites were quoting Reddit as sources for their articles, not only did it feel like lazy journalism but also made me wonder if this is where all the news is coming from why don’t I just read Reddit.
The more I’m on Reddit the less I care about Facebook (and the most Facebook groups irritate the hell out of me) and Instagram. I don’t know if it’s just the subs I’m in because I’m sure there’s plenty of dummy’s/weirdos/creeps on Reddit but it feels like Facebook is for idiots Instagram is for show offs and regular reasonably intelligent people are all here on Reddit.
Kulban@reddit
I guess I do. Can't stand any of the other platforms and I'm not trying to get attention for myself.
Alarming-Wonder5015@reddit
I quit Facebook, on occasion I’ll go and reactivate it but the last thing I saw when I did that was my idiot relative saying the Star of David is the same thing as the pentagram and then he argued with everyone who tried to talk sense into him, and posted some more crazy conspiracy shit about devil magic and such. I’m not sure how he thinks he’s a good Christian when he’s cheating on his wife with at least three girls half his age. So i deactivated it and figure I’m set for a few more months before I take another peek.
archcity_misfit@reddit
I like Threads too
Longjumping_Tie_485@reddit
I deleted Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram 4 months ago and haven't been happier.
ThePrincessOfMonaco@reddit
There are more interesting people here.
Moteltulsa@reddit
Nowadays, before it used to be B3ta and eBaumsworld.
Chantilly_Rosette@reddit
I only have insta for business marketing. FB for business and family who live far away. Reddit and YouTube are the only ones I find fun and interesting. If it wasn’t for my small business I’d quit the rest.
ladyeclectic79@reddit
I use Reddit and TikTok almost exclusively. I stay the hell away from Twitter and use Facebook only when I want to keep up on what my niblings (nieces and nephews) are doing. Never could get into Instagram, pictures are boring and these always feel too curated.
Dracono@reddit
Reddit is hit or miss with me, really depends on the sub. Shutdown FB back in 2011, still use Mastodon and X.
To0n1@reddit
Kinda, I also scroll Insta or TikTok, else youtube
tenderHG@reddit
I'm a lot more social on here than other places. I keep a locked Twitter just for a handful of people, don't have IG, and abandoned my LinkedIn last year.
sator-2D-rotas@reddit
I had a MySpace and LiveJournal for a hot minute like 2 decades ago. This is the only remotely social media platform I use now.
I sometimes think about reconnecting with friends and family, then remember how little time I have. If you’re not in my daily life, there is a reason.
The only valid reason I’d ever consider Facebook is Marketplace and I just ask family to message a seller if I really really am interested in something.
Arugola@reddit
Yep! This is a great community. IG, FB, X, have too much negativity and advertising.
Easy_Independent_313@reddit
I use Facebook for my family and Instagram for my business as well. That's it. I spend the most time on Reddit because I'm a bossy asshole.
Future-Agent@reddit
Reddit and Threads for me
roosell1986@reddit
Yep.
PostTurtle84@reddit
I have to check Facebook once a week because my kid's school uses it to put out event and fund raising info. I hate it.
smooth_grooves@reddit
I just like to control what I look at instead of relying on algorithms that pigeonhole you into content it thinks you'll like most for maximum engagement (which also tends to favor what people are the most emotional about, politics...). I have a hundred subreddits in my list and can pick my own content. It's nice.
iknowiknowwhereiam@reddit
The fact I can turn off recommended posts is a major advantage to Reddit
b_pizz@reddit
I’m sorry… WHAT?! How does one turn off recommended posts?
iknowiknowwhereiam@reddit
Under account settings turn off home feed recommendations
DrenAss@reddit
Omg thank you! I never thought to look
b_pizz@reddit
You are my hero. Thank you!
iknowiknowwhereiam@reddit
You’re welcome! It has made my Reddit experience so much better
lycoloco@reddit
Use old.reddit.com or a 3rd party app with a moderator enabled account. Fuck Reddit and their apps.
BeardedBandit@reddit
no shit? Where is that setting at... I'm not seeing it
lycoloco@reddit
Use old.reddit.com or a 3rd party app with a moderator enabled account. Fuck Reddit and their apps.
iknowiknowwhereiam@reddit
Under account settings turn off home feed recommendations
BeardedBandit@reddit
excellent, that exactly where I didn't look
thank you for replying so quickly
Quandary37@reddit
No I don't use reddit exclusively but I dropped FB a long time ago, snap, Instagram, and all the others, just youtube, reddit, a little tictok and truth, started using X again recently, but I try and avoid echo chambers of closed minded people that just want to hear the same stuff they already think.
sysaphiswaits@reddit
Yep. Too old for TikTok, too young g for FB. So, I am addicted to this.
ProfEobardThawne@reddit
Yeah pretty much me.
jackfaire@reddit
I have facebook to stay in touch with some friends but it's always sucked as a social media platform.
autonimity@reddit
Yes but reddit used to be so much better before they redesigned whatever they redesigned.
I would encounter all sort of random awesome and informative stuff and subreddits. Now it’s all just based on what it decided i should see so it’s extremely repetitive unless i specifically go looking and i can’t really go looking because i don’t what i want to see that i haven’t seen yet and don’t know about
adingo8urbaby@reddit
Yes. Reddit, PBS, Associated Press.
Low_Opening_2195@reddit
42, never had MySpace, Facebook, insta, Snapchat orTikTok. Only started Reddit about couple years ago. I enjoy living in the moment, and really don’t care to see what other people are doing unless it pertains to my interests and hobbies
timmytapshoes42@reddit
At this point I am almost exclusively on Reddit. I have some community organizations I keep track on with Facebook and for family. Otherwise, I’m here.
