What if the other country invaded because the elected leaders of a region asked after voting for independence and the countries military started attacking them in response?
fucking exactly, I don't know if people just want to believe in some grand conspiracy or something or they just always believe that everything they hear in the media is a lie. but this is basically as white and black as it gets, Russia has literally been doing this to Europe since the beginning of time. Putins justification is literally that Ukraine is rightfully Russia, the NATO excuse is just a half hearted cover.
You are misunderstanding that entire idea of the post. The people of Russia didn’t vote to go to war with Ukraine. By dehumanizing them you are no better than Putin.
That has to be AI. Dude on the right looks like a PS3 character, their proportions are uncanny, skin textures are way funky, lighting and angle are exactly the same, and they look like dude on the left evolved in to the dude on the right. I'm saying AI

Yeah it’s not the Russian people’s fault. Just like us Americans, most don’t care for war or have any interest in it. It is decided by idiots in office going after oil and big defense contracts.
there is a time and a place for war, when a hostile force invades your country you are allowed to war. I don't see how this is so hard to understand. there is very clearly a good and evil here.
Facts, tired of seeing Russian apologists pose as Libertarians. Even from a libertarian perspective, if someone invades your country, you should retaliate.
Anti-draft is like one of the main tenants of libertarianism, as it is akin to slavery, violates strongly freedom of movement, and is in opposition to freedom to make decisions on one's own life.
I think that’s fair. I agree that voluntary military service is indeed preferable. But saying a country should be conquered rather rather than conscript is totally infeasible in the real world. I certainly beleive conscription should never happen for offensive wars/interventions, but if there is a real threat to a country being invaded, it is a message evil, even to the individual, lest he find himself in a new Ukraine that does not see conscription as a message evil and as a duty to the motherland.
If my country was invaded, I would give jack shit and relocate to another. Because I have zero obligations to a state, I as a free individual should be free to make decisions on whether or not I'd like to die for a cause I might not believe in.
If I was hindered to relocate due to being enslaved by my country, that would be a gross violation of my natural rights, and it would be as anti-libertarian as it is possible to get. How anyone can defend this and claim to be a libertarian is beyond me.
I think most people would emigrate, myself included. However, it’s not always a realistic option. Being libertarian does not mean that all government everywhere must be eradicated, as that is an infeasible and unrealistic worldview. It means the government should be as small as possible in order to function effectively. I do agree that people should in a perfect world choose the cause they can die for, but I believe that this will not happen feasibly, and fighting for a country rather than being subjugated is your best option in that scenario.
However, we surely must have some state-like-institution institution, but I believe it should be 100% voluntary to fight for it.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if another country subjugated mine, it would probably be a good thing. I'm from the most dystopian authoritarian socialist shithole imaginable, so literally any other country would be preferable and provide me with more personal freedom.
So if the dystopian shithole I'm from the forces me, and that I hate, force me to fight for it, it would be wrong on so many levels.
Forced conscription is a gift to corrupt politicians, as their subjects would always be forced to fight for preserving their power, regardless of how shitty the country is.
So in effect, forced conscription removes the accountability of the rulers, as the people being ruled don't even need to like their country and be willing to preserve it, they have to.
I agree that drafting is bad, but is there much choice in Zelensky's situation? Besides, Russia has been doing it to a greater extend and for longer than Ukraine, even before the war.
”Lmao pot meet kettle. Who’s the tankie calling “both sides” on a literal war of aggression.”
I hate how Russia moved his border all the way up to NATO’s border. Why would they do that? /s
Just because you don’t understand the cause of Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine doesn’t mean that the U.S. and its NATO allies were righteous and innocent.
Instead of being narcissistic, get smart and objectively listen to both sides:
Buddy, it's not Nato that got attacked. Ukraine was offered Nato membership and rejected it.
Putin, consummate imperialist, believes his rightful border is as far west as he can make it; at the very least at Poland and Romania, or beyond if he can manage it. He's happy to use violence to get his way. Everything we criticise the US for, Russia is trying to be, but with greater state control, more corruption, and more explicit political violence.
Ukraine is a poor shithole riddled with corruption and historically tied to Russia, a slightly less poor but equally corrupt shithole. Russian influence and money has sat on the Ukrainian economy and politics for a century, and a lot of them are fed up with it. They have promoted political corruption to strip the country of its wealth.
This shouldn't be a difficult concept for a libertarian to understand.
Some of us are listening to Putin and his mates, and believe him when he talks about his desire to bring the empire back
”Buddy, it’s not Nato that got attacked. Ukraine was offered Nato membership and rejected it.”
Iran never attacked the U.S. either. That doesn’t mean that the U.S. is innocent and did not play a hand in leading to authoritarians coming to power.
The CIA overthrough the democratically elected prime minister of Iran (Mosadeq) and installed the pro-West Shah of Iran in the 1950’s.
When the Shah of Iran was overthrown, it was taken over by the anti-Western Islamic Republic.
The Islamic Republic funds terrorism in Lebanon, Iraq, Gaza, and Israel.
Does that mean they the U.S. and its foreign policy are innocent? No.
Cause and effect.
The current U.S. president’s (aka The Big Guy) son was paid millions of dollars in bribes by Burisma—a Ukrainian gas company—after the U.S. toppled not one but two of Ukraine’s democratically elected leaders.
Those democratically elected leaders were pro-Russian.
Russia invaded Ukraine (violation of the NAP) a few years ago.
Does that mean they the U.S. and its foreign policy are innocent? No.
Again, cause and effect.
”Putin, consummate imperialist,*
Putin imperialist, U.S. not imperialist?
More like: both Putin and the U.S. are imperialist.
Putin has never said
”*believes his rightful border is as far west as he can make it; at the very least at Poland and Romania, or beyond if he can manage it.”
You’re falling for all of then statist propaganda. Could Putin invade Poland and Romania?
Yes, maybe, or no. What advantage would Putin have by invading either of those two countries given the tremendous losses Russian has already suffered in Ukraine?
