What's the coldest gym in dfw?

On weightloss meds and my temp regulation is shot. Please 🙏 for the love of ac and fans, do you have any recs for gyms that actually have fans with air movement and thier ac working? I'm dying during my work out, I get so hot I wanna throw up. Is it bad form to bring my own stand up fan? Please help

I go to the bouldering project (formerly OSO)...their AC pumps!

Buy a Tonal, workout at home and crank the A/C

Cowboys Fit at 411 Washington keeps the gym at about 67.

Just wet your hair!! Ive read doing cardio in the heat burns more calories, and Ive read working out in the cold makes you leaner....so go for comfort.
DrRickStudwell@reddit
Might want to reevaluate those meds if it’s consistently affecting you that much. You shouldn’t be on the verge of vomiting like that.

Side effect of some of them. Same situation for me when I get got the day or two after taking them.

Bouldering project Dallas has a really nice gym area, it is problematic for me how cold they keep it in there. And they always have fans on high. I have to wear a hoodie to stay warm between sets.
wawa310@reddit
Check out “neck fans” on Amazon!
deer_ylime@reddit
Get a stroller fan!! It can clip on the any of the things you use. And they’re pretty powerful
2Spot14@reddit
Fuck it. Bring your own fan. People set up tripods for videoing their workouts, if you have a portable fan that doesn't require a trip-hazard, long ass cord, just set it up and use it.
Klekto123@reddit
i’d be pretty annoyed if the guy next to me had a stand up fan blowing in my face
2Spot14@reddit
Not when you witness the ultimate aesthetic combo of gym lighting, pump, and your hair flowing in the artificial wind! đź’Ş
ApprehensiveAnswer5@reddit
Coming to say the same.
We have the Ryobi ones, but the DeWalt ones mentioned above are good too.
My dad is a Milwaukee guy and they make the fans as well.
pizza_barista_@reddit
Dewalt makes a good fan for this
Strong-Lime2041@reddit
I recommend the dewalt portable fan. I personally have the m12 and m18 for work but my coworker has the dewalt and it seems to blow air better.Â
HailtoAlexis@reddit
They make ice pack vests that work similarly to weighted vests, you might look into those. My dad used one to mow in the mid summer texas heat.
Klekto123@reddit
this idea > stand up fan bc it doesn’t affect other people
gut23_qw@reddit
Maybe you should get thyroid hormones checked, bro…
Emotional_River1291@reddit
You’re taking one of those meds which disrupts your tca cycle. Don’t do it. People have died taking those.
MeesterGnome94@reddit
Climbing gyms are pretty cold in the mornings
notamyokay@reddit
Can you share (privately if you would like) what dr or clinic you go to? Been trying to find a reputable place but a lot have felt scammy.
Lanky_Journalist911@reddit
My advice would be trying a gym that is more empty. The more people, the hotter it’ll be.
Terrasause@reddit
Planet Fitness near love field is pretty cold compared to the other ones I’ve been to
ITakeLargeDabs@reddit
Let me ask you this, do you NEED this medication or just WANT this medication? If this is a want, I can personally tell you can lose weight without that stuff if you just eat right and workout hard. It's more difficult yes but you can't shortcut success. You also can't avoid sweating because that's how you know you're actually working out + regulating your temperature.
Hunky-Monkey@reddit
You are getting downvoted because you are not this person's physician and have no business advising them on what they need or don't need medically.
ITakeLargeDabs@reddit
Do you know the difference betwen needs and wants? Because they are very different. WANTING a popular weight loss med everyone is taking because you want to shortcut losing weight is different than NEEDING medication to ulitmately stay alive or at least be in healtiher condition. That's why I clearly said "If this is a want" in my comment.
Hunky-Monkey@reddit
Thank you for trying to educate me on something I am a lot more educated on than you. I will reiterate and rephrase because you can't seem to read.
You are not their doctor, and you shouldn't advise someone whose situation you have no idea about. The question OP posed was not "Should I take weight loss meds?" It was "What's the coldest gym in DFW?" If you want to help, stay on topic.
ITakeLargeDabs@reddit
I love how youre totally dodging my super fair point, like not even acknowledging it. Are you a politician or something?
Hunky-Monkey@reddit
I'm not acknowledging your point because it is off topic, and I will continue to not acknowledge it so you can understand that it's off topic.
And like I am now mentioning for the third time, you are not their doctor and it is not a discussion that you should be having with someone at all, let alone over reddit.
ITakeLargeDabs@reddit
HAAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAAH YOU ARE SO UNSERIOUS! The difference between wanting and needing a medication is genuinely so important. Like wow talk about automatically disqualifying yourself as someone who as genuine serious opinion. This is unbelievable to witness, so glad I could but man it kills me to know people are actually like this... jfc we are so cooked

You still have a chance to argue in good faith. But if you cant acknowledge needs and wants then this will never solve anything.
Hunky-Monkey@reddit
Haha, there's no argument to be had here. Everything I want to say I have already said.

The Planet Fitness I go to is always borderline too cold. Lots of fans, the AC is cold, etc. Your results may vary, of course. Some locations seem trash.
TLOU2bigsad@reddit
LA Fitness is typically a bit cooler in my opinion. They always have those Big Ass Fans running and great AC.
Many-Screen-3698@reddit
I wholeheartedly disagree, the LA’s I’ve been to need to turn temps down like 10 more degrees in there. I don’t have much to compare to though
Downtown-Travel9993@reddit
Not the lovers location imo. I swear I break a sweat in there faster than any other LA fitness I've been to.
TheRealBadGate@reddit
they definitely turned their AC off july and august!

I use the city rec centers and they are usually empty which means they’re pretty cold because there aren’t any other bodies in them giving off heat. I usually start off in long sleeves even.
You could also bring your own fan set up in there too, and nobody is there to notice.
That said, they have traditional “business hours” for the most part, so I you need before 9am and after like 7pm, many of them aren’t open late, so it may not work out.
But it’s usually just me and then sometimes a couple seniors on the treadmill.
DemonsInsid3@reddit
Just want to say keep it up man! I know how hard it is to workout when dealing with medical issues but it’s clear you have the drive and motivation to keep pushing. I dealt with something similar and luckily my gym has a fridge full of cold towels, between every workout id get 2-3 cold towels and place them on my legs/neck and it helped a lot but still wasnt ideal. I ended up having to cut my workouts shorter so i wasnt over doing it.
ryan__rr@reddit
If the weight loss meds are affecting you that dramatically, trying to exercise at the same time might be a really bad idea. Should ask the doctor.
Abadabadon@reddit
I use ymca and their ac is always working. Sometimes they'll turn on their fans aswell and it feels like I'm in an air turbine lol
LilDebSez@reddit
I would find a place with a pool. You don't have to swim. You can walk the pool (water resistance) or do exercises in the pool. Check into water aerobic classes.
BrokenCot@reddit
I would assume lifetime since it’s a premium gym

I’ve been having the same problem so I bought one of these. It’s sillier looking than the ones that just look like headphones, but it really works!!

24 hr fitness has a indoor pool, which is always cool.
funkpanda@reddit
Instead of traditional weight lifting - have you tried swimming?
cris2miles@reddit
Try recreation centers the one in Plano I go to has fans everywhere with the AC on full blast. If you don't mind the drive, check out Liberty recreation center.

Man up and work out in the heat

Until you lose more weight, that's totally normal. You'll sweat a lot if you worked outside in the artic circle.