Aggravating-Home-622@reddit
I just scroll for interesting things. I don't have tic tac so I use reddits
madmatt666@reddit
Yep. I deactivated Facebook and Instagram a few months ago, and I barely ever use Twitter (yes, fuck off Elon - it's still Twitter, not X).
phinity_@reddit
Yes agree.
umbrawolfx@reddit
I don't lean left enough for this to be my typical social media.
Fappy_as_a_Clam@reddit
i use reddit an 4chan.
i stopped using 4chan for a long time, but then i visited and realized its still fucking hilarious lol
robbeau11@reddit
Yup, this is my only social media. Used to have Facebook but it became toxic and I have no interest in TikTok, Instagram, and whatever else
DeeSt11@reddit
Yessss
Prossdog@reddit
Instagram annoys me but I do it because I’ve lived in 6 different states and gotten to know a lot of people and it gives me a way to keep up with a lot of them. I spend way more time on Reddit though.
Obvious-Beginning943@reddit
I love my Reddit people! I am more hopeful about the world because there are so many insightful, witty, and hilarious people. To be fair, I stay primarily on pages aligned with my own interests (cats, humor, etc), but it makes me smile.
HickFromFrenchLikk@reddit
100%. This is my only social media interaction
manifest_ecstasy@reddit
This is all I have except Snapchat, which I was forced to get to be in a group chat.
Henchforhire@reddit
Reddit mostly and Facebook for marketplace otherwise I would get rid of it.
Useful_Tomato_409@reddit
right here. Left facebook years ago, IG was next. Now I see people scrolling IG and it makes me ill. Reddit is hands down the only place that makes sense. It’s actually useful, has something for everyone, and far less restrictive. The up and downvote has value to it, and far less sense of hearts and “likes” etc. There is a “culture” to how you interact with people etc. I will likely leave this place too, because ultimately a computer attached to social media in your pocket at all times is inherently detrimental to us all.
LMurch13@reddit
I loved Twitter before Elon. Trying to use Threads, which is decent but needs more transplants. Reddit is #1 for me.
ConditionsCloudy@reddit
Yep.
cogogal@reddit
Yep, Reddit and Goodreads are my only two. I’m on Reddit partly because the local news in my town is so god-awful that I actually feel more informed through here.
I used to be very active on Twitter because I thought it was promoting my career (academic in science), but has turned into a cesspool. So happy I’ve unplugged
Feral_Expedition@reddit
Still have Facebook but rarely use it for more than the occasional meme.
ofTHEbattle@reddit
I rarely look at Facebook, used to use a lot up until about 6 years ago when I just stopped posting on it. I think I have an Instagram account(probably because of FB, aren't they owned by FB now?) and I've never messed with twitter, it always felt more complicated and I didn't feel like messing around with it.
Now I just scroll through Reddit when I'm bored and check out guns and games and stuff that I'm interested in.
hey_suburbia@reddit
Yup, I was one of the first 20,000 people to sign up on Reddit. It’s been my internet home for nearly 20 years. I’ll use Twitter for local/breaking news but I don’t commit or post
ebbnfloUnicorn@reddit
Yes, but I do have a twitter just for porn
drrj@reddit
This is how I know I’ve found my people.
It’s the closest experience to using old BBS systems like I loved in college.
Pinkkorn69@reddit
I have groups of friends on each social media platform. I use FB, TT, IG, Reddit, Snapchat, Marco Polo, Pinterest, and X. It's finding your home and being comfortable with it. I go through spurts on each site.
Hairy_Ad4969@reddit
Yep. Reddit is the only one I haven’t quit
Daddy_Milk@reddit
That, Geocities and AIM.
MrTooLFooL@reddit
The only one I have
Antique-Ad-4422@reddit
hand raises
MielikkisChosen@reddit
Yep
SmidgeMoose@reddit
Yup, I had tiktok but got rid of it after it went from funny videos to political shit evey video.
DebiMoonfae@reddit
I have other social media accounts but don’t really use them. fb is the only other one I used to use a lot but then it turned into picture storage mostly.
The_Fortunate_Fool@reddit
Now, yeah. Had Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok... ditched 'em all.
Does YouTube count? I have that too.
Low_Soil_6831@reddit
Yep. It’s topical and not based on friends/follows. Don’t underestimate how fundamentally different that makes the experience.
avid-shtf@reddit
I found Facebook too toxic. I’m not at all thinking or saying I’m above anyone but I enjoy surrounding myself with people either at my level or preferably above my level.
I’ve tried going back on Facebook but it never works out. Especially with our divided political culture. People I went to school with that were friends for years have become divided.
Honesty there’s so much I’ve learned on Reddit and found solutions to my little projects that I’ve been working on.
khatpewp@reddit
Yep. I hate everything else. And why I like reddit is anonymity.
WENUS_envy@reddit
Dude I saw somebody mentioned -no selfies- in the post appreciating this sub, and I felt horrified for them that they are seeing unwanted selfies elsewhere on reddit. I'm here specifically because I love curating exactly what's in my feed without being affected by what other people like or want to share unsolicited with the world.
flojo2012@reddit
I use Reddit. I tried threads. Used to have a Twitter. I have an Instagram I haven’t seen in a decade. I do have a Facebook to keep up with clubs and family. I hate it though such a weird place
Dannimaru@reddit
I basically use FaceSpace to see pictures of what my nieces and nephews are doing. Other than that, yes.