There were plenty of off-ramps that could have prevented this war, and ended it years ago.
Boris Johnson derailed the last attempt at negotiating a peace deal, and the war in Ukraine has continued ever since.
Endless war is not the answer. Thinking that Ukraine—a country that has banned elections and dissenting news media—requires defending at all costs, even if it means World War 3, is asinine.
If you want to fight it, then don’t be a keyboard warrior. Go there and fight it.
”He’s happy to use violence to get his way. Everything we criticise the US for, Russia is trying to be, but with greater state control, more corruption, and more explicit political violence.”
It’s none of the U.S.’ business. The U.S.’ foreign policy is part of the problem, as I already explained in my earlier post.
”Ukraine is a poor shithole riddled with corruption and historically tied to Russia, a slightly less poor but equally corrupt shithole. Russian influence and money has sat on the Ukrainian economy and politics for a century, and a lot of them are fed up with it. They have promoted political corruption to strip the country of its wealth.”
Not worth engaging in World War 3. It’s not the U.S. and the more the U.S. interferes, then worse off everyone becomes.
”This shouldn’t be a difficult concept for a libertarian to understand.”
What’s difficult for you to understand is the actual anti-war argument.
Did you read the article that I originally responded with?
You have to be intellectually curious to understand the libertarian answer.
”Some of us are listening to Putin and his mates, and believe him when he talks about his desire to bring the empire back.”
And your solution is to blindly follow to a sitting U.S. president with dementia that goes by the nickname “The Big Guy” when getting bribed by foreign nations?
Did you also listen to Putin when he said “Nyet means Nyet?”
A little bit of thinking outside of the propaganda wouldn’t hurt you.
I'm not American, and I'm not defending America. Your country has a long history of this shit too, and will no doubt continue to do so. But a stopped clock is right occasionally.
The libertarian answer is rooted in the principle of non-aggression. That doesn't mean non-violence at the expense of caving to tyrants like Putin. Trying to portray Russian aggression as somehow justified is misguided at best, imperialist apologia more likely.
Ukrainians have a lot of mistrust in their government, learned but that's led many of them to take matters into their own hands, while Russians pretend it's not happening, and if it is it's justified like a bunch of imperialist cucks. You could learn from their example.
Stop gobbling Putin's nob, he's a cunt that would rather burn Ukraine to the ground than see anyone else have access, so that he and his mates can continue to rob it. Simping for foreign politicians isn't libertarianism, any more than domestic ones.
I have no problem with arming people to do their own fighting. Again, that's an easy argument for a libertarian to understand.
On the facts:
The statist propagandists that told me his motivations live in Russia. When asked why he invaded by Tucker Carlson, his response was to waffle for an hour about centuries of Russian imperial history, virtually nothing on NATO, and he's equated himself with both the Soviet Union and Tsarist Russia at times.
2013 was sparked by a decision to further tie Ukrainian trade tariffs to Russia by joining a customs union under Russian control, rather than what most people wanted, which was a free trade deal with the EU. That decision was a murky backroom deal, just like the one you point to with Hunter Biden. It resulted in half of Yanukovich's own party voting him out.
Boris Johnson didn't derail negotiations, Russian state-owned media did when their response to the massacre in western Ukraine was to justify it and claim a lot more would be necessary. That particular piece of genocidal rhetoric was written by one of Viktor Yanukovich's advisors, by the way. Bojo's public support probably helped, but it was by no means the leading factor. They were already fighting tooth and nail.
World War 3 isn't going to happen over Ukraine.
And finally, warmongers target libertarians and pacifists in other countries for propaganda to get them to let it happen. There's a long history of it. Be a little more suspicious of people telling you Putin's just defending what's his. It's not true.
You can be anti war while still acknowledging that one party is at fault and that Russia could simply leave Ukraine and the bloodshed would end. Ukraine is exercising the right to armed self defense, what would you do if your neighbor broke into your house?
Russia broke into the house of a neighboring country—after the U.S. and its neighboring allies expanded NATO all the way to its border and after the U.S. toppled not one but two pro-Russia Ukrainian democracies.
It’s none of my business or yours.
If you want to fight it, go fight it with your own hands and tax dollars.
I’m not arguing for sending any money anywhere. I’m simply stating that Russia and Ukraine are not on equal moral footing - and that Russia is an instigator and are in the absolute wrong. That is something you refuse to do, and continue this “oh but both sides are equally bad” bs when clearly Russia could end their terrible war today.
”I’m simply stating that Russia and Ukraine are not on equal moral footing - and that Russia is an instigator and are in the absolute wrong. That is something you refuse to do,”
What a weird false equivalency.
You never asked me to answer the question about equal moral footing. Do not put words in my mouth.
Russia is bad.
Russia should not have been invaded.
Ukraine has the right to defend itself.
Everything the U.S. did before and after the invasion helped provoke is making it worse.
If you want to understand the history of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, what the U.S. did to make everything worse, and how multiple off-ramps to peace negotiations have been thwarted then nightly recommend reading Scott Horton’s excellent article on
You would come to the conclusion of the counter-argument being “oh but both sides are equally bad” only if you put zero effort into actually understanding the opposing argument.
If your neighbor is given a plot of land next to your house, or deciding to share home defense with your neighbor, do you start building on your other neighbors land at gun point? Russia is committing a clear NAP violation. If a property owner wants to enter in a mutual agreement, it’s not your business.
A long time ago when the U.S. disarmed Ukraine of nukes the U.S. promised to defend Ukraine. The U.S. doesn’t even have boots on the ground. This is a clear violation of that promise. Yet republicans/bots like you will continue to justify Russia violating NAP.
I support Ukrainian civilians and Russian civilians.
I despise all governments—including those that aggress through invasion (Russia), those that engage in corruption (Ukraine), and those that topple foreign governments through their intelligence agencies and fan the flame of war (U.S.).
People don’t realize how truly awful war can make a human look. Look back at old photos of WW1 soldiers that were in trenches, they are living in awful conditions for long periods of time. It’s no wonder they look like shit. That’s war. People are so dumb to draw the conclusion.
