I keep disabling and uninstalling it, even making registry keys that should prevent it from running. Windows keeps undoing it and reinstalling it with updates. It's annoying.
I used to work on Windows Upgrades, and my organization was adamant about disabling One Drive (at least until they got One Drive for Business properly set up for use throughout the organization), and with each new Windows 10 release, they kept making it harder and harder to turn off. What a pain in the butt.
I love OneDrive. It saves all of my stuff to the cloud automatically so I can open them anywhere. Have a doc or spreadsheet? It’s saved on my computer, but since it’s mirrored to one drive, I can also open it on my phone, iPad, work computer or anywhere else. Any changes I make will automatically sync back and be available on all devices.
And the best part? The file is still saved on my computer, on my hard drive.
Same man. It's been incredibly helpful for work, and has also translated to home stuff too. If I do some work on my desktop at home, and have some time to kill at work, I can easily continue there, and the newest file is on both computers.
Yeah. I started using it in conjunction with an Office 365 sub that I can expense for business and it is nice to easily integrate with my local pc storage but access on anything like an ipad.
I’ve had it so long I never even thought about how annoying it could be if I didn’t use it lol.
Slightly relevant to this, but I started a new job at the beginning of the summer.
There is NOTHING stored locally. The entirety of our businesses digital files are saved on Dropbox and apparently I’m one of the only people who thinks this is a potential issues.
You have to wait anywhere from 30 seconds up to 5 minutes to access anything from your work computer. It’s maddening.
Not really. I have Google Drive, and iCloud. I don’t need another freaking cloud service that won’t go away when I’m not using it.
Also, Verizon cloud, Samsung cloud, store your pictures on every photo service available please!
Difference is at least it doesn’t pop up every time I turn on my computer.
Boomers and email was just more work for us to have to walk our parents thru how to use a computer and I had to write my dad instructions for every single thing he had to do at work. Damn. Also had to run network coax cable through ceiling tiles probably filled with asbestos for him.
Then god forbid one of the links in the daisy chain network went out. Got to diag every computer Ethernet connection, and card, and then fix the server when that went down.
I just wanted a Pepsi! And to go to baseball practice on time.
I get not wanting more cloud storage when I think about it. Teams talk just gets to me. People that hate teams will always hate teams and yearn for what they used before but honestly teams isn't bad.
At work we don’t use teams but because Microsoft is awful and just activates everything automatically I had to go in after this last update and change my settings so Teams would stop slowing down my startup because it was automatically starting again n the background. If I could uninstall teams, Bing and a bunch of other Microsoft nonsense I would but instead I just change the settings.
Fucking Microsoft … every time I log in to my work computer, it’s like an annoying little buddy “come on bro, wanna log into Teams? Wanna start a Teams meeting? Cmon bro it’ll be super fun, wanna schedule one now since you looked at an email from another person? Maybe THEY wanna do a Teams meeting?!? Cmon bro PLEASE.”
I went back to school a few years ago and we all were forced to use outlook and OneDrive and teams (still can't navigate teams to save my life). We all used Gmail and Google drive workarounds and fb messenger groups to navigate everything.
Now it's a few years later, and everything's still signed in to my school email address, but things are starting to notify me that passwords have expired.
PushingAWetNoodle@reddit
Why? Did I sign out of it? No I didn’t? Looks like it should stay signed in then shouldn’t it?
SickSticksKick@reddit
Never will be either.

Oh man this made me 🤣

Came here to say this

And you'll never get access to the evid... local files as well.

Same. But how do we get this notification to go away?! I have not googled it yet. Easier to ask someone else 😂
Kahnza@reddit
Right click the Start button, click installed Apps. Find OneDrive and uninstall.

scona@reddit
Uninstall it.

Windows is a pest with the onedrive crap. But I mean Apple kinda makes you do it too.
wh33t@reddit
Look into windows debloat methods.
Also Linux.
justkeeptreading@reddit
a mac would be a better bridge, if you can’t survive on that then linux definitely wouldn’t be a fun time
plus icloud is one drive done right
surfingbiscuits@reddit
I was using Linux 20 years ago and it made more sense than the Mac I used at my last job.
Try it off a live image and see if it makes sense. A lot cheaper than getting a Mac first.
CrookedLemur@reddit
Mac is just Linux with a bad window manager
wh33t@reddit
Meh, most people just need a browser and a machine that doesn't harass or spy on them.
look_ima_frog@reddit
I put my family on linux because all most of them do is watch youtube. Works great!
ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c@reddit
If they're asking how to disable OneDrive, they're either going to have a totally painless Linux experience, or it's going to be absolute hell.
media-and-stuff@reddit
I got a new laptop and at 1st I thought I was saving to my computer. But one drive was the default.
And if I clicked on the file explorer, one drive was the default for so many folders.
I got so mad.
I’m very computer literate in general. But damn they make it hard to just save stuff to your actual computer.
Also when did they start selling computers with absolutely no programs on them?
My last computer was bought a while ago. I buy powerful and upgrade it so it lasts a while. It had a bunch of basic versions of free programs.
My new one has nothing. Not even fucking solitaire. And it’s a $800 plus tax laptop. Not exactly bottom of the barrel.

Damn, I just uninstalled it thinking that it’s done. We shall see.
Helgafjell4Me@reddit
Now they're also installing Copilot, which I also immediately disabled with a registry key. I'm waiting to see if that one gets undone as well.
TheTipJar@reddit
If you think that's fun, try sparring with New Outlook.

Try having one for work and one personal on the same computer. You’re always both signed in and not