InsaneLuchad0r@reddit
Yeah, mostly because I don’t find people’s post genuine on those platforms. I’d rather just scroll here.
One_Froyo_3411@reddit
Reddit is harmful garbage but then again I'm not a xennial
EhDamn@reddit
I classify reddit as "anti-social" media. It's perfect for me.
CowboyNinjaD@reddit
It's basically a message board with voting. They added a bunch of bullshit social media type features a few years ago, but you can ignore most of that by using old Reddit or adjusting your settings on the app.
yucko-ono@reddit
Sounds a lot like George ~~Michael’s~~ Maharis’ Fakeblock
Sttocs@reddit
TheGreatWorker93@reddit
Facebook is only for market place and boomers. IG is too much vanity, twitter is a shit show since captain butt plug bought it… nope I like Reddit - everyone is friendlier and more welcoming and it reminds me of IRC chat rooms when everyone found it a novelty to actually chat about stuff without the negativity.
I’m showing my bias now but I feel our generation pretty much had the sweet spot in growing up with technology and social media to make the best informed decisions… that’s my opinion fwiw!
lilacsmakemesneeze@reddit
I only use Facebook for my buy nothing group and photo-dump pics for family.
AZphan@reddit
Hard Agree!
Hookie-kid@reddit
Yep. 100%. Still have facebook but rarely check in, maybe 4 times a year. Keep meaning to delete my account. Never did Twitter, Insta, any of the rest. Just seemed inane
costaccounting@reddit
I use it exclusively for news content too
Yougotthewronglad@reddit
Yep.
I deleted any and all socials years ago, I enjoy the anonymity of Reddit but especially not having annoying family members try to shove their opinions/vacation pics/divorce drama down my throat.
cstrand31@reddit
Yup. Closed FB around 2017 when I didn’t want to casually scroll across a friend or family member expressing a stupid political opinion or racist sentiment. Ignorance is bliss.
HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea@reddit
Yep. Facebook is toxic af and full of boomers. Instagram is just people being fake. Snapchat is stupid. Twitter is a cesspool. Tumblr is a deeper cesspool. Reddit is as close as I get to social media.
Bobo_Baggins_jatj@reddit
I used to do all the other sites but got rid of them all. I just stick with Reddit and TikTok.
tift321@reddit
I mainly use FB for specific groups. A school group, neighborhood group etc etc. I hardly ever look at my regular feed. My IG is 99% ads, plus phone is always on mute so stories are wasted on me. Reddit is my random rabbit hole app.
burritostrikesback@reddit
I have been without FB, IG, Twitter and other social media for nearly 4 years.
No-Secretary6037@reddit
It's the only sociaI have!!!
jjj666jjj666jjj@reddit
Bahahah yep exactly me
Combatical@reddit
Yep. It gets me through the work day.
Le_Sadie@reddit
I use it mostly because I hyperfixate on weird shit no one I know can relate to but there are all kinds of folks here who get it :)
waywardviking208@reddit (OP)
I find it useful for literally everything from how to fix something questions, game advice, nostalgia, news and people in the news, music. Pretty much everything.
Le_Sadie@reddit
Well yeah everyone knows the secret to getting answers is to google your question and then add "'Reddit" lol
seche314@reddit
I heard Reddit is going to block that functionality
BeardedBandit@reddit
Try it in any web search that isn't Google (duck duck go, bing, yahoo, whatever else I can't think of)... then do the same search in Google
Then note that Google paid $60 Million to reddit, so Google can use reddit content to train Google's AI
carlos_damgerous@reddit
Whenever I search something Reddit’s usually in like the top 3 results anyway
Dutch_Canuck@reddit
Reddit is making it a Google exclusive feature. Which I disagree with, but whatever.
kylethemurphy@reddit
It's the only social media platform that I often see linked sources and facts. Not that it's always right but there's at least way more than something like TikTok. I like the content there but it's just pages of nearly identical comments. Gen Z and alpha just repeating the exact same joke over and over. Also crazy amount of bots.
HippoIcy7473@reddit
Pretty much, Facebook is a dumpster fire, Instagram is heading that way TikTok just looks like serious brain rot and I never really liked the Twitter UI and workflow.
JessRoyall@reddit
It’s the only 1
elmachow@reddit
Yes. Also, my misses thinks it’s high brow, which I find hilarious.
alwaysneversometimes@reddit
Yes, I never saw the appeal of twitter apart from confirming if anyone else in my city just experienced a minor earthquake.. stopped using Facebook years ago as it’s pointless. Refused to get Instagram as I am not into “influencers” or pictures of peoples meals. Reddit and LinkedIn as a necessary evil for career stuff.
trs1998@reddit
Yep, pretty much just Reddit.
I still have a FB and Twitter account, but hardly use either because of the stupidity and trash content on those platforms. Pretty much just if a have a specific need.
I tried Threads as a Twitter replacement, but didn’t care for all the influencer seepage. I had to sign up for IG to use Threads of course, and it took me 30 seconds to confirm IG is definitely not for me, either…it was like standing in a crowded boarding line in front of Hudson, beside TSA screening, beneath the tram, and next to a loudspeaker.
In summary, I’m old AF and like anti-social social media.
iknowiknowwhereiam@reddit
I used Facebook for a long time, but now it’s just reddit. I will never use Twitter as long as it’s owned by Musk
BigTarget78@reddit
I like Reddit the best and I'm here daily. I'm occasionally still on IG for pretty pictures and Tumblr because my daughter is there and for nostalgia reasons. Check Threads maybe once every week or two.