“The Russians look like orcs! Send another$80 billion to Ukraine now!!”
Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.
Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye?
Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?
Father Mulcahy: Um, sinners, I believe.
Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell, but war is chock full of them – little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
Hijacking to say that the guy on the left has 5 incisor teeth, while humans only get built with 4. Also, both of their shirts are rumpled, but the insignias are flat. Fuck Russian government, but I'm tired of this AI shit.
Not a dentist but emergency medicine, the teeth look enough like teeth that I don’t think it’s AI. Everyone’s dentition out there is slightly different and there are conditions like hyperdontia where you have more teeth than normal or a diastema where you have a pronounced gap. Either way the dude appears to have a significant underbite. Bottom line: think it’s a real human. The guy probably has been doing trench warfare for weeks to months so hygiene isn’t his number one priority. Ultimately, I think the dehumanizing people is super… well it’s hard to argue you’re the good guys when you’re doing that.
The FED or Federal Reserve is a private institution in charge of American money. They are arguably responsible for inflation and our money being fiat. If the FED were to no longer exist. We would be less likely to experience the rapid boom and bust economic voodoo that we have seen the last 30 years. Ending the fed and going back to the gold standard will allow real businesses to thrive and allow stock hype businesses and fraud companies to fail. This will lead to a healthier more real economy.
Those guys have no idea whats goin on, they were probably on one farm their entire lives with an annual trip to town, then the Govt picked them up and put them on the front
Man you get pretty defensive when someone insults Russian invaders.
Libertarianism is made up of people who believe in allowing others to live in peace as long as their lifestyle/actions don’t prevent others from living in peace. A person/country invading another country is the antithesis of that.
You’re in the comments screaming ‘libertarians hate war!!!!!’ Well then you should be mad at the country that started the war lol.
”Elsewhere in the comments, you blamed the invasion on NATO.”
Since you’re pretending have researched my other comments, did you also watch the full 1 hour+ video form Scott Horton of AntiWar.com that I posted multiple times?
Not a single Military-Industrial-Complex-sympathizer (aka statists like you) have responded to a single piece of evidence from the video or article that was shared.”
As I literally just said 2 comments above, the amazing Scott Horton explains who—in detail— started the war:
Gorbachev himself said the United States never made that promise lol. It takes two to tango, but somebody has to shoot first. In this case it was Russia. Blaming Ukraine for ‘provoking’ this situation is liking blaming a rape victim for wearing revealing clothing.
”Blaming Ukraine for ‘provoking’ this situation is liking blaming a rape victim for wearing revealing clothing.”
If you’re gonna keep commenting stuff like this you should at least reach out to Tenet Media and see if you can get on their/Putin’s payroll. Right now you’re spreading their message for free.
Nice false binary. I never blamed Ukraine for being invaded. Ukraine didn’t deserve to be invaded.
You came up with that because it’s easier to use false binaries than to out the time in and actually understand the opposing argument objectively.
Ukraine also doesn’t deserve tens of billions of taxpayer dollars from the U.S.
Neither Ukraine nor Russia are better off from the U.S.’s foreign policy errors and constant overthrowing of foreign govnements—including overthrowing two democratically elected, Ukraine governments that were pro-Russia.
“If you’re gonna keep commenting stuff like this you should at least reach out to Tenet Media and see if you can get on their/Putin’s payroll. Right now you’re spreading their message for free.”
Would you put Ron Paul, Scott Horton, Dave Smith, Clint Russell, RFK Jr, the Mises Caucus, Tucker Carlson, Doug Casey, and Tom Woods in that list too?
My antiwar opinions were largely shaped by books, interviews, debates, and conversations from these amazing libertarians, AnCaps, and one conservative.
You would know that if you opened your mind and actually objectively listened to any of them talk about their stance on then Ukraine war instead of discounting any dissenting thought as “RuSsiAn MisInfOrmAtiOn.”
Where did you learn your pro-CIA, pro-MIC, pro-war mongering views from? Maybe from the same people that gave $83 billion to the Taliban?
Russians really are the perfect imagined enemy for the globalist plutocracy; they could NEVER get away with calling any non-white soldiers such vile & dehumanizing slurs.
Don't pretend there's some kind of moral equivalency between a despotic country (Russia) unjustly invading a sovereign country (Ukraine) without provocation seeking to subjugate them. That is not libertarianism so GTFO with that shit.
These guys are likely conscripts who are from a deprived background and forced into frontline service. I imagine that it would wear on anyone. Just look at before/after photos from ww1 and you’ll get an idea.
So these two are likely disfigured from tape wrapped around their head and abuse (you can see lines were the tape was), which makes the comments about them looking like orcs even worse
POWs must be treated humanely in all circumstances. They are protected against any act of violence, as well as against intimidation, insults and public curiosity. IHL also defines the minimum acceptable conditions of detention, covering such issues as accommodation, food, clothing, hygiene and medical care.
Whether Ukraine is in direct violation of the Geneva Convention is debatable but we can be certain that most western media would probably remain silent on the question while simultaneously declining to publish these images themselves.
Listen to this podcast and you’ll realize that even though the Ukrainians are breaking the rules by doing this, it’s still a significant deviation from how things have generally worked on Eastern European battlefields.
“History is replete with examples of leaders, nations, and empires who left a trail of blood behind them. But with the Bolshevik takeover of Russia after the First World War, something new crawled from the depths of the earth onto the surface of the world. Never before had a government shown such uninhibited savagery toward its own people, during peacetime, as a matter of policy and in the name of scientific management. After Nazi Germany was defeated in the Second World War, Stalin’s Soviet Union unleashed hell on the devastated nations of Eastern Europe, leaving behind an unmatched record of sadism and brutality.”
NAFO people are warmonger pussies online. Almost none of them have ever served, and it's obvious. I don't know how anyone can cheer on the death of others. To make things worse, a lot of those Russians and Ukrainians are conscripts who don't want to be there. It kills me thinking about that while a soldier begs a drone not to drop a grenade on him as he sits there bleeding out.