Suspicious_Size4030@reddit
Yeah primarily reddit and YouTube for guitar videos. I can't take more than that.
SpudGun312@reddit
Yep. Don't do Facebook or Instagram and I've got twitter on read only mode (I got banned for telling a tory mp he should've drowned with the rest of his rats) and I only use that to find out when my local non league footy team are playing.
0nSecondThought@reddit
Yes
burningsolo11@reddit
Haven't used anything else but this since covid, seeing friends and family fight, split up and argue...I'll pass.
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
I do Reddit and Instagram. Instagram is just for photos of the kids for the extended family to see. But my insta usage has tapered off greatly in the past two years.
makgeolliandsoju@reddit
Only Reddit. Well, LI bc work but I never login.
DimensionThin147@reddit
I used to be addicted to tiktok but joined reddit recently, and I get my news, advice, frustrations out and can be anonymous. Reddit is my number 1 social media app I use now.
AaronHinkley379@reddit
I have fb and insta and can't stand either. I hop on fb once or twice per month, insta a handful of times a year. I much prefer Reddit, but find myself drifting further away from all social media. I'm just so tired of all the politics and hate. It's a lot easier to bury your head in the sand.
beanbmore1727@reddit
Had all platforms for years. Gave all of them up besides Reddit at the beginning of the year. Nothing good was coming from them. All they became were ads and reels. Facebook used to be a place to catch up with people you knew now it's wasted on ads and groups you might like.
drawredraw@reddit
Yessir! Sorry, but I know your kid plays baseball and duh it’s their first day of school (that’s usually how it works). Say what you want about Reddit but at least it’s not just regurgitating the same old predictable lives of suburban moms.
Elegant-Ad-1162@reddit
reddit and instagram but reddit mostly
enstillhet@reddit
I use Reddit and Instagram, and that's all. I like them both for different reasons.
donutseason@reddit
Not my only but would probably the the most annoying to live without
EG440@reddit
I do but only because reddit is more like the forums of old than social media. Also I have no online "friends" and don't want any.
ReishiCheese@reddit
Yup
Bake_At_986@reddit
Elder Xenial (December 76’), deleted FB from my phone a couple months ago and don’t plan to log back in ever again. Definitely like this better. Semi-autonomy just like the old forum days offers comforts of a simpler time. Who the fuck was I posting shit for? Why do I give a shit to show people I know to various levels and roles what I concoct for them to see. I mostly just shared links for songs I liked and sometimes commented on others posts, but in the end, it’s just nonsense. Much happier without seeing people I used to like and respect go off the rails into identity politics.
boston_homo@reddit
It's the only social media I've ever used regularly and I was told about it irl. Now I'm addicted. It's only useful for web search + reddit at this point. I just need to quit I suspect I'm interacting with bots most of the time.
derekschroer@reddit
I use it more to be entertained, for Social stuff I'm on Discord.
meggsovereasy@reddit
Reddit reminds me of the old days of AOL message boards when there was complete anonymity.
Searchlights@reddit
Reddit is the closest thing we have to forums
weezmatical@reddit
Yup, don't use Facebook anymore, tho I used to. Never spent more than 5 minutes on the others.
Reddit doesn't deserve the hate it gets. People act like it's all basement dwelling such and such. Sure, that's here, but overall it's pretty progressive. Subreddits have their own particular flavor of hivemind, and you can choose where you wanna end up.
jbmyre@reddit
💯 reddit because it's just like the forums of our prime! It's not about ego because your profile is anonymous. You can freely comment on crazy shit without your aunt Karens prying eyes or some HR person seeing.
therightpedal@reddit
Yup. Reddit is the only thing I've ever had (only 2 years now) since around 2000 when MySpace was still around. Remember MySpace?!? I just skipped everything.
MundaneMeringue71@reddit
I’m still on twitter. Elmo has run it into the ground with his changes that no one asked for or wanted, especially monetization. But I have some good mutuals who I enjoy reading and interacting with.
Victoria_Strangelove@reddit
For the most part yes. I do have a Tumblr account but I made it just for stuff relating to my writing. I have yet to use it because apparently my being bad at keeping up with social media carried over to that too.
I feel like I lifted a lot of stress from my life when I stopped logging into Facebook or Instagram. Twitter was never a thing for me. I do have an account but it's only so I can see posts my friends sometimes link me to over text.
What I really miss though is Livejournal. I feel like Reddit sort of fills that void but I miss the combination of a blogging platform and community platform, and the ability to add friends to follow and allow to read your blogging content if you make it friends only.
Exciting_Agent3901@reddit
I use twitter mostly to get news. Although, it’s gotten pretty shitty since Elon took it over. Never had or used Facebook or IG.
Author_Dent@reddit
95% Reddit. Can’t stand the others. But my wife has a business and depends a lot on socials, so I go on from time to time to give a like or a share. I’d say I post something on IG maybe 2-3 times per year.
draculawater@reddit
I used to use a variety of social media but got sick of it about 12 years ago. Ditched most of it, kept Instagram because I’m an artist and homie needs to continue drumming up business. Even that has become nearly useless thanks to AI and algorithms though. Reddit is my favorite for subs like this one and niche interests.
EvenIf-SheFalls@reddit
Me!
mac117@reddit
I have recently deleted Facebook and Instagram and it’s been the best. Reddit is my source for social media and news updates
ptatersptate@reddit
Reddit for social. Twitter and Facebook for work/customer contacts only.
xt0rt@reddit
Yep. I dip into Twitter every now and again and am almost always disgusted by the comments. I haven't doomscrolled on Twitter in over two years. Reddit is fine though.
vexatious83@reddit
I watched my whole family get sucked into the social media craze, including my 65 year old mother. I got rid of all social media except reddit because of how utterly toxic it is with the demand for popularity. I can't see the need to post and update every 3 seconds about my life and have no desire to see that from anyone else... with that crap would go the way of the dodo
dericsh@reddit
I’ve been working on making the switch. Enjoying Reddit much more.
Mirewen15@reddit
Facebook is so my mom can send me pics because that how she does it. I don't have a Twitter (fuck X, no one calls it X) or Instagram.
So yes, this is my only 'social media'.
elkniodaphs@reddit
I have an instagram account which I only use to talk to my sister-in-law. I heard her telling my partner last week that she doesn't understand the appeal or why I'm on there and that it "must be a generational thing." Girl, I'm only on here because of you. She posts on it regularly, I haven't posted in two years. She's... a little confused.
wastedpotential31886@reddit
Other than My fake Facebook that follows 1 local brewery and 1 dj, it's all reddit for me.
Intelligent_Pen_324@reddit
Same😎:)
WinFam@reddit
I've never used anything else.
Well, er...unless you count G+.
Here reminds me of IRC.
cerealfamine1@reddit
2 main apps I use are Reddit and YouTube. Occasionally use Instagram because my wife does photography. Facebook I still have it, rarely used, just for profile stalking but haven't posted in a long time. I deleted my Twitter account around when it switched to X and was getting bot farmed like crazy and the missinformation / stupidity was lowering my IQ.
Magnifique21@reddit
I’m juuuuuust past the xennial cut off but have found my people in this group. I only have this app. Instagram was distracting and sucking away years off my life. Facebook was overwhelming when old classmates, colleagues and my parents joined. Never liked twitter or Snapchat. This, this works for me. Just Frasier, a few groups about random facts and fun.
Much_Ad470@reddit
Reddit has been great for me. I’ve found awesome communities to engage that I can finally fit into. A lot of the people I had on FB/IG are people I’ve known a long time but sometimes I like to spread myself out some
CMarlowe@reddit
While I think "they" are trying to make Reddit into a social media app, I don't think we're there yet. This is more akin to the old school BBS/forum than Facebook/Insta/Twitter, etc. A requirement of social media, I think, is that you're offered the opporotunity, and likely expected, to disclose your identity--names, photos, possibly where you live, etc. That's not the case here.
And Reddit is great for some things. It's great for talking about old shit, looking for a new movie to watch or book to read. And it's not as good for other things. You didn't ask, but I'll tell you anyway. Don't come here looking for relationship advice. Ever.
orielbean@reddit
The main thrust of change is how the algo will push postings and subs that you are not a part of into your feed of things you actually Join or follow directly. While the other apps just let you adjust who you follow vs pick actual subreddits so their algo does all the theme feeding for you.
Right now you can set Reddit to only show your subs without the unwanted junk popping up. If you don’t set any specific subs to join, it acts like the other apps do and just shoves content in front of you.
The danger is that the algo is as compromised like the others and can be gamed by the bad actors out there who use viral content to pull you into their weird creepy content - like the relationship adjacent ones. Or worse like antivax/right wingers/manosphere crap.
Phoniceau@reddit
Yea, I’m new-ish to Reddit, but it’s totally reminiscent of old forums, much more specific and relevant.
Matshelge@reddit
Yeah, I only see x when it's linked on reddit, I only have Facebook for messages, and even that is dying out. I think last time I tried to log into Facebook my password was too old and I had to do a whole bunch to get back in, and not returned since.
BamaSweetie1978@reddit
bitwarrior80@reddit
I started on FB and tried Instagram, but I lost interest when I got a new phone with a crappy camera. I created a Twitter account when it was new, but I never used it. So yeah, I suppose reddit is my main form of social media now.
Sisterinked@reddit
I still use insta. The only people I have on Facebook is family.
Brave-Panic7934@reddit
I essentially went from MySpace to Reddit and skipped everything in between (which meant a good ten yr gap in social media altogether). I remember it was around 2007-8 and MySpace was dying and Facebook was completely taking over, but I just couldn’t handle the switch. MySpace felt like just a bunch of 20 and 30 somethings bs’ing, but Facebook…Jesus, your parents, grandparents and all your extended family were on there. I just couldn’t fathom being on the same platform. Twitter was too noisy, IG was too “look at me”. Only really started using reddit three years ago, it’s… just my speed.
TheLastBlakist@reddit
Because of Facebook's descent into conspiricy nuttery and twitter being run by elmo...
Reddit is the last actual social media thing I am part of. Though to be blunt I am part of several tilde/pubnix communities and those are more my speed on most times. Reddit is mostly 'grab the news and complain about it'
Abidarthegreat@reddit
I post and comment on Reddit exclusively. I use Facebook to post photos of my child for family that I have no desire to actually talk to.
Phoniceau@reddit
I shut down my FB a few years ago, IG I have but don’t post, mostly just follow businesses I like in my area to see what’s up, I signed up to X so I could read comments but don’t post or do anything there. So yea, basically Reddit is my only active “social” network, I appreciate the anonymity :)
Mr402TheSouthSioux@reddit
It's the only social media presence I have.