Putin has never said
You’re falling for all of then statist propaganda.
It’s none of the U.S.’ business. The U.S.’ foreign policy is part of the problem, as I already explained in my earlier post.
Not worth engaging in World War 3. It’s not the U.S. and the more the U.S. interferes, then worse off everyone becomes.
What’s difficult for you to understand is the actual anti-war argument.
Did you read the article that I originally responded with?
The History Behind The Russia-Ukraine War” by Scott Horton on March 2, 2022
You have to be intellectually curious to understand the libertarian answer.
HJSkullmonkey@reddit
Schtekarn@reddit
Really out here defending Russia lmao
ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)
Being anti-war is not pro one side or the other. It’s pro both sides.
No more instigating wars, no more regime changes, no more endless wars, no more funding of then murderous military industrial complex.
Schtekarn@reddit
You can be anti war while still acknowledging that one party is at fault and that Russia could simply leave Ukraine and the bloodshed would end. Ukraine is exercising the right to armed self defense, what would you do if your neighbor broke into your house?
ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)
Russia didn’t break into my house.
Schtekarn@reddit
I’m not arguing for sending any money anywhere. I’m simply stating that Russia and Ukraine are not on equal moral footing - and that Russia is an instigator and are in the absolute wrong. That is something you refuse to do, and continue this “oh but both sides are equally bad” bs when clearly Russia could end their terrible war today.
ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)
What a weird false equivalency.
You never asked me to answer the question about equal moral footing. Do not put words in my mouth.
Russia is bad. Russia should not have been invaded.
Ukraine has the right to defend itself.
Everything the U.S. did before and after the invasion helped provoke is making it worse.
If you want to understand the history of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, what the U.S. did to make everything worse, and how multiple off-ramps to peace negotiations have been thwarted then nightly recommend reading Scott Horton’s excellent article on
AntiWar.com’s “The History Behind The Russia-Ukraine War” written by Scott Horton.
You would come to the conclusion of the counter-argument being “oh but both sides are equally bad” only if you put zero effort into actually understanding the opposing argument.
NegativeSpeedForce@reddit
Just wanted to add. Fuck you!
PrisonerNoP01135809@reddit
If your neighbor is given a plot of land next to your house, or deciding to share home defense with your neighbor, do you start building on your other neighbors land at gun point? Russia is committing a clear NAP violation. If a property owner wants to enter in a mutual agreement, it’s not your business.
A long time ago when the U.S. disarmed Ukraine of nukes the U.S. promised to defend Ukraine. The U.S. doesn’t even have boots on the ground. This is a clear violation of that promise. Yet republicans/bots like you will continue to justify Russia violating NAP.

ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)
I support Ukrainian civilians and Russian civilians.
I despise all governments—including those that aggress through invasion (Russia), those that engage in corruption (Ukraine), and those that topple foreign governments through their intelligence agencies and fan the flame of war (U.S.).

Odd that you only seem to post about people who support Ukraine.

That is indeed a "defend Ukraine" insignia, so not their uniform, but I need a dentists opinion on those teeth
tanstaafl001@reddit

Is your flair a joke or do you unironically believe we should abolish the FED?
PrisonerNoP01135809@reddit
The FED or Federal Reserve is a private institution in charge of American money. They are arguably responsible for inflation and our money being fiat. If the FED were to no longer exist. We would be less likely to experience the rapid boom and bust economic voodoo that we have seen the last 30 years. Ending the fed and going back to the gold standard will allow real businesses to thrive and allow stock hype businesses and fraud companies to fail. This will lead to a healthier more real economy.

ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)
Don’t put words in mouth and pretend that I’m defending Russia’s aggression.

Macdingy@reddit
Gorbachev himself said the United States never made that promise lol. It takes two to tango, but somebody has to shoot first. In this case it was Russia. Blaming Ukraine for ‘provoking’ this situation is liking blaming a rape victim for wearing revealing clothing.
ENVYisEVIL@reddit (OP)

THE ANTI-HUMANS
“History is replete with examples of leaders, nations, and empires who left a trail of blood behind them. But with the Bolshevik takeover of Russia after the First World War, something new crawled from the depths of the earth onto the surface of the world. Never before had a government shown such uninhibited savagery toward its own people, during peacetime, as a matter of policy and in the name of scientific management. After Nazi Germany was defeated in the Second World War, Stalin’s Soviet Union unleashed hell on the devastated nations of Eastern Europe, leaving behind an unmatched record of sadism and brutality.”