Redahned1214@reddit
I can be honest here about my mental health
Book_Nerd_1980@reddit
Me! My kids got me on it after I dumped TikTok, Facebook and Shitter. It feels like it was made for our latchkey voyeristic yet private generation
OneLifeThatsIt@reddit
It's the only social media I use.
freelight0@reddit
Agreed. Reddit is absolutely a social media site and in my opinion the only major one that gets it right. It's a good mix of modern algorithms and the old Internet where we had interest-based forums.
y0urPalMitch@reddit
Yup, went from My Space to FB to Tumblr to Insta and finally Reddit over a 20 year period give or take . As I’ve grown and my interest in aesthetics, vibes, and people changed my socials did too.
Deazul@reddit
Facebook is super dead yo
Intelligent_Pass2540@reddit
YES!!! 82 baby. I've been Facebook, Insta and Twitter free since 2014! Never had snap chat or tiktok.
Watch youtube and you can see tiktok there and use reddit daily.
Wouldn't and couldn't go back!
DHammer79@reddit
I do watch YouTube(if it counts in this case). I am on Facebook messenger to share wordle results with my family and to schedule some family camping trips. I don't have twitter, Instagram, discord or anything else. Reddit is by far my primary social media access. As others have said, I can control what I see more on Reddit than letting an algorithm do the selecting for me.
shrimpcreole@reddit
Reddit is the only place I make comments.
TrustAffectionate966@reddit
I've been kicked out of/banned from all the other ones. However, I still use The YouTube more than anything else.
Banned from several music and movie messageboards between 1999-2004
Banned from MySpace in 2006
Banned from Facebook in 2006
Banned from Anime News Network in 2012
Banned from Yelp* in 2014
Banned from The YouTube in 2020 for the first time
Banned from tw@tter in 2021
Banned from The YouTube in 2022 for the second time
I am now plumbing the depths of the Internet on reddit. 🧉🦄
cathycul-de-sac@reddit
Why are you getting banned all the time? I ask out of curiosity.
TrustAffectionate966@reddit
I didn't do anything. I appealed all of them and I either received no answer or they gave me a bullshit answer.
SlapHappyDude@reddit
I find that Facebook remains the most useful place to get information about local businesses unless they maintain an Instagram.
jaredrun@reddit
Since I left Twitter.
Spats_McGee@reddit
Yep.
I'm only on Instagram because (grits teeth) certain businesses seem to love to make that their only mode of communication... It's like, maybe they have a website, maybe they don't... Maybe it's updated maybe it isn't... but the freaking Instagram is where you have to go to find out anything.
And machine-readable text? Fuggedaboutit... we're just going to post a stylized graphic that has the information. Want to easily cut and paste? Screw you it's Instagram!
TacoDangerously@reddit
Yuuuuuup
AlwaysDaydreaming2@reddit
I use Facebook to talk with people I know.
I use Reddit to talk with people I don't know.
I use Instagram to follow celebrities.
I have Twitter, but I haven't used it in over 10 years.
I think I still have MySpace, but haven't used it in over 15 years.
cathycul-de-sac@reddit
I only use Reddit. I like to talk with people about the things I am interested in or issues that matter to me. It works good with my adhd (or bad, depending on how you look at it;) TikTok would be terrible for me and I wouldn’t put that on my phone anyway. I like that Reddit is more old school in terms of comments and conversations although I worry about how it will change going forward.
daddywookie@reddit
Reddit is my primary social site and I love it because it's anonymous and vaguely controllable. What I really miss is Google Plus which should have been the king of social media. The circles feature was great for creating groups that represented our real life complex relationships. Of course, Google screwed it up in royal fashion.
malYca@reddit
Just Reddit for me.
melodyomania@reddit
Born in 1980. Only use Reddit. Not on Instagram or Facebook or TikTok or Snapchat, nothing. I can read, learn and talk and everyone is nice here.
dshults77@reddit
It’s the sole survivor for me. The others became a chore or simply less fun over time
BlurL1fe@reddit
I use X to cause trouble.😌
MartyFreeze@reddit
reddit and tiktok are my vices.
well, AMONG my vices.
my many, many vices.
seamonkey420@reddit
yup. instagram just to post some random garden or tech pics
Efficient_Story2747@reddit
I only have Reddit. Everything else was too full of drama
Usagi_Shinobi@reddit
Yep. I get linked things on occasion that are from one of those, but I don't use any of them.
dallyan@reddit
I’m on IG but don’t post. I mostly follow friends, meme pages, and rugby accounts. 👀
Fun_Bar5327@reddit
This is the only social media I have left. Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc can drag you down. I have a good life and travel a bit, but I still get super jealous of people from my past who seem to be “doing better” than me even though the only evidence I have is vacation photos. Plus I didn’t want to keep seeing my aunts AOC/satan pics.
Aggravating_Yam2501@reddit
Yep.
Finally bit the bullet and got rid of all my other social media outlets back in July.
I use Reddit and UnTappd. I like the vague anonymity (although I'm not exactly shy about who I am when I comment) and how I can tailor the feeds to exactly what I like/don't like.
JeSuisKing@reddit
Reddit is too astroturfed to be relied on. I’d go as far to say that it’s a very badly managed social media site.
SpaceToot@reddit
Yes. Closest thing to all the message boards I suppose
RueTabegga@reddit
Reddit has so many answers and teaches me about new topics I didn’t even know I was interested in. I never got the feeling of learning anything from FB or Xitter. So I guess Reddit is my only social media because it is actually fun.
JayEllGii@reddit
I’m still on FB but I spend very little time there anymore. Mostly because there’s just so much less action than there used to be.
I’m an utter Instagram creature, largely because I’m an artist who posts there and I follow hundreds of other artists.
I’m still on Twitter but Musk has utterly wrecked it. It’s such a mess now. Plus the sexbots won’t leave me alone.
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Yup. Oh wait... content, not "contact". Uh, yeah I guess it's that too. 😅
I came (back) to reddit when I was too isolated during the pandemic. I'm still too isolated, but 🤷♂️
azazel-13@reddit
Yep. FB is a cesspool. Tiktok feels like an ego stroking, immature app. Instagram seems in the middle. Reddit has its issues but I'm happy here learning about specific topics and experiencing light communal interactions while retaining anonymity.
Least-Back-2666@reddit
Reddit is a bunch of cesspools.
So we.can pick which ones we want to play in.
karma_made_me_do_eet@reddit
I have FB and IG .. FB I rarely post anything and use it to keep in touch with friends and family.
IG mainly for reels, also rarely post.
No interest in anything else, Reddit is my preferred stop for most things.
spyderkitten@reddit
I only use Reddit. I’ve been off of Facebook for about a year and a half and my life is so much better for it. I had insta for like a month and deleted it years ago. I’m not going to ever get “the tik tok”. I don’t want my kids to see me on any of them really, but I love Reddit.
Hooligan-1@reddit
I left all other social media behind years ago and never looked back.
Coakis@reddit
Reddit is the only thing that I check on a daily basis, I'm forced to use Facebook because friends (much rather be using discord), and I only use twitter for updates; I don't think I've actually posted anything there.
Logical-Locksmith178@reddit
Only one for me. It's got all the groups I would like and I like that we all don't know each other. I feel like you can get more honest advice/ questions with strangers for some reason
polygonalopportunist@reddit
This is my Twitter replacement.
anomalocaris_texmex@reddit
Only Reddit. Well, Reddit and LinkedIn, but that's just to have a presence for headhunters to look me up.
I used to participate in some hockey forums, but now Reddit.
If I'm looking for friends, I tend to just go hang out with the physical variety and do shit.
But yeah, social media kinda sucks the hind banana, and not in a good way.
VincentMac1984@reddit
Facebook I still have but rarely post to anymore or follow.
It’s turned into a lot of political drama, I can’t stand people I care about on either side of politics posting stupid shit that’s not factual.
cenimsaj@reddit
I only use Reddit. I have an Instagram account, but I don't think I've ever really looked at it - I just use it to follow random companies if they're offering me extra loyalty account points to do it. I had a Facebook account for the same reason, but got locked out a few years ago for entering the wrong password too many times. I just gave up instead of trying to recover it. I look at TikTok or Twitter if someone links them, but otherwise no. (And I refuse to call it X, which sounds like a porn site.)
I like the anonymity here. Not just my personal life not being linked to the account... but also that I can browse, read, and even engage with people without feeling like I need to form a relationship. Like, drive-by socialization. And it has become my go-to for looking stuff up now that google is terrible. I wouldn't use it for serious research, but for sure if I want product reviews or a how-to or whatever random stupid question I have.
Raynet11@reddit
My FB account is frozen in time use it to stay in touch with relatives but has to unsubscribe a number of people because of crazy stuff they would post, I’m not interested in anyone’s politics or chronic virtue signaling. Reddit is great because it’s narrow I can focus on specific things I’m interested in since my time is valuable.
vhs1138@reddit
This is currently the only social media app I use.
chiefpassh2os@reddit
Reddit is the only social media I have. Only reason I don't delete my Facebook is to video chat with my brother and his family
Old-Cheesecake8818@reddit
I don’t use Instagram much anymore because it isn’t allowed to be used with a VPN and I haven’t figured out a way to get past that. Since the VPN is more important, they won’t get my attention after all.
I use Facebook only to see local city groups and Marketplace since Craigslist became a wasteland.
Reddit and Discord are what I use for this online social l stuff these days since it can be useful sometimes.
Klaus_Heisler87@reddit
I have Facebook strictly for family, but that's literally it. Reddit is for everything else
katieclooney@reddit
Reddit Fb Gram Twitter
All my go tos lol
luxtabula@reddit
I use Reddit, Instagram and TikTok the most. I only check up on Facebook when I get a random message or to follow up on relatives. Twitter is just to keep in the loop or search for a live ongoing event. I skipped over Snapchat.
Reddit is the most useful of my main stuff. But it has an issue with participation. Instagram is ok but it has weird engagement at times from its algorithm. TikTok was a no go at first, but it grew on me after a while. It has terrible news but good creative content.
TheSpottedBuffy@reddit
Meh; now that Reddit IPO’d, just give it time; it will become just like the others
SmellyFloralCouch@reddit
Taxes, death, enshitification...
Reagannite1981@reddit
I use Reddit for Xennials and Costco info.
I have a Facebook account but only use it for info in my neighborhood.
I have an X account I use daily for my main social media feed.
SmellyFloralCouch@reddit
"Costco info" Love me some Kirkland Signature
al_rey503@reddit
Reddit is the best dating app tbh. It’s all I use because it’s got great info on niche subjects.
SmellyFloralCouch@reddit
Facebook is a sad, empty wasteland these days. I only have IG to watch dumb videos that make me laugh. Reddit is where it's at to actually talk with people with common interests...
WhiskyStandard@reddit
I haven’t allowed Facebook or any Meta apps on mobile devices for at least 5 years. I don’t create any new accounts with them (never had IG or WhatsApp). Facebook has a real “broken windows and tumbleweeds” quality to it now even though that’s where most of the people I know are.
Twitter’s always felt like a loud room where I couldn’t actually engage with anyone. Never saw the value, despite trying a couple of times.
I like Mastodon and have had good conversations there, but it’s a bit slow.
Reddit’s pretty much the only “infinite scroll” place I allow myself to do to anymore.
Any-Jury3578@reddit
I like the anonymity of Reddit. I have an Instagram for my dogs because we inherited a dog and the family wanted to know how she was doing. Otherwise, all other social media is gone. I love it.
ThresholdSeven@reddit
I don't use reddit exclusively for social content, but reddit it the only social media I use other than twitch occasionally.
_R_A_@reddit
I have a Twitter account, but it was more for professional reasons and never found it useful.
I have a YouTube channel, again it's more for professional stuff and it's new so who knows if it'll take off.
I haven't posted on Instagram in probably a year, and that's because I used that primarily for my photography hobby and haven't had much time for that recently.
Everything else I avoid..I like Reddit because it's more like the message boards of years ago. I don't care who you are, I don't want you to care about who I am, I just want to talk about shit that's of shared interest.
Live_Barracuda1113@reddit
I do. I just can't handle the drama. Reddit is helpful for me
Rhianna83@reddit
I only have Reddit and LinkedIn.
HisDudeness316@reddit
Deleted my main Twitter account in December 23, then signed up with a low-key account for news on my tiny football club. Never tweet, just follow the club.
Have a FB account, never use it.
Rogue_AI_Construct@reddit
It’s the only social media I am active on. I have a Threads account, but social media has turned us (collectively, not individually) into terrible, gullible people for the most part.
RedSix2447@reddit
Got rid of all social media except Reddit so very a year ago. Haven’t looked back since then.
AccidentalGK@reddit
Nowadays yes. I rarely go on Facebook and quit Twitter outright because of the toxicity. Instagram doesn’t do it for me because I like actual dialogue, Threads is a bit disorganized to me, and Tik Tok is just Vine with content I don’t understand and don’t care to understand.
Dustteas@reddit
This is the only social I've had since My Space and I'm totally good with that.
Ok-Orchid-5646@reddit
I like it because there are people here that get me, and I get a laugh too! X
CritterEnthusiast@reddit
I have Instagram but it doesn't count as social media to me, I use it strictly for following comedians I like. I don't talk to anyone, I don't post anything, I just open it and scroll through hilarious bits, it's great lol. I have fb still but only to buy stuff on marketplace.
Reddit has helped me diagnose health problems that no doctor could figure out, taught me how to train my dog, saved me from going insane when my kid was a baby and I realized I had no fuckin clue how to take care of a baby lmao
DankRoughly@reddit
Only Reddit. I like that it's anonymous and not about the person but instead about topics.

ouijahead@reddit
I guess I do 🤔
LadyMirkwood@reddit
I only have reddit. I've had others for short periods but never stuck with any of them.
Twitter, Discord, and FB are just people arguing and creating drama, Instagram is just people putting up a weird, editorialised version of their lives, and Tumblr isn't as bad but has a definite culture that isn't for me.
NickLoner@reddit
I pretty much use Reddit exclusively. I scroll IG once in a while, but the comment sections for my interests are cesspools, so I rarely interact.

JerBear12345678910@reddit

pushdose@reddit
I have accounts at most of them but only really use Reddit. Insta just so I can follow businesses or activities/clubs I like to go to. FB is poison. X is cancer. Nextdoor sometimes to give shit away to the neighborhood. I did get a bunch of really good quality moving boxes on Nextdoor then gave them away promptly. This is nice to have but the boomers are absolutely insane on there.
Scrambled_Creature@reddit
I like reddit because I can tailor what I want to see and who I want to engage with. I enjoy IG because it's a simple "post a pic, like a pic" setup. I deleted Facebook years ago as it became a constant source of depressing/outraging information, and I deleted Twitter as it became a constant source of stupid information.
NoAnnual3259@reddit
I like looking at and sharing travel and hiking pictures on Instagram. Then they sync to Facebook, where the same twenty old family members and friends will like my photos.
Reddit is more like anti-social media for me, it’s for talking about obscure topics that bore my family and friends in real life.
Neat_Flounder_8907@reddit
Yep this is the only social media I engage in. Got rid of FB years ago, never had a Twitter or Instagram etc
Transplanted_Cactus@reddit
I use most social media platforms. They all have their uses for me. TikTok for funny stuff, home reno, gardening/indoor plants, and dog training. Facebook to easily keep up with people scattered around the country. IG for photography. Twitter for storm chasing. Reddit is for the random shit I learn and funny pictures/videos.
busa89@reddit
No. I still have Facebook and LinkedIn
Kinky-Bicycle-669@reddit
I only had FB otherwise and since I've been on Reddit more I barely use it so these days unless I actively look up the news myself, I have no idea wtf is going on in the world. It's actually kind of nice.

Same here. Deleted FB a few years back and solely use reddit now.

I also use Tumblr

I keep FB for messenger and marketplace. Reddit is my social media now. Twitter is dead to me.

Yep. I found social media made me slowly hate everyone I knew and it became a place where I was just irritated.
I would rather argue with strangers like a normal person.
FB had it's place though. 15 years ago when I moved to a major metro, I can't imagine my life there without it. But it was a very different place back then. Chronological timeline, not a news aggregator, etc.

I use reddit, instagram and TikTok, although very few of my circle use TikTok. I left twitter when Elon bought it. I’m on discord for a couple specific communities from Patreon. I have FB still but would only check it 1/month.
